Abstract

Abstract This research aims to analyze and describe the perceptions of grade X PAI teachers at SMAN 66 Jakarta regarding implementing the Kurikulum Merdeka. In this research, a qualitative approach was used. Data was collected through interviews with PAI teachers, the Deputy Principal for Curriculum, and students of SMAN 66 Jakarta. The data obtained was classified into two forms using the Walgito perception technique: positive and negative. The data consists of four aspects: innovation, democratic school culture, development of learning quality, and quality of learning outcomes in numeracy, literacy, and character. The research shows that the Kurikulum Merdeka tends to be perceived positively because (1) the Lurikulum Merdeka provides space for innovation; (2) The Kurikulum Merdeka accommodates democracy; (3) The Kurikulum Merdeka promotes and guarantees students' critical thinking; (4) The Kurikulum Merdeka through the P5 program helps PAI teachers improve student learning outcomes in terms of numeracy, literacy and character. On the other hand, the Kurikulum Merdeka is perceived negatively because (1) There is a lack of sufficient budget and facilities to implement; and (2) PAI teachers think that there are not many changes from the Kurikulum 2013 concept to the Kurikulum Merdeka.
