Abstract

The book of Matthew records the virgin birth of Jesus and then turns to the coming of the Magi from the East to see Jesus being born in Bethlehem. The Magi came from a faraway land guided by a bright star different from the other stars. They are synonymous with people who have knowledge of nature and can interpret the stars. Another view states that they are priests from Persia who work as interpreters of dreams. Examining these characteristics, it is suspected that they are Zoroastrians. This research aims to reveal the identity of the Magi, who brought gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh to Jesus. The method used is descriptive qualitative with a historical research approach. The results of the research show that there is a relationship between the Zoroastrians and the birth of Jesus. The birth of Jesus was written in non-Jewish treatises so that the news of human salvation has spread to nations, not just Jews.

Abstract

Christianity understands love as a basic principle of life. In the philosophy of Dalihan Na Tolu and Letter 1 John 3:11-18 there is an essence that can be met. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to provide an understanding of brotherly love based on the perspective of the philosophy of Dalihan Na Tolu and the text of 1 John 3:11-18. In this article, the researcher uses a qualitative method with a literature study approach. The researcher also conducted an exegetical analysis to obtain the substance of love related to Dalihan Na Tolu. The results of this study indicate that Dalihan Na Tolu and 1 John 3:11-18 have something in common, namely the need to build love in brotherly relationships. If Dalihan Na Tolu shows the importance of building a life in love for fellow brothers, then letter 1 John 3:11-18 seeks to open the paradigm that every student must be seen as a sibling so that the application of love becomes more dynamic. The meeting point between the two is in the desire to apply brotherly love.

Abstract

This study begins by addressing compositional gaps in John 12 and its dynamic relationship with the Synoptic Gospels through an initial exegetical exploration. The findings are then developed into a narrative-historical analysis and interpreted using philosophical hermeneutics and catharsis theory to examine the internal condition of the Gospel’s author. The results indicate that John’s emotional state and underlying motives significantly influenced the structure and emphasis of chapter 12. His inner conflict as a disciple closely linked to both John the Baptist and Jesus underlies the unique features of this chapter when compared to the Synoptic parallels. Through cathartic contemplation, John is able to reimagine and narrate painful events with theological and pastoral depth. He recognises the necessity of recording these events faithfully so that his readers might perceive their profound meaning. Ultimately, the narrative conveys a striking message: the world is no longer a safe or ideal place for the followers of Christ. Rather, it has become a dystopian reality, underscoring the cost of discipleship and the enduring relevance of John's Gospel for a suffering community.

Abstract

Abstract: Teachers play an important role in the success of learning, which requires philosophy. However, philosophy is considered unimportant and boring, and is not visible in dealing with educational issues. This study aims to analyze the role of Christian Religious Education teachers from an ontological, epistemological, and axiological perspective to provide a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the nature, sources of knowledge, and values inherent in the role of teachers. The method used in this study is literature research through the process of collection, analysis, and synthesis. The results of this study are that the role of Christian Religious Education teachers ontologically is as the image of God, servants and instruments of God, and a calling in life. Epistemologically, the role of Christian Religious Education teachers is as guides, facilitators, and interpreters. Axiologically, the role of Christian Religious Education teachers is as planters of Christian values, role models, and character builders.
