Abstract

The growth of Cantang grouper is influenced not only by genetic factors but also by the quality of feed, particularly the protein content, which is closely related to amino acid levels. This study aims to investigate the effect of adding commercial amino acids to feed on the growth of Cantang grouper. The research was conducted using an experimental method with a Randomized Block Design (RBD), comprising four treatments and three replicates of amino acid doses added to commercial feed: P0 (0%), P1 (1%), P2 (2%), and P3 (3%). The parameters observed included survival rate, weight growth rate, length growth rate, specific growth rate, and feed conversion ratio. The results showed that adding amino acids to commercial feed over a 21-day rearing period significantly affected all parameters (p<0.05). The highest survival rate, weight growth, length increase, and specific growth rate were found in the P2 treatment with the values of 95.00 ± 5.00%, 7.40 ± 0.24 g, 3.69 ± 0.75 cm, 9.83 ± 0.15%/day, respectively. In addition, the lowest feed conversion ratio was obtained in the P2 treatment (1.22 ± 0.03).

Abstract

The community service program in RT 02 RW 04 Penjaringansari, Surabaya, aims to tackle the challenges of population growth and global climate change by promoting urban farming, fish cultivation, and the use of family medicinal plants (TOGA). This initiative helps strengthen family economic resilience by utilizing home gardens, while also contributing to sustainable development or the Green Economy. However, the program faces several issues, such as the lack of productive business development, uncertain quality of herbal products, and the absence of integrated management between plant and fish cultivation. The proposed solutions include business development through creating a proper business model, integrating urban farming with aquaponics using Wolkaponik technology, and improving the quality and certification of herbal products. The results show increased community knowledge of integrated farming technology, herbal product training, and the formation of an urban farming group with a vision of a nature-friendly lifestyle. The program also involves students in mentoring and training, yielding positive impacts on food security, environmental aesthetics, and local community welfare.

Abstract

Vannamei shrimp are cultured biota that are very vulnerable to the surrounding environment. Water quality conditions that are not ideal can cause shrimp to experience stress and inhibit their growth. This study aimed to determine the appropriate dose of fermented rice bran and EM4 as probiotics based on their impact on improving the water quality of vannamei shrimp culture ponds. This study was conducted by applying 3 different treatments consisting of control, treatment 1 with fermented rice bran dose of 25 g and EM4 10 ml and treatment 2 with fermented rice bran dose of 50 g and EM4 20 ml. Seven water quality parameters were measured, temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, nitrate, nitrite, ammonia, and phosphate. The results showed that the water quality conditions of shrimp ponds were quite ideal and treatment 1 with a fermentation dose of 25 g rice bran and 10 ml EM4 was consistently superior in improving water quality conditions compared to other treatments.

Abstract

The barramundi, also known as Asian sea bass, has the ability to adapt to various environmental conditions. Indonesia has introduced barramundi from different regions, including Australia, which is known to have a faster growth rate and larger body size. At the same time, the Indonesian strain demonstrates greater resilience to local conditions but grows more slowly. This study evaluates the hatchery performance of Australian and Indonesian strains of barramundi (Lates calcarifer) in a controlled environment using circular concrete ponds. The research examines water quality, spawning productivity, and larval development. The results indicate that the Australian strain produces more eggs than the Indonesian strain, with a hatching rate of 62%. Key water quality parameters, including temperature (28.3–28.6°C), pH (8.26–8.29), and salinity (33–35 ppt), were generally favorable for successful spawning and larval development. Additionally, providing live feed, such as rotifers and Artemia, improved larval growth up to the early juvenile stage. The significant differences in productivity between the two strains highlight the importance of genetic selection and nutritional management in optimizing barramundi hatchery production. This study underscores the need for superior strain selection and the application of science-based aquaculture strategies to enhance the sustainability of barramundi production in Indonesia.

Abstract

The community service program in Boyolali Regency aims to increase the productivity of the fisheries sector through assistance with laserpuncture technology, the application of microdiet and natural feed, and the production of synbiotics. The methods used include counseling and direct practice involving more than 40 local fish farmers. The results of the program show that the application of laserpuncture and nutritional engineering through microdiet and synbiotics tecknology are increase fish growth. Participation and positive responses from the community show high enthusiasm for new technology which has a direct impact on productivity and the local economy. It is hoped that this program can be implemented independently in sustainable fisheries businesses.
