Abstract

One of the keys to successful counseling is the personal quality of the counselor. However, early counselors tend not to have these competencies. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-confidence and the successful implementation of student counseling. The research uses a quantitative approach with the correlational method. The sample in this study were 87 students who had studied counseling theory and practice and had practiced counseling. Data were analyzed using Pearson Product Moment with the help of SPSS 25 for Windows. The results show no relationship between the variables x and y, so it can be concluded that there is no significant relationship between self-confidence and the success of counseling.

Abstract

This meta-analytical study aimed to examine the effectiveness of reality therapy in enhancing students learning motivation and discipline. Seven experimental studies were selected as the sample of the study using purposive sampling technique. These selected studies reported the effect of reality therapy on learning motivation and discipline. The analysis was done using pre-post contrast meta-analysis. The calculation result showed a weighted mean effect score of 2.818. The mean effect size score is the parameter that represents effective contribution. This positive score indicates that the post-test score is higher than the pre-test score. Accordingly, it could be concluded that reality therapy is effective for enhancing learning motivation and discipline.

Abstract

This study aims to conduct a meta-analysis of the effectiveness of gestalt counseling in increasing students' self-confidence. The study meta-analyzed eight research results on the effectiveness of gestalt counseling in increasing students' self-confidence. Analysis was performed using a pre post contrasts meta-analysis. The results show the mean value of the weighted effect (M) of 3.484, meaning that the difference between the pre-test and post-test scores was 3.484. A positive value on M indicates that the post-test score is higher than the pre-test. The value of the mean effect size is a parameter that shows the effective contribution. Based on these data, it can be concluded that gestalt counseling is effective in increasing students' self-confidence. The results of this study are expected to conclude the effect of using gestalt counseling in schools to overcome students' self-confidence problems. In addition, the results of this study are useful for counselors in carrying out counseling, both individual and group counseling, to increase students' self-confidence.

Abstract

Adolescence is a transitional phase toward adulthood characterized by emotional and social challenges, particularly for orphanage adolescents who experience limited family support and the structured dynamics of institutional care. This study aims to explore how resilience develops among orphanage adolescents, examined through Grotberg’s (1999) framework of resilience as the primary analytical lens. Using a qualitative case study design, data were collected through interviews and observations involving two female adolescents living in an orphanage with different family backgrounds. The findings reveal that resilience is formed through three interrelated aspects: I Have, I Am, and I Can. Social support from caregivers and peers fosters a sense of security (I Have), personal strengths such as empathy and self-confidence nurture perseverance (I Am), while communication skills and emotional regulation facilitate positive adaptation (I Can). Overall, the resilience of orphanage adolescents emerges from the interaction between external social support, internal personal strengths, and socio-emotional competencies that enable them to grow into strong, adaptive, and independent individuals.
