Abstract

Vocabulary is a part of the language. It is important for the students to learn vocabulary. Learning vocabulary through video is one of many strategies that teacher can use in teaching vocabulary to the students. The aim of this study is to find out students’ difficulties in learning vocabulary through video clips, in order to find students’ difficulties in learning vocabulary through video clips, the researcher will use case study as design with qualitative approach. The subjects of this study are the first-grade students in SMK Kesehatan Samarinda. The researcher will use two kind of supporting instrument to collect the data; interview and observation. The output of this study is expected to give useful contribution to existing theories of vocabulary. Besides, practically, this study will provide more insight about problems in learning vocabulary as well as students’ effort toward the problems to English teachers so that they are able to design appropriate strategy for better leaning vocabulary. For students, this study will help them in figuring out their weaknesses so that they can improve their vocabulary effectively. For future researcher, this study is hoped to become a reference for those who investigate similar topic. Finally, this study is planned and expected to be published on Scopus journal.

Abstract

The success of teachers in conducting online learning in the Covid-19 pandemic condition is the ability of teachers to innovate in designing, concocting materials, media, learning methods, and suitable applications to the materials and methods. Moreover, teacher and students currently faced some challenges or difficulties in online learning. The challenges of online learning are difficulties faced by teacher and students which is all the factors involve in the challenges, such as the students or the teacher self and the technological that use in online learning. The purpose of this study is to find out the challenges of online learning during Pandemic Covid 19 in SMKN 5 Samarinda. This study used qualitative method. The result showed that almost all of the challenges that teachers faced in online learning (E- learning) are the unstable connection, the ability operation of the mechanism program, and the students' low interest or low motivation with online classes. However, the second major was communication barriers faced by teachers and students as the impact of unstable connection.

Abstract

The one of language switching effects is the use of code switching and code mixing in the classroom. English become one of compulsory subjects at all of school in Indonesia, so the teacher and students sometimes speak Indonesian during learning process. The use of code switching and code mixing in the classroom often used by teacher in Indonesia. This research was conducted at eleventh grade social-4 in SMA Negeri 5 Samarinda. Data collection in this research the researcher used qualitative research and for selection the students are using snowball sampling, and that is including in non-probability sampling. The results of this research are student perception was had a good perception about teacher used code mixing and code switching in learning process. Liked S1 said “Yes I agree if used during teaching learning process” another S3 said I Strongly agree because can help me to understanding English. Most of students agree with that because made them easier for study to understanding the material what teacher explained.

Abstract

Tujuan dari pengabdian masyarakat tentang Penyuluhan tentang peningkatan English Listening Comprehension melalui game multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) di SMP Budi Bakti Samarinda adalah untuk menyelesaikan permasalah yang dihadapai oleh siswa saat belajar Listening dalam Bahasa Inggris Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilakukan melalui dua tahapan yaitu, persiapan dan pelaksanaan program inti melalui penyuluhan dan diskusi serta FGD. Dalam metode ini peserta penyuluhan didampingi oleh pemateri. Pemateri menjelaskan semua bagian-bagian materi pada peserta penyuluhan. Setelah semua peserta diberi materi oleh masing-masing pemateri yang telah dibagi. Kemudian dilakukan pemutaran edukasi tentang Peningkatan English Listening Comprehension Melalui Game Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA). Hasil daru kegiatan penyuluhan dan praktek dapat berjalan dengan baik. Tingkat pemahaman para peserta rata-rata naik 80% dalam memahami materi penyuluhan. Hal ini dapat diliat dari hasil evaluasi dan keaktifan peserta dalam kegiatan penyuluhan.

Abstract

Fenomena code-mixing telah lama menarik minat para sarjana yang meneliti apa yang memicu terjadinya peristiwa tersebut. Code-mixing sering terjadi dalam suatu proses komunikasi. Beberapa orang menggunakan bahasa Inggris untuk menggantikan atau mencampur kode-kode bahasa dalam suatu proses komunikasi. Perlu untuk mendapatkan lebih banyak informasi menurut orang yang akrab dengan bahasa Inggris saat berbicara. Fenomena code-mixing ini akan terjadi jika lingkungan mendukung penggunaan bilingualisme. Solusi yang bisa ditawarkan untuk permasalahan English Speaking Skill dan Self-Confidence di SMN 02 Long Ikis adalah melakukan sosialisasi dan edukasi tentang bagaimana meningkatan kemampuan speaking menggunakan Code Mixing. Tujuan dari pengabdian masyarakat tentang sosialisasi dan edukasi tentang bagaiman meningkatan Self-Confidence untuk Students’ Speaking Ability melalui Code Mixing di SMN 02 Long Ikis adalah untuk menyelesaikan permasalah yang dihadapai oleh siswa saat belajar Speaking dalam Bahasa Inggris

Abstract

Dampak virus corona (Covid 19 ) yang melanda dunia, termasuk di Indonesia, masih terasa. Covid 19 menjadikan dunia pendidikan mengalami keterlambatan proses untuk kemajuan. Pandemi Covid-19 merupakan musibah besar bagi penduduk bumi. Seluruh elemen kehidupan manusia di bumi terganggu, tanpa kecuali pendidikan. Banyak negara menutup sekolah, dari pendidikan dasar hingga perguruan tinggi, termasuk Indonesia. Abstract

Reading is very important for English learners because reading can enlarge their knowledge, vocabulary, and information. From reading, English learners also can learn about foreign language people's habits and cultures. Students should know why before teaching reading, a lecture should inform students about their purpose first. Abstract

Strategic Planning in education, especially in higher education, is a critical component in maintaining the quality and relevance of education. FKIP Lecturer (Faculty of Teaching and Education) of Widya Gama Mahakam Samarinda University has an essential role in planning Strategic platform development and innovation. This article aims to discuss planning strategies that can be carried out by FKIP UWGM lecturers in developing platform-learning innovation at the University. Strategic planning and innovation approaches are used to understand the steps that FKIP lecturers can take to achieve these goals. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive approach. The results of this study indicate that FKIP lecturers need strategic planning in developing an e-learning platform, including needs analysis, instructional design, technology used, and learning evaluation. Strategic planning by FKIP lecturers in developing innovative e-learning platforms is essential to improve the quality of learning. Through proper planning, lecturers can provide learning experiences that meet student needs, integrate appropriate technology, and conduct effective evaluations.
