Abstract

This study examines the problems that exist in new students of Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia regarding the problems of some Universitas Indonesia students from minority ethnic groups who have difficulty adapting because the language of instruction used is different from the language they use daily in their area. This research has the aim that we as students, both migrants and local students, know the differences in regional languages and also everyday languages that have an impact on adapting and how to deal with these problems. The research method we use is the Kulialitatif method with interview techniques and literature studies. The location of this research was conducted at the Indonesian Education University with new students as informants consisting of different tribes.

Abstract

Social media has transformed the social dynamics of modern society, replacing the role of traditional institutions in shaping social norms. Institutions such as family, school, and religion—previously the main pillars in constructing social values—are now being displaced by the influence of digital media. This study aims to analyze how social media functions as a new institution in the formation of social norms, using the perspective of Talcott Parsons' Structural Functionalism Theory, particularly the AGIL framework (Adaptation, Goal Attainment, Integration, and Latency). A qualitative method was employed, involving teenage participants aged 17–20 who are actively engaged with social media. The findings show that social media not only facilitates communication but also establishes new standards in social behavior, moral values, and political engagement. Therefore, social media has emerged as a new institution that defines social norms, replacing the role of traditional institutions in society.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh variabel budaya organisasi dan kepribadian terhadap kinerja karyawan pada divisi bazaar Transmart Mx Mall Malang. Penelitian ini merupakan paenelitian eksplanatif, yakni penelitian yang menjelaskan hubungan antar variabel. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan kuesioner sebagai instrumen penelitian. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh karyawan divisi bazaar Transmart Mx Mall Malang yang berjumlah 35 orang. Analisis data pada penelitian ini menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif dan analisis regresi linier berganda yang dibantu dengan SPSS versi 20. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa (1) budaya organisasi memiliki pengaruh positif signifikan terhadap kinerja karyawan (2) kepribadian karyawan memiliki pengaruh positif signifikan terhadap kinerja karyawan (3) budaya organisasi dan kepribadian karyawan berpengaruh secara simultan terhadap kinerja karyawan. Dapat diketahui pula bahwa kepribadian merupakan variabel yang paling berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan kinerja karyawan di divisi bazaar. Transmart Mx Mall Malang. Abstract

Enhancing students' understanding of figurative language in English song lyrics presents a significant challenge in English Language Teaching (ELT). This research explored the collective impact of integrating Genre-Based Instruction (GBI), Cooperative Learning, and Gamification on improving students' knowledge and understanding of songs. The integration of modern approaches such as Genre-Based Instruction (GBI) in English Language Teaching (ELT) has significantly enhanced students' linguistic and communicative competencies. GBI encourages students to consider audience, purpose, and context, which is particularly beneficial in understanding complex language forms such as figurative language. The study aimed to assess how this eclectic blend influenced students' comprehension of figurative language, as well as their linguistic competence, critical thinking, and creativity. The research utilized a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design with both qualitative and quantitative methods. The study involved 36 students from a public school in Ngaglik, Sleman, Yogyakarta, and their English teacher, who also served as the homeroom teacher. Data collection included qualitative methods such as classroom observations, interviews, and documentation, as well as quantitative data from pre-tests, cycle 1 tests, and cycle 2 tests (post-tests). Qualitative data were analyzed through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing, while quantitative data were processed and analyzed similarly. The results of qualitative and quantitative analysis, along with triangulation, indicate a significant improvement in students' ability to understand and use figurative language. The combined use of GBI, cooperative learning, and gamification proved effective in creating a dynamic learning environment that enhances students' comprehension of figurative language in songs. The integration of GBI provided a structured framework for analyzing various song genres, while cooperative learning created a collaborative environment that fostered deeper engagement with the material. The gamification element introduced a competitive and enjoyable aspect that increased student motivation and participation. However, challenges such as varying student proficiency levels and the need for additional support were noted. Future research should explore the long-term effects of these strategies on overall language skills, address diverse student needs, and evaluate various gamification techniques. These insights will help refine the application of these methods in diverse educational contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the STEM-based Project-Based Learning (PJBL) model and e-learning on elementary school students' learning motivation through a bibliometric approach. The method used was bibliometric analysis with the help of VOSviewer software to map research trends based on publication data from the Crossreff database. The analysis revealed six main keyword clusters: PJBL integration in STEM, technology and e-learning, motivation and engagement, evaluation of learning outcomes, the role of teachers and curriculum, and implementation challenges. These findings demonstrate that the global research focus is shifting toward active learning supported by digital technology and centered on students. In conclusion, the STEM-based PJBL approach integrated with e-learning contributes positively to increasing student learning motivation. It is recommended that teacher training and digital infrastructure support be improved to maximize the effectiveness of implementation at the elementary school level.
