Abstract

The Wellhausen Document Hypothesis is a theory that suggests the Pentateuch (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy) was composed from four main sources, namely the Jahwist (J), Elohist (E), Priestly (P), and Deuteronomic (D) sources. This theory was first proposed by Julius Wellhausen in the 19th century and has become one of the most influential theories in the study of the Bible. According to this hypothesis, J is the oldest source, dating from the early monarchy period (around the 10th century BCE). J refers to God as Yahweh and focuses on the relationship between God and the people of Israel. E is a more recent source, originating from the northern monarchy period (around the 9th century BCE). E refers to God as Elohim and emphasizes the moral and ethical aspects of the relationship between God and humans.

Abstract

This qualitative study, grounded in a constructivist framework, investigates the role of social media in transforming Millennials and Gen Z from passive consumers into active co-creators of Christian learning. Through an analysis of participatory interactions on platforms like Instagram and TikTok, the research examines how these digital environments facilitate the collective construction of religious knowledge. Findings reveal that user-generated content, dialogical exchanges, and communal interpretation of scripture empower young believers to shape personalized and contextually relevant theological understandings. The study concludes that social media acts as a pivotal catalyst for a participatory paradigm shift, fostering a dynamic, peer-driven faith formation process that redefines contemporary Christian pedagogy.

Abstract

The indigenous population of Papua consists of various tribes, cultures, and languages, and they inhabit the coast, riverbanks, valleys and mountains, with the majority adhering to Christianity. As Christians, most Papuans believe in the Bible as their source of teaching and guidance. Unfortunately, until now, the Papuan people have experienced various limitations in teaching the Holy Bible. Tribal languages are one of the causes of the obstacles in question, so it is related to teaching and faith formation in several places that use local languages. This encourages local people called to the ministry to equip themselves with Bible knowledge and skills that will hopefully enable them to develop themselves to serve the people in the area in question. Researchers conducted a study of students at the Indonesia Cross-Cultural Institute. They found that literacy became the main obstacle for local missionaries in the interior of Papua in interpreting the contents of the Bible. The process of fostering students at Indonesia Cross-Cultural Institute includes three essential things: the Stage of Knowledge of God, the Stage of Character Building, and the Stage of Knowledge and Skills. The method used in writing this article is qualitative research conducted through interviews and literature studies. Finally, this article proposes steps churches and education providers can take for prospective church service workers in Papua.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has transformed how faith is practiced and how Christian Religious Education is delivered, necessitating a theological reinterpretation of religious formation in digital contexts. This study aims to develop a theoretical framework that integrates theology, ethics, digital literacy, and spirituality to guide Christian education in the digital era. Employing a qualitative literature review method, the study analyzes scholarly works on digital theology, education, and ethics to examine how digital environments shape faith formation, moral reasoning, and community engagement. The findings reveal that digital media functions not merely as a communication tool but as a formative environment influencing spiritual identity and ethical behavior. The proposed digital Christian Religious Education model emphasizes four interrelated dimensions: theology as the foundation of faith, ethics as responsible digital citizenship, digital literacy as critical engagement, and spirituality as holistic formation across physical and virtual spaces. This study contributes to global discourse by offering an integrative and contextual approach that empowers Christian educators to foster authentic spiritual growth and responsible digital discipleship in an increasingly networked world.
