Abstract

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease with a high incidence and is in first place for the ten most common diseases in Malang City in 2021-2022. The management of hypertension in the community is aimed at maintaining and improving health status by increasing the active role of the community in solving problems. This community service activity is carried out with the "AKSI" (Hypertension Control Activity) program which contains hypertension class activities and the application of complementary therapy to warm water foot soaks and ginger to lower blood pressure. This activity was conducted with 20 hypertension participants who participated in hypertension class activities for 4 meetings. Assessment of success was carried out by measuring knowledge and blood pressure on the pre-test and post-test. The activity results showed an increase in participants' knowledge with an average pre-test score of 60 increasing to 90 during the post-test. Meanwhile, in blood pressure, there was a moderate decrease in systole of 34 mmHg and an average decrease in diastolic of 11 mmHg. It is hoped that this activity will become one of the strategies for managing hypertension in the community.

Abstract

Klebsiella pneumoniae (K. pneumoniae) belongs to the Enterobacteriaceae family, which is known as Gram-negative, encapsulated, and non-motile bacteria. One of its most important virulence factors of K. pneumoniae is the ability to form biofilms. A high percentage of K. pneumoniae as biofilm formation is associated with a high incidence of antibiotic resistance, leading to higher morbidity and mortality. This study aimed to evaluate biofilm formation of clinical isolates of K. pneumonia from Pontianak, West Kalimantan. A total of 24 K. pneumoniae clinical isolates from various specimens were subjected to biofilm formation detection. The biofilm formation was detected by crystal violet formation at wavelength of 570 nm as indicator using microtiter plate assay. As control of biofilm formation was Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923, and as control of non-biofilm formation was Staphylococcus epidermidis ATCC 12228. Data on biofilm formation of the isolates from various specimens were analyzed using Fisher’s exact test with SPSS Ver. 26. All the K. pneumoniae clinical isolates were biofilm producer consisting of 19 isolates were strong biofilm producer, four were moderate biofilm producer, and one isolates was weak biofilm producer. No association between biofilm formation and specimen type was observed (p=0.541). In conclusion, all K. pneumoniae clinical isolates from Pontianak, West Kalimantan are identified as biofilm producer.

Abstract

The quality of Fiqh instruction at the Madrasah Aliyah level continues to face challenges, particularly in fostering student engagement and deep conceptual understanding of normative-reflective content. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in improving student learning outcomes on the topic of "Pillars and Conditions of Marriage" at MAN 2 Kota Sukabumi. Employing a quantitative approach with a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, the study was conducted in two cycles. Data were collected through formative tests, classroom observations, and student motivation questionnaires, and analyzed using both descriptive quantitative and qualitative methods. The findings reveal an increase in students’ average scores from 69.30 in the first cycle to 75.77 in the second cycle, with mastery learning rising from 59% to 94%. Additionally, affective and psychomotor indicators showed substantial improvement. These results indicate that PBL is effective in fostering active student engagement and enhancing contextual understanding in Fiqh learning. The practical implication suggests the broader adoption of PBL in religious education to develop students’ holistic 21st-century competencies.
