Abstract

Purpose – This training and mentoring activity aims to provide solutions to problems by introducing techniques for making organic fertilizers and vegetable pesticides that are easy to apply. This training not only focuses on theory, but also on direct practice in the field, so that participants can feel the real benefits of this training. Design/methodology/approach – The method used in this training and mentoring starts from several stages consisting of the preparation stage including, identification of needs, use of tools and materials, and selection of locations. The second is the training implementation stage, which includes the provision of materials and demonstrations or direct practice with participants. Findings – After the training and mentoring at Perkumpulan Tani Pemuda Darul Mukmin, some significant results were obtained, both in terms of knowledge and skills. For the improvement of participants' knowledge before the training, most of them were still dependent on chemical fertilizers and synthetic pesticides due to limited knowledge of organic farming methods. Through this activity, their understanding of the importance of organic fertilizers and plant-based pesticides increased. While in terms of skills, participants can make organic fertilizers and vegetable pesticides from materials in the surrounding environment. Originality/value – Trainees are able to make and are ready to apply it on their own land.

Abstract

Potatoes are upland vegetable crops, which is the superior plant of Tosari District, Pasuruan Regency. Tosari potatoes are the largest contributor to production in East Java. The farmer profession is the main profession in this area, inherited from the family. The land area owned is inherited from the family. The agricultural land area varies, but still found farmers with a land area of more than one hectare. In this study, respondents were divided into two groups, namely farmers with a land area of ≥ 1 hectare called cluster I and respondent farmers with a land area of ≤ 0.5 hectares called cluster II. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of production inputs on potato production, to analyze the level of technical efficiency of potato farmers with different land areas, to analyze the factors affecting the level of technical efficiency. The study was conducted by interviewing 49 respondent farmers in Cluster I and 70 respondent farmers in Cluster II. This study uses the Cobb Douglas production function, the analytical methods used are the Stochastic Analysis Frontier (SFA) and the Tobit regression analysis. The results showed that the production inputs that had a significant effect on production in cluster I were seeds, fertilizers, and manure, while in cluster II were fertilizers and pesticides. The level of technical efficiency of farmers who have a land area of ≥ 1 hectare is greater than farmers with a land area of ≤0.5 hectares. The land area has a significant effect on the level of technical efficiency.

Abstract

Waste cooking oil poses environmental and health risks if improperly managed. This community service study aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of residents in Dayurejo Village, Prigen, in safe and environmentally friendly waste cooking oil management through a socialization program involving the Pemda 9 youth group. Methods included interactive lectures, practical demonstrations of converting waste oil into useful products, and discussion sessions. Pre- and post-activity questionnaires assessed changes in participants’ knowledge and skills. Results showed significant improvements: awareness of waste oil hazards increased from 40% to 90%, knowledge of safe handling from 20% to 85%, and ability to identify environmental impacts from 35% to 88%. Interactive and hands-on approaches effectively promoted awareness and active participation. Regular implementation of similar programs is recommended to support a cleaner, healthier, and more productive environment.

Abstract

Abstrak Pasar bermula dari keinginan sejumlah orang untuk memenuhi kebutuhannya. Pada mulanya transaksi dilakukan dengan sistem barter, yakni dengan cara tukar-menukar barang yang dimiliki dengan barang yang dikehendaki. Misalnya, seorang nelayan menukar ikan dengan barang kelontong yang dibutuhkan. Terjadi barter hasil produksi antara petani, nelayan, peternak, pengrajin yang dilakukan si sembarang tempat. Lama kelamaan terbentuk kesepakatan untuk melakukan barter di suatu tempat. Jadilah lokasi itu semacam tempat barter hasil produksi masing-masing. Hasil penelitian ini telah menemukan bahwa harga produk sembako di Pasar Umum dan Supermarket Aneka berbeda, yang dimana selisih harga produk sembako di Pasar Umum dan Supermarket Aneka paling rendahnya 500 dan yang paling tinggi 10.000, dikarenakan di Supermarket Aneka adanya proses pengemasan agar barangnya telihat lebih higenis dan berkualitas tinggi. Kemudian berdasaekan hasil lapangan menemukan bahwa masyarakat lebih suka berbelanja di Pasar Umum, karena daya belinya rendah dan ketika berbelanja lebih melihat harga barang dibanding kualitas barang.
