Abstract

Resort hotels are usually built in tourist areas such as mountains, beaches, and lakes. The problem in this design is that contoured land becomes more difficult in designing compared to flat land. But how to create an advantage on the contoured land, and how to create a design and building in accordance with the title raised and the purpose of that is to support the existence of functions building according to the project case. The purpose of designing this Resort Hotel is to increase the number of foreign and local tourists who come to North Sumatra especially to the Lake Toba area and provide temporary shelter and recreational activities for the community and tourists who come. The method used is to apply the local wisdom of the Karo tribe. The shape of the roof at the Karo traditional house is applied to the hotel which has been designed and the use of ornaments as facades on building looks to apply the neo-vernacular architectural theme. The results of the design of Resort Hotels to attract tourists to visit this Hotel and the Hotel also aims to preserve the local wisdom of Karo tribes. "Hotel Resort Kodon" is present as a place or recreational facility that can meet the needs of tourists where the Lake Toba area requires many new lodging and recreation areas.

Abstract

Terminal is a public service, a place for up and down passengers, a place for transfers between public and a place for the arrival and departure of public transport. The terminal can drive the transportation system because it is an infrastructure that can increase the mobility of vehicles and users. At the Bandar Kajum terminal in the City of Tebing Tinggi, it is necessary to maximize the function of the terminal both in terms of facilities and building mass that is able to combine strength, usability and beauty so as to produce balance. To produce such a large building mass, hybrid architecture was chosen as an approach in designing the Bandar Kajum terminal because hybrid architecture is a combination of different planning and design elements in an environment. The research method used in this study is an approach with a descriptive method that aims to identify the application of a hybrid to the design which is carried out through eclectic stages, modifications and merging as a way to combine building programs, this allows the functions of one another to be interrelated. support and interact with each other in the same building mass and elevate the locality of the Bandar Kajum terminal.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the countries that will enter the era of demographic bonus. The demographic bonus is that the productive age population's growth is more significant than the structure of the unproductive age population. Meanwhile, Indonesia is still experiencing difficulties in one of the health problems often experienced by adolescents, namely mental health. Medan is the capital city of North Sumatra Province, which has the 8th largest depression sufferer. A design approach that can answer this question is biophilic design. Biophilic design is a design approach based on biophilia, which is intended to create a space that can improve the well-being of human life physically and mentally by approaching the positive relationship between humans and nature. The Mental Health Center design method uses qualitative research methods, which will go through several processes that aim to identify the biophilic design and compare it to the interior design facility standards.

Abstract

The tourism sector is crucial to Indonesia's economy, especially in the Sibuatan Forest Area, Merek Subdistrict, Karo Regency. However, ecosystem degradation and a lack of public awareness about forest conservation pose significant challenges. To address these, a holistic approach involves designing recreational facilities that integrate ecotourism, education, and ecological architecture. These facilities aim to protect and optimize the forest while inspiring, educating, and creating sustainable local economic opportunities, fostering harmony between humans and nature. The ecological architecture theme is chosen for its ability to blend buildings with the environment while maintaining sustainability and ecological balance. This approach also promotes using environmentally friendly materials to reduce the carbon footprint. Architectural design in the forest emphasizes minimizing environmental impact through recycled materials and sustainable technologies. Facilities will be strategically placed to avoid disrupting the ecosystem and biodiversity. This design enhances tourism appeal by providing an educational and sustainable ecotourism experience. Furthermore, this initiative is expected to raise local awareness about environmental conservation and create new economic opportunities through tourism. Ultimately, the community will benefit from environmental preservation efforts and sustainable economic development in the protected forest area.

Abstract

Labuan Railway Station has been an integral part of the history of Indonesian railways since it began operating in the city of Medan for a significant period. Its existence has become an important marker in the cultural heritage of Medan, North Sumatra. Unfortunately, this station has now experienced a significant decline in operations and facilities, resulting in its current inability to operate fully. Therefore, a revitalization effort is necessary, focusing on providing new facilities without neglecting the preservation of the existing building's values. This study aims to evaluate the strategies required to redevelop the role of Labuan Station as a functional transportation hub while maintaining the historical integrity and authenticity of the building. Qualitative methods and a case study approach are used to analyze the challenges and opportunities associated with reviving the station's operations and redesigning its facilities. It is hoped that the results of this study will provide more comprehensive insights into how to enhance the function of railway stations with historical value. Consequently, this study can serve as a guide for stakeholders in redesigning Labuan Station without diminishing the historical values inherent in the station, as well as developing sustainable strategies for similar stations in Indonesia.

Abstract

The development of the times and socio-cultural changes have had a significant impact on architecture, often eroding regional identity and cultural heritage that have been formed over centuries. This is evident in the revitalization of heritage areas, where regional design elements are less integrated, especially in contemporary practices. This study proposes a policy to implement regional architectural design and organize outdoor spaces in cultural heritage revitalization projects. Using architectural design methods, this study aims to create a "right" approach that combines historical monumentalism with contemporary aesthetics. Conceptual strategies such as contextual juxtaposition are used to enhance the design and character of the environment, with a focus on aesthetics and functionality. This approach aims to revitalize underutilized historic buildings by integrating new structures and materials, regenerating a sense of identity and value. This study provides a foundation for cultural and architectural policies in urban development, encompassing physical, economic, and social aspects while encouraging community involvement and ownership. Keywords: regional architecture, heritage revitalization, conceptual design, contextual juxtaposition, local identity.
