Abstract

This study analyzed primary school children's drawings from a drawing competition to explore their attitudes towards environmental care. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, data collection was conducted through observation, interviews, and document analysis. Data analysis was performed using an interactive model analysis technique. The findings reveal that the drawings depict both school and living environments, featuring objects from children's daily activities. The drawings do not fit into a single category, but are a mix of organic, structural, schematic, expressionist, and literary types. The drawing objects were depicted naturally and proportionally using primary colors. The students' visual expressions predominantly used green, red, yellow, and brown, with minimal mixing. The way the drawings are expressed shows the children's personal expressions, but the choice of objects tends to be influenced by adult thinking. The contribution of teachers in developing children's cognitive and skill skills is evident in their drawings, as revealed by interviews with the children regarding the sources of their ideas. Drawing objects reflect children's attitudes, behaviors, and values regarding environmental care, illustrated through scenes such as playing in the schoolyard, family settings, playground objects, school activities, and natural environments. The shapes were naturalistic, simple, overlapping, reclining, and layered with no transparent objects. Their choice of objects and techniques was shaped by their knowledge and experience of nature, with each drawing outlined. Children use drawings to express life events and experiences, so teachers should value these drawings, as research often overlooks children's perspectives in favor of adult viewpoints.

Abstract

Libraries have an important role in supporting academic research. Librarians are not only tasked With managing information resources, but also play a role in assisting researshers in the process of searching for information, processing data, and publishing research result. The aim of this research is to identify the role of librarians in supporting academic research, both in terms of services, infrastructure and information literacy. The research result shows that the role of librarians is very important in increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of academic research. Information literacy and the proper use of electronic resources are two areas in which librarians may make a difference. Since it stores, processes, and provides the information sources required throughout the research process of its academic community, the library plays a crucial role as a supporting element of universities in research operations. However, up until now, the university library has mostly served as a repository for research findings and has played little to no role in the actual research process. First, the library should revitalise its reference collection in order to better assist researchers. 2. Providing academics with information literacy training, Thirdly, recording findings from studies.

Abstract

This article explores the creation process of hand-drawn batik artworks featuring the black cat as the main motif in aesthetic bedroom furnishings for a Minangkabau girl, traditionally referred to as “Si Upiak.” The choice of the black cat was driven by the intention to challenge negative stereotypes rooted in traditional myths. Through stylized forms and the hand-drawn batik technique, the author produced seven textile works functioning as both decorative and educational elements, including bed sheets, pillowcases, night lamps, and sleepwear. Each piece combines the visual elements of the black cat and lily flowers as symbols of strength, sincerity, and comfort within a personal space. The creation process follows the stages of preparation, elaboration, synthesis, conceptual realization, and finishing. The resulting works demonstrate a blend of aesthetic, symbolic, and functional values within the context of local culture and contemporary artistic expression. This work aims to enrich the discourse of textile craft art while serving as a medium for value transformation in society.

Abstract

Indonesia's rich marine biodiversity, including the symbiotic relationship between clownfish and sea anemones, has not been widely raised as a theme in contemporary batik works, even though it has the potential to become a medium for children's education. This research aims to create a batik painting with the theme of clownfish and sea anemone for children's room decoration, which combines aesthetic values and educational messages about the importance of protecting marine ecosystems. The method used is practice-based research through five stages: preparation, elaboration, synthesis, concept realization, and completion. Data was collected through visual observation, literature study, consultation with batik artisans and art observers, and evaluation of works through exhibitions. The technique applied is painted batik with color colet using a brush on primissima mori cloth, plus decorative elements in the form of glitter. The research results are ten painted batik works that represent the theme of underwater life, with the application of fine art principles such as unity, balance, and rhythm, as well as presenting cheerful and educational visuals for children. In conclusion, these painted batik works not only successfully display the beauty of the relationship between clownfish and sea anemone, but also effectively become a medium to raise children's awareness of the importance of marine biodiversity conservation.
