Abstract

Numeracy skills are one of the essential competencies that students must possess to face the challenges of 21st-century learning. However, students' numeracy skills remain relatively low due to conventional teaching practices, limited student engagement in the learning process, and the lack of interactive learning media. These conditions result in low learning motivation, limited participation, and difficulties in solving numeracy problems related to real-life situations. This study aims to develop gamification-based interactive learning media integrated with the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model to improve the numeracy skills of seventh-grade students at MTs Az-Zainuddin. The study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which consists of five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The research subjects were 20 seventh-grade students of MTs Az-Zainuddin. The research instruments included expert validation questionnaires, student response questionnaires, observation sheets, and numeracy tests in the form of pretests and posttests. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics to determine the validity and practicality of the developed media, while the N-Gain test was used to measure its effectiveness in improving students’ numeracy skills. The product developed is a gamification-based digital learning medium that incorporates numeracy materials, points, levels, challenges, feedback, and project activities aligned with the syntax of Project Based Learning. The results are expected to demonstrate that the developed media is valid, practical, and effective, making it a promising alternative for innovative numeracy learning in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a Montessori reading book containing Bima local wisdom that meets the criteria of validity, practicality, and effectiveness in improving the beginning reading skills of second-grade elementary school students. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model, which includes five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The study subjects consisted of 17 second-grade students at Rada Public Elementary School. Data collection techniques included expert validation questionnaires, student response questionnaires, and beginning reading ability tests administered in the form of pre- and post-tests. The results showed that the developed product had a very high level of validity, with assessments from media experts at 90%, material experts at 92.5%, and lesson plan validators at 92.5%. Furthermore, the media's practicality was classified as very good, with a student response rate of 96.17%, indicating that the media was easy to use and engaging for students. In terms of effectiveness, this learning medium has been proven to improve students' early reading skills, as demonstrated by the increase in the number of students in the very advanced category from 6 to 13, and an average N-Gain score of 0.38, which falls within the moderate category. Thus, Montessori reading books containing Bima local wisdom are deemed suitable for use as innovative learning media that not only improve students' early reading skills but also strengthen local culture-based literacy in elementary schools.

Abstract

This quasi-experimental study aims to determine the effect of the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) model assisted by syllable card media on the early reading literacy ability of second-grade students at SDN Tangga. The research design used was one group pretest-posttest design involving 11 students as samples selected by saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through pretest and posttest of early reading literacy instruments consisting of 25 items covering letter recognition, syllable reading, simple word reading, simple sentence reading, and basic reading comprehension. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics and paired sample t-test. The results showed that there was a significant effect of the TaRL model assisted by syllable card media on students' early reading literacy ability with t-count = 9,45 and significance value p = 0,000 < 0,05. The N-gain score obtained was 0,42 in the medium category. These findings indicate that the TaRL model assisted by syllable cards can effectively improve early reading literacy skills in elementary school students through learning that is tailored to the actual ability level of students and supported by concrete media.
