Abstract

The study was aimed to develop teaching material, hand out, using problem based learning useful to increase concept understanding of junior high school students in grade VII. Product quality valued by validity and practicality aspects. This study is a kind of research and development with procedure referred to 4–D developing models; define, design, develop, disseminate. However, the study was conducted to development aspect due to the limitation of research. The subjects of the study were the students of the VII grade of SMPN 25 Padang with 32 students. Furthermore, final test was conducted to see the ability of students’ concept understanding. Based on data analysis, data shows that : 1). Validity quality of the product met the valid criteria with lesson plan percentage mean 83,3 %, very valid category and the mean of hand out 80,1 %, valid category. 2). Product practicality quality met practical criteria, based on the questionnaire percentage mean filled by the students, 84 %, very practice category. 3). The result of students’ final test of concept understanding ability was 81 %, 26 from 32 students passed the test, 6 students failed based on school passing standard.

Abstract

Geometry is a compulsory course conducted in mathematics department at university level. In mathematics syllabus, geometry is divided into two dimensional and three dimensional figures. Two dimensional geometry focuses on points, lines, dimension, and angle. Meanwhile, three dimensional geometry focuses on three dimensional figures consisting of some two dimensional figures such as cubes, beams, prisms, pyramids, extra. In this article, geometry aspects are focused on line perpendicularity to dimension in cubes and beams because connectivity between line perpendicularity and dimension is, generally, found on cubes and beams. Hopefully, by proving theorem of line perpendicularity, it can be useful in understanding the characteristics of cubes and beams.

Abstract

This study was conducted due to the lack of audi visual learning aids in developing students’ understanding on two-variable linear equation. The aim of this study is to describe the practicality of developed medium, specially, video of simulation for learning mathematics in TAV students of X grade of SMK 5 Padang concerning two-variable linear equation. This developing study uses procedural development in accordance to Alessi and Trollip (2001), consisting of 3 steps; planning; design; and development. Practicality data of product gained through development phase by scoring teacher responded questionnaire and student responded questionnaire. The result of product testing shows that video of simulation is pratical to be used in learning mathematics.

Abstract

Mathematics teacher strive to make student interested in changing students perceptions of mathematics so that mathematics learning goals can be achieved. The research aims to compare learning outcomes, whether students mathematics learning outcomes by applying the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach are better than students mathematics learning outcomes by applyimh conventional learning models in phase F class students at SMK N 6 Padang. Based on data analysis of students mathematics learning outcomes, it was found that students mathematics learning outcomes by applying the CTL approach tended to increase. Data on students mathematics learning outcomes in the experimental class sample is not normally distributed and the control class is normally distributed, has a homogeneuos variance. Because one of the samples was not normal a non parametric test was used using the Man-Whitney U test. After processing the data, it showed that the value was smaller than , so was accepted, it could be concluded that the learning outcomes using the CTL approach were batter than the learning outcomes using the CTL approach were better than the learning outcomes. Mathematics students who apply conventional learning to phase F students at SMK N 6 Padang.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesulitan mahasiswa dalam mempelajari geometri, khususnya dalam meletakkan titik pada koordinat Kartesius di ruang tiga dimensi. Koordinat ruang merupakan konsep dasar dalam pembelajaran geometri analitik yang menuntut kemampuan visualisasi spasial dan pemahaman terhadap sistem sumbu x, y, dan z. Penelitian dilakukan secara kualitatif deskriptif terhadap 21 mahasiswa Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika semester empat Universitas Ekasakti Padang. Data diperoleh melalui tes diagnostik, observasi, dan wawancara mendalam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar mahasiswa mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami representasi sumbu z, membedakan antara bidang xy, xz, dan yz, serta melakukan proyeksi titik ke dalam tiga sumbu. Kesulitan ini dipengaruhi oleh lemahnya kemampuan visualisasi spasial dan minimnya penggunaan media pembelajaran berbasis visual. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan penggunaan teknologi visualisasi dan manipulatif digital untuk mengurangi miskonsepsi geometri ruang.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of ontology and academic ethics in understanding the essence of education, with a focus on mathematics education. Using a qualitative conceptual approach through library research, this study analyzes scholarly works on educational ontology, academic ethics, and education. The findings show that education is ontologically an existential process aimed at the holistic formation of human beings, not merely knowledge transmission. In education, this perspective positions educations as an intellectual activity that shapes rational thinking and academic responsibility. The study also finds that academic ethics is an inherent consequence of understanding the nature of education and knowledge. Integrating ontological understanding and academic ethics is therefore essential for strengthening integrity and ethical practices in education, particularly in the digital era.
