Abstract

Penelitian ini berupanya mendeskripsikan dua hal. Pertama, teknik-teknik permainan bunyi yang digunakan untuk membangun humor dalam meme. Kedua, cara permainan bunyi membangun humor dalam meme. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah semantik kombinatarial. Penelitian ini termasuk dalam penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Pengambilan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan purposive sampling.  Data dikumpulkan menggunakan teknik simak dan catat. Data dalam penelitian ini dianalisis menggunakan metode padan referensial dengan teknik dasar hubung banding (Mahsun, 2014), yaitu menghubung-bandingkan bentuk dan makna baru yang dihadirkan oleh permainan bunyi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa dari 100 meme yang dianalisis, ditemukan 156 data permainan bunyi. Permainan bunyi dalam meme terdiri atas 10 teknik permainan bunyi. Teknik permainan bunyi yang ditemukan antara lain adalah teknik substitusi dengan 100 data, teknik penyisipan dengan 14 data, teknik pelepasan dengan 14 data, teknik pemberian jeda dengan 10 data, teknik permutasi dengan 8 data, teknik penambahan dengan 4 data, teknik pemertahanan bunyi dengan 2 data, teknik penghilangan jeda dengan 2 data, teknik pengubahan jeda dengan 1 data, dan teknik pemanjangan bunyi dengan 1 data.

Abstract

Komunikasi yang efektif antara bidan dan pasien merupakan aspek fundamental dalam pelayanan kebidanan yang berkualitas. Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi penggunaan bahasa samar oleh bidan dalam interaksi dengan pasien di Polindes Permata Ibu, Pasuruan, Jawa Timur, Indonesia. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan desain studi kasus, penelitian ini bertujuan mengungkap fitur linguistik, pola, fungsi, dan implikasi dari penggunaan bahasa samar dalam komunikasi kebidanan. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi partisipatif, wawancara mendalam dengan bidan dan pasien, serta analisis dokumen. Analisis pragmatik dilakukan untuk mengidentifikasi fitur linguistik bahasa samar, seperti leksikon, eufemisme, ambiguitas semantik, pengalihan topik, dan normalisasi. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa bidan menggunakan kombinasi aspek bahasa samar dalam berbagai konteks interaksi dengan pasien, dengan pola dan urutan tertentu. Bahasa samar berfungsi untuk mengelola ketidakpastian dan ambiguitas, menjaga hubungan dan melindungi pasien dari tekanan emosional, serta sebagai alat defensif bagi bidan. Meskipun bahasa samar dapat digunakan secara strategis, penggunaannya yang liar berpotensi merusak kualitas komunikasi dan pengambilan keputusan dalam perawatan kebidanan. Penelitian ini menyoroti pentingnya pelatihan komunikasi yang lebih baik bagi bidan, dengan penekanan pada penyampaian informasi yang jelas, jujur, dan empatik. Temuan ini juga menginformasikan pengembangan pedoman etika komunikasi yang komprehensif untuk praktik kebidanan. Penelitian lebih lanjut diperlukan untuk mengeksplorasi perspektif pasien dan dampak penggunaan bahasa samar pada hasil perawatan kebidanan.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of the Johny Johny Yes Papa song on YouTube on early childhood English vocabulary acquisition. The purpose of this research is to analyze vocabulary improvement through engaging audio-visual exposure. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the study employs participant observation, parent interviews, and content analysis. The findings indicate that children who frequently watch this content are able to imitate words such as "yes," "no," "sugar," and "papa" and use these words in everyday contexts. Engaging visuals and repetition in the video help support vocabulary internalization. The study concludes that digital media like YouTube can effectively introduce a second language to young children through consistent exposure that aligns with their level of comprehension.

Abstract

The purposes of this research are (1) to describe the deviation of meaning in Cak Lontong’s humor materials (2) to describe the changing of constituent in Cak Lontong’s humor materials. This research is a descriptive-qualitative research. Listening method is used as the  data collecting technique, using technique of tap and write. The data analysis method is the reference equalization, using comparative technique to support codification, reduction, presentation, and interpretation. The results of this research are: Cak Lontong exploits gaps and possibilities of new meanings that can be used in words; Cak Lontong deviates meanings by establishing the second meaning as an effort to give surprise to his listeners; and Cak Lontong exploits figurative words of homonymy, e.g. “mengarungi” and “ngurusi” to play the meanings that are conveyed in using the language. The power of Cak Lontong’s humor is in the sensitivity in finding gaps of words, then presenting them by trapping listener’s interpretation to the unintended meanings. A changing constituent occurs to function of process to be participant, participant to participant, participant to circumstances, and circumstances to circumstances. It changes meanings and interpretations of a same word.

Abstract

Leo Tolstoy (1828–1910) is widely recognized as one of the most influential figures in Russian literature, whose works have had a lasting impact on the global literary canon. This study focuses on a critical analysis of two of his early novels, Kazak dan Penyerbuan, composed during Tolstoy’s service in the Caucasus. Despite their seemingly slow narrative progression, these works employ a deliberate pacing that reflects both the existential stillness of military life and the moral introspection characteristic of Tolstoy’s evolving philosophy. This paper addresses the problem of how Tolstoy articulates the ideals of peace and morality within the structure of narrative and character development in these early works. Utilizing a close reading method combined with historical-literary contextualization, the study identifies three major elements: Tolstoy’s thematic construction of peace, the mediation of moral reflection through dialogue and narrative events, and his technique of narrative immersion. By situating Kazak and The Invasion within the broader historical context of 19th-century Russian imperial expansion into the Caucasus, this analysis contributes to a deeper understanding of Tolstoy’s early engagement with ethical and existential questions. The study proposes that these early texts not only anticipate Tolstoy’s later moral philosophy but also offer a foundational perspective for mapping Tolstoy’s evolving literary and ideological trajectory within Russian literature.

Abstract

The objectives of this study are: (1) to describe how the use of homonyms creates semantic deviation as a strategy to build humor in memes, and (2) to describe the patterns of semantic deviation that utilize homonyms. This research is a descriptive qualitative study. Data were collected using the observation method with advanced note-taking techniques. Data analysis employed the referential equivalent method with comparative techniques to support coding, reduction, presentation, and interpretation in line with the qualitative research framework. The findings of this study indicate that the use of homonymic meaning relations includes basic words, derivations, foreign terms, and slang. Semantic deviations utilizing homonyms were found to occur due to euphemisms, naming, and pauses. In addition to homonyms, the use of homophones and homographs through word abbreviations was also observed. Three patterns were identified in creating semantic deviations using homonyms: (1) the deviated word is accompanied by explanatory text, (2) the deviated word is paired with an image as an explanation, and (3) the deviated word does not appear as a linguistic symbol but is implied through an image with text as clarification. The key elements driving semantic deviation in memes are images and the use of collocations. Proper collocations effectively mislead the reader before surprising them with the secondary meaning. This research provides a valuable framework for analyzing humor in digital media and broadens the scope of linguistic studies by emphasizing the relationship between meaning, creativity, and audience interpretation.

Abstract

The critical reading ability of prospective teacher students remains a serious issue in higher education, particularly in regions with low literacy levels such as Probolinggo Regency, which has the lowest Community Literacy Development Index (IPLM) in East Java, thus demanding transformative pedagogical strategies to foster students' reflective reasoning and discourse awareness. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of a critical literacy approach in improving the critical reading ability of students in the Indonesian Language Education Study Program at Zainul Hasan Genggong University (UNZAH) through strengthening six dimensions of critical thinking according to Facione's model, namely interpretation, analysis, inference, evaluation, explanation, and self-regulation. This study employs a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group, involving 50 students divided into experimental and control classes, and analyzes data through ANCOVA testing to determine the effect of treatment after controlling for initial scores (pretest). The results show a significant improvement in the experimental group (p < 0.001), particularly in the interpretation and inference dimensions, and confirm that the critical literacy approach is the main factor in improving students' posttest scores. Thus, the critical literacy approach proves effective as a pedagogical strategy in Islamic higher education to develop teachers who are not only capable of reading texts but also of reading the world critically, reflectively, and with intellectual responsibility.
