Abstract

Introduction – During the Corona Virus (Covid-19) pandemic whose cases are still up and down until now in March 2022, the prevalence of victims who were confirmed positive for Covid in Indonesia was around 5,948,610 and 153,411 victims who died. The Covid-19 incident which continues to increase every day has made health workers as frontline workers even more depressed due to increased workloads, increased anxiety about one's own health and fear of infecting others. Purpose – This study aims to determine the effect of Self Help Group (SHG) on anxiety levels in nursing professional students who are confirmed positive for COVID-19. Methodology/Approach – This study uses a quasi-experimental methods pre-test and post-test without control group, meaning that data collection is carried out before and after the intervention by giving a Self Help Group. The instrument used is HARS (Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale) to measure the level of anxiety. Self Help Group is conducted four times a month, once a week with a total of 11 respondents. Findings intervention Self Help Group on a regular basis, in 11 nursing professional students there was a decrease in the level of anxiety. Anxiety experienced by students before being given the intervention was Very Severe Anxiety (46%), Severe Anxiety (18%), Mild Anxiety (18%), and No Anxiety (18%). After the intervention, there was a change in the level of anxiety with the results of Very Severe Anxiety (0%), Severe Anxiety (18%), Mild Anxiety (9%), and No Anxiety (73%). Originality/ Value/ Implication – Self Help Group has proven to be an effective intervention to reduce anxiety levels in nursing professional students who are confirmed positive for COVID-19.

Abstract

Abstract: This study investigates the challenges faced by English teachers in teaching speaking skills in state junior high schools in Sidoarjo, Indonesia, particularly in the post-pandemic era. Through interviews and class observations with three experienced teachers, the research identifies student-related challenges such as lack of participation, slow speech, and limited vocabulary, as well as teacher-related challenges including curriculum constraints and limited English proficiency. The findings highlight the need for innovative teaching strategies and curriculum adaptations to improve students' speaking proficiency. This research fills a knowledge gap by offering insights into the specific challenges of teaching speaking in an EFL context post-pandemic and suggests avenues for future research to deepen understanding and develop effective solutions. Abstrak: Penelitian ini menyelidiki tantangan yang dihadapi oleh guru bahasa Inggris dalam mengajarkan keterampilan berbicara di sekolah menengah pertama negeri di Sidoarjo, Indonesia, khususnya di era pasca pandemi. Melalui wawancara dan observasi kelas dengan tiga guru yang berpengalaman, penelitian ini mengidentifikasi tantangan yang berhubungan dengan siswa seperti kurangnya partisipasi, lambatnya berbicara, dan terbatasnya kosakata, serta tantangan yang berhubungan dengan guru termasuk kendala kurikulum dan kemampuan bahasa Inggris yang terbatas. Temuan ini menyoroti perlunya strategi pengajaran yang inovatif dan adaptasi kurikulum untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara siswa. Penelitian ini mengisi kesenjangan pengetahuan dengan menawarkan wawasan tentang tantangan spesifik pengajaran berbicara dalam konteks EFL pasca pandemi dan menyarankan jalan untuk penelitian di masa depan untuk memperdalam pemahaman dan mengembangkan solusi yang efektif.

Abstract

Lembaga Tuha Peut merupakan lembaga adat Aceh yang berperan penting dalam menjaga keberlangsungan hukum adat dan menjadi mitra pemerintah gampong dalam pemberdayaan, pelestarian, serta pengembangan adat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan yuridis empiris, melalui teknik observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peran Tuha Peut dalam penyelesaian sengketa adat pertunangan modern di Gampong Alue Awe bersifat aktif namun belum sepenuhnya efektif. Dalam proses penyelesaian, Tuha Peut bekerja sama dengan Keuchik, Imum Chik, dan perangkat gampong lainnya. Tahap awal penyelesaian dilakukan dengan arahan dan nasihat kepada pihak yang bersengketa. Tuha Peut dan aparat gampong menolak praktik pertunangan modern karena dianggap bertentangan dengan syariat Islam dan Qanun Aceh. Hambatan yang dihadapi terutama berasal dari rendahnya kesadaran masyarakat yang tetap mengikuti kebiasaan pertunangan modern atas dasar pengaruh zaman. Sebagai upaya perbaikan, Tuha Peut dan aparat gampong telah memberlakukan larangan dan teguran lisan kepada masyarakat agar tidak melaksanakan adat pertunangan modern. Dengan demikian, Tuha Peut tetap berperan aktif dalam menjaga kemurnian adat sesuai nilai Islam di Gampong Alue Awe.
