Abstract

Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) is a conservation area in East Java with an abundance of biodiversity, including macrofungi. This study aims to identify the macrofungal species existing in Poncokusumo district, TNBTS area, and their habitat characteristics for a further sustainable study of fungi. This study used a purposive sampling method by opportunistic exploration. Identification of macrofungi is conducted by morphological analysis and habitat characterization. The study identified 15 macrofungal species categorized as Ascomycota and Basidiomycota, that were distinct in their habitat characteristics. The 15 macrofungal species inhabited leaf litter, wood litter, soil, and bamboo.

Abstract

Community-based waste management is a program designed to empower citizens, who are the primary producers of household waste, to take responsibility for ensuring that the waste they generate is sorted and utilized as efficiently as possible before disposal. This initiative aims to empower residents to manage organic waste by applying composter reactor technology through anaerobic fermentation methods within residential areas. To implement this program, we have partnered with the BSU ASRI BMP Waste Bank Unit, which has been active since 2021 and possesses experience and expertise in waste management. The activity began with planning, followed by a series of steps including socialization, demonstrations, the creation, and distribution of composters. The program concluded with an evaluation to assess the sustainability and effectiveness of the activities carried out. The results show that the application of composter reactor technology on the dasa wisma community has successfully transformed household waste into compost and liquid organic fertilizer. These products have been used as planting media and fertilizers for ornamental and horticultural plants at home gardens. Additionally, the use of decomposers has significantly reduced the volume of organic waste previously discarded by converting it into valuable products.

Abstract

In previous investigation of vermicomposting process of palm oil empty fruit bunches, five cellulase-producing microorganisms had been isolated. An isolated VTM1 identified as Aspergillus sp. as a cellulase producing mold, and proven produced extracellular cellulase in solid state fermentation of palm oil empty fruit bunches. The obtaining crude cellulase was purified to homogeneity by ammonium sulfate precipitation, gel filtration on Sephadex G-100 chromatography, and finally purified on ion exchange chromatography on DEAE Cellulofine A-500. The yield and purification fold were 12.89% and 107.50, respectively. The purified cellulase was easily released glucose when 5% CMC applied as substrate, as shown by TLC analysis. The purified cellulase had an optimal pH and temperature at 4.0 and 45°C, and was stable at pH 3-7 and 30-50°C, respectively.

Abstract

Macroscopic fungi are a critical component of the ecosystem, besides their use in human life. This study aimed to explain edible and medicinal macroscopic fungi in terms of socio-cultural. Ethnomycological studies were uses in holistically analysis between mycology and social science. Specimen collection and interviews were conducted using purposive sampling in 5 sampling stations in Jember to determine the diversity of macroscopic fungi and their cultural significance. Quantitative approaches were used to determine Use values (UV). This study found nineteen edible and medicinal macroscopic fungi included in Basidiomycota and Ascomycota. The highest UV was obtained by P. ostreatus and Termitomyces spp. used for food. Information about macroscopic fungi was obtained from oral history.

Abstract

Daya ingat merupakan kemampuan seseorang dalam menerima, menyimpan dan mengelola informasi yang telah diterimanya. Kemampuan daya ingat sangat penting bagi siswa dalam menerima dan memahami materi pelajaran yang diterimanya selama proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh metode jembatan keledai terhadap daya ingat istilah nama latin siswa pada materi animalia kelas X MIPA. Kajian penelitian yang diadaptasi adalah Quasi Eksperimen dengan rancangan Nonequivalent Control Group Design.  Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan Purposive Sampling, kelas X MIPA 4 sebagai kelas kontrol berjumlah 32 siswa dan kelas X MIPA 5 sebagai kelas eksperimen berjumlah 35 siswa. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan adalah soal pretest-posttest pilihan ganda, dengan teknik analisis data menggunakan uji analisis deskriptif dan U Mann Whitney. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan daya ingat siswa pada kelas eksperimen ditinjau dari nilai minimum 4, maksimum 10, mean 7,14 dan standar deviasi 1,785, sedangkan pada kelas kontrol nilai minimum 2, maksimum 8, mean 4,72 dan standar deviasi 2,052. Analisis data kedua kelompok dengan uji U Mann Whitney memperoleh hasil 0,000 < 0,05 yang menyatakan hipotesis diterima. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan daya ingat istilah nama latin antara siswa kelas eksperimen dengan siswa kelas kontrol pada materi animalia kelas X MIPA di MAN 2 Jember.

Abstract

Desa Sindetlami merupakan salah satu sentra penghasil cabai di Kabupaten Probolinggo. Kegagalan panen cabai beberapa waktu lalu diduga salah satunya karena adanya hama serangga. Keanekaragaman serangga ini bisa dimanfaatkan sebagai sumber belajar yang dapat memadukan antara pengetahuan faktual dan proses pembelajaran di dalam kelas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan proses pengembangan katalog keanekaragaman serangga pada tanaman cabai di Desa Sindetlami sebagai sumber belajar pada mata pelajaran Biologi. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian dan pengembangan menggunakan model 4D (define, design, develop, dissemination). Hasil validasi media yaitu 89,5%, hasil validasi materi yaitu 89,95% dan hasil validasi oleh guru biologi yaitu 83%. Hasil validasi rata-rata yaitu sebesar 87,4% yang berarti bahwa produk yang dihasilkan bisa digunakan tanpa revisi.
