Abstract

The necessity of chili (Capsicum annuum L.) increases highly in line with the enhancement of residents and the food industry development that need chili ingredients. It affects the commodity to become an often-discussed commodity in society because its price can increase highly in certain conditions. The study aimed to obtain the resistance of anthracnose disease to ten varieties of chili (Capsicum annuum L.) hybrid IPB in Karawang lower altitudes. The research was conducted in Trial Field of Peruri, Teluk Jambe Sub-district, Karawang District, Jawa Barat from February to July 2022. The research used the randomized complete group design (RKLT) method with 3 replications. There are 10 treatments such as A (F1074005), B (F1074003), C (F1374005), D (F1374003), E (CH3), F (BAJA), G (BALEBAT), H (ELEGANCE), I (IMPERIAL 10), dan J (GADA). Treatment factor was analyzed with variety analysis and if F test at  5%  level was significant, then continued DMRT test at 5% level to find out the best treatments. Treatment I (IMPERIAL 10) had highest result on fruit length and fruit stalk length and was highly resistant to anthracnose disease. Treatment C (Genotype F1374005) had highest result on fruit weight and was highly resistant to anthracnose disease. Keywords: anthracnose, chili, genotype

Abstract

Chili (Capsicum annuum L.) is a horticultural commodity that has high economic value and is widely used for both household and industrial needs. This study aims to identify the quantitative characters of IPB chili varieties in the Karawang Lowlands that have the best potential in the Karawang Lowlands. This research was conducted from April 2022 to August 2022 at the Lahan Percobaan PERURI in Teluk Jambe Timur, Karawang Regency, West Java. This study was arranged using a Ramdomized Group Design (RGD) with 10 genotype treatments and 3 replications, in each land there were 10 samples with a total of 300 experimental units. The data were analyzed using analysis of variance and DMRT (Duncan Multiple Range Test) at 5% level. The results of this experiment indicated that there was a significant effect of the quantitative character appearance of red chili on the components of flowering age, harvesting age, plant height, fruit weight, fruit diameter, fruit weight, 1000 seed weight, number of each fruit plant, weight of each land, productivity. The G1, G2, and G3 genotypes have the potential to be listed as new varieties because they have better yielding power that is different from the genotypes of other commercial varieties..Keywords: hybrid, character, performance, productivity, superior varieties

Abstract

One of the causes of the decreased production of sweet corn (Zea mays L. saccharata Sturt.) is the attack  by disease. Some important diseases that attack sweet corn is leaf blight and leaf rust. Use of hybrid varieties one of the solution which can be used to reduce the crop loss caused by disease. This study aimed to testing the level of resistance of sweet corn hybrid candidates against important corn disease. The research was conducted in the Ambu Garden, Pusakamulya Village, Kiarapedes sub District, Purwakarta District, from July 2021 to September 2021. The design used was a non-factorial randomized block design (RAK) with 33 genotypes of prospective hybrids and 3 commercial comparison varieties and 3 replications. The test result on leaf blight and leaf rust there are several hybrids candidate shows a resistant to moderately resistant reaction. From testing against leaf blight, there are 8 hybrids candidate showed a resistant reaction to moderately resistant. The test result against leaf rust disease, there are 9 hybrids candidate showed resistant to moderately resistant reaction. Overall, the test results against leaf blight disease and leaf rust disease there are  six candidates of sweet corn hybrids that show resistant reaction against both disease, there is UNSIKA 33, 35, 36, 37, 41, and 44 with an average attack intensity of 20,00%. Keywords: Hybrid varieties,Leaf blight, Leaf rust, Sweet corn

Abstract

Red chili (Capisum annuum L.) is a horticultural commodity that has high economic value. Chili production in Indonesia is increasing, but it’s still unable to meet the needs of the Indonesian people, so it is necessary to assemble high-quality and high-yielding hybrid seeds. This study aims to identify the quantitative characters of 4 IPB hybrid chili lines with 6 commercial varieties as a comparison. This research was conducted in April-September 2022 at the Experimental Land PERURI in Teluk Jambe Timur District, Karawang Regency. The method used was an experimental method with a single factor randomized block design (RAK) with chili genotypes as the treatment. The treatment consisted of 4 expected lines namely F1.074005, F1.074003, F1.374005 and F1.374003 and 6 commercial control varieties namely CH3, Baja, Balebat, Elegance, Imperial 10 and Gada. Each genotype was repeated 3 times so that there were 30 experimental units and each experimental unit consisted of 10 plants. The data obtained will be analyzed at the 5% level F test with the Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT). Based on the experimental results, it was shown that there were treatments that had a significant effect on the yield component of fruit weight per plant, namely genotypes F1.374003 and F1.074003. The hopeful hybrid F1.374003 also gave the highest yield in the productivity yield component (4.67 tonnes/ha).
