Abstract

This article is motivated by the enthusiasm of students from public tertiary institutions in religious activities. The lack of religious knowledge provided by the campus encourages them to deepen their religion by joining a religious institution. This type of research is a qualitative (field research). The data collection method uses observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. The data is then analyzed by means of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. In this study, it was found that the institution of the Yayasan Amal Saleh Foundation was born to foster a young generation of Islam influenced by the emergence of Islamic reform movements both in Indonesia and the world. The organization has a program of activities which are categorized as religious activities and social activities which are motivated by religious motivation and social motivation. Members of the organization who call themselves “santri” assume that although they come from public tertiary institutions, they position themselves as religious people (Islam) so that they are embedded in themselves that these activities have become responsibilities that must be carried out. Also, as a social creature, the act of helping one another also becomes a necessity.Keywords: Yayasan Amal Saleh; Social Religion; Students; SantriArtikel ini dilatarbelakangi oleh semangat mahasiswa dari perguruan tinggi umum dalam kegiatan keagamaan. Minimnya ilmu agama yang diberikan oleh kampus menjadi pendorong mereka untuk lebih memperdalam agama dengan bergabung kepada sebuah lembaga keagamaan. Jenis penelitian ini ialah penelitian lapangan (field research) yang bersifat kualitatif. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Data kemudian dianalisis dengan cara reduksi data, display data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Dalam studi ini ditemukan bahwa lembaga Yayasan Amal Saleh ini lahir dalam rangka membina generasi muda Islam yang dipengaruhi oleh munculnya gerakan pembaharuan Islam baik di Indonesia maupun dunia. Organisasi tersebut memiliki program kegiatan yang dikategorikan kepada kegiatan keagamaan dan kegiatan sosial yang didorong oleh motivasi agama dan motivasi sosial. Anggota organisasi yang menyebut dirinya sebagai santri ini beranggapan bahwa walaupun berasal dari perguruan tinggi umum tapi mereka memposisikan diri sebagai umat beragama (Islam) sehingga tertanam pada diri bahwa kegiatan tersebut sudah menjadi tanggung jawab yang harus diemban. Abstract

Intolerance was often pinned on communal societies such as Indonesia because it uses a liberal-secular tolerance perspective which is identical to Western Christian society. If the perspective is shifted, for example using communal tolerance, the communal community will also practice the opposite, tolerance. This paper is intended to reveal and analyze how the Muslim community in the Nagari KH which is considered the majority practices tolerance on a community scale in the context of religious moderation towards the Christian minority in the Nagari. In addition, it also analyzes why the model's tolerance can occur. This research is qualitative research that relies on interview data from elements of the nagari government, penghulu, youth leaders, religious leaders and adherents of Islam and Christianity from both communities. The data is reinforced by document data including journals and research reports that are relevant to the research topic. The results show that community tolerance as a form of religious moderation has been practiced by the Muslim community of KH in the socio-economic and religious realms. In the socio-economic aspect, community tolerance appears in the form of openness to business, buying and selling and ownership of land and houses. While in the religious realm it is limited to individual and family worship at homes. The ambivalence of tolerance practiced by the Muslim community of KH is rooted in the ambivalence of Minangkabau culture on a macro level and the ambivalence of the geographical position of Nagari KH on a micro basis. Minangkabau cultural ambivalence collides and synthesizes matrilineal customs and matrilineal Islam. Meanwhile, the ambivalence of being a coastal area is at the same time bordering on darek. Both have given birth to an inclusive attitude towards immigrants in the socio-economic realm and exclusive when it comes to communal worship.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the semiotics of Islamic posts on the Instagram account @hijrahsantun. This study is in the form of documentary research on posting pictures and narratives as well as netizen comments. The data in this study were collected through random screenshots and led to hijrah motivations and Islamic messages. In addition, the data in the form of journal books and relevant studies also enriched. The data was then analyzed using qualitative content analysis with a narrative method related to the text of the posts. This study finds first, at the level of reality there is the ability of polite hijrah account owners to align the message of da'wah with background taking. The two posts from the polite hijrah account represent religious issues that are considered trivial so that for readers they are used as religious reminder messages, John Fiske calls the representation stage. Third, there is the transmission of religious ideology that invites readers to emigrate. Therefore, for account owners, social media is a place for da'wah and ideological transmission, while for users, posts on the @hijrah polite account are used as a reminder of the value of normative worship. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk manganalisis semiotik postingan islami pada akun instagram @hijrahsantun. Studi ini dalam bentuk penelitian dokumentasi terhadap postingan gambar dan narasi serta komentar netizen. Data dalam studi ini dikumpulkan melalui screenshoot secara acak dan mengarah pada motivasi hijrah serta pesan-pesan islami. Selain itu data berupa buku jurnal dan studi rerlevan turut memperkaya. Data tersebut kemudian dianalisis menggunakan content analysis kualitatif dengan metode naratif terkait teks dari postingan. Studi ini menemukan pertama, pada level realitas adanya kemampuan pemilik akun hijrah santun dalam penyelarasan antara pesan dakwah dengan pengambilan background. Kedua postingan dari akun hijrah santun merepresentasikan persoalan keagamaan yang dianggap sepele sehingga bagi pembaca dijadikan sebagai pesan-pesan pengingat keagamaan, John Fiske menyebut tahap representasi. Ketiga, adanya transmisi ideologi keagamaan yang mengajak pembaca untuk hijrah. Maka dari itu bagi pemilik akun, media sosial menjadi wadah dakwah serta transmisi ideologi sementara bagi pengguna, postingan pada akun @hijrah santun dijadikan sebagai pengingat nilai ibadah normatif.

Abstract

The many issues of conflict in the name of religion have attracted the attention of leaders towards peace. Efforts offered such as inter-religious dialogue tend to be carried out after a conflict occurs. This article aims to offer an attitude of diversity through an understanding of multicultural values ​​as a way of peace before interfaith dialogue. This article uses a qualitative study in the form of a literature study. Data is collected through journals, books as well as other manuscripts that are considered to enrich the study. This study finds that peace efforts have been carried out by world leaders through interfaith dialogue. However, this dialogue tends to be in the realm of courtesy and prevents mere offense. Therefore, it is necessary to understand multicultural values ​​as an effort that becomes the attitude of each individual human being. This value must be instilled from an early age, such as respecting and accepting differences, and seeing the basic principles of equality as a unifying bond. Multicultural values ​​also inculcate to oppose forms of oppression, discrimination, war, and other crimes.

Abstract

Penggunaan budaya lain menjadi konsekuensi logis dari perjumpaan dua budaya yang berbeda terutama berada dalam posisi minoritas. Oleh sebab itu tulisan ini bertujuan untuk melihat bentuk penggunaan/apropriasi budaya dominan serta menganalisis bagaimana mereka memaknai penggunaan budaya luar dalam konteks kebudayaannya. Penelitian ini dalam bentuk kualitatif yang datanya diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi. Data kemudian dianalisis menggunakan pendekatan etnografi yang diusung oleh James P. Spradley. Temuan studi ini memperlihatkan bentuk apropriasi budaya yang dilakukan oleh etnis Tionghoa kota Padang dalam perayaan Cap Go Meh. Apropriasi budaya ini tergambar dalam bentuk simbol budaya, kesenian seperti tari hingga makanan. Apropriasi yang dilakukan terbentuk secara alamiah, sebab adanya konstruksi identitas menjadi bagian diri dari budaya dominan (Minang) sekaligus memberi corak baru terhadap kebudayaan suatu kelompok yang dianggap kaku dan ekslusif menjadi fleksibel dan adaptif.

Abstract

This article describes the development of modern rationalism in the renaissance century which focuses on philosophers: Descartes, Spinoza, and Leibniz, and Pascal. This article is a qualitative article which is analyzed using descriptive, explorative and analytical methods. This article finds data that modern rationalism in the renaissance century was marked by the thoughts of three great figures namely Descartes, Spinoza, and Leibniz, who created the rise of the use of reason as a tool to gain knowledge. While Pascal has another view that the element of the heart is often far more important than the element of ratio. For Pascal, getting knowledge is obtained in two ways, the mind and the heart, and the heart has its own logic. The three Rationalists based their philosophy on the concept of substance, but they differed in the relationship between soul and matter and the amount of substance. Descartes mentions that there are three substances: God, soul and matter, Spinoza only recognizes God. Meanwhile, for Leibniz, the substance is God and the monades (family of souls). Meanwhile, Pascal's thought is to see that humans are creatures that need God, because the only way to understand humans is through religion.
