Abstract

The values of the Hindu religion have always been the main basis for its followers in carrying out all their activities. Likewise, in religious and spiritual tourism activities which are termed tīrtha yātrā and have been carried out for a long time and still exist today, of course their actualization is based on these values. This foundation needs to be clearly understood so that it can be maintained or further developed in the tourism sector. Through a study that applies the systematic literature review method, it seeks to clearly describe the understanding of religious and spiritual tourism from a Hindu values perspective. The results of the study show that religious and spiritual tourism naturally has and actualizes principles based on Hindu values. In general, the principles of religious and spiritual tourism reflect the teachings of Tri Hita Kāraṇa, Tri Pramāna, and the Three Frameworks of Hinduism. The relevance of Hindu values can also be applied in the management of religious and spiritual tourism by adopting the principle of "atithi devo bhavaḥ" in the form of services based on jñana mārga, karma mārga, and bhakti mārga.

Abstract

The views of several Hindu texts regarding the position of women are contradictory to the perspective of society, sometimes leading to criticism and unfavorable views on Hindu teachings. In fact, the status of women in the Vedic era was very special and noble but slowly degraded during the post-Vedic era and so on. This paper seeks to examine Vedic texts to provide an understanding of the position of women in the Vedic era in line with the demands of women's emancipation in modern times. The results showed that women, especially wives or mothers, were considered a symbol of the sanctity of the family and were highly respected because of their extraordinary role in continuing the family lineage, educating their children, practicing religion, and contributing to the development of the family and society. Kind, loyal, and well-educated personalities are the conditions laid down in the Vedic texts to actualize these roles. In terms of religious practice, women are positioned as central to the success of yajña.

Abstract

The Saṁskṛta-Bālakendram program, organized in West Lombok by the Dvīpāntara Saṁskṛtam Foundation, aims to introduce Sanskrit to children whose mastery of this language will be able to optimize in learning Hindu religious and cultural teachings. The Saṁskṛta-Bālakendram program is experiencing significant challenges, namely the inconsistency of students in attending classes. This challenge is a crucial problem so this research is carried out to analyze the factors that cause inconsistencies in student attendance and their impact on learning effectiveness. This study applies a qualitative method supported by a phenomenological approach with data collection techniques, namely non-participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the inconsistency of student attendance was more caused by external factors that were beyond the control of this learning program which included a lack of social motivation, the existence of other activity priorities, and also sick conditions that did not allow them to participate in learning. The impact of inconsistency in student attendance on learning effectiveness includes a decrease in enthusiasm for learning in some students who are rarely present, the way teachers organize learning materials that often repeat the subject matter to ensure that students who are rarely present can still catch up, as well as the low level of knowledge and skills of students who are rarely present in terms of speaking, reading, and writing.
