Abstract

Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) is reshaping education, including Islamic contexts, while raising ethical, digital, and infrastructural concerns. This study explores how ethical and contextual integration of GenAI can drive inclusive and sustainable Islamic education reform. Through a systematic review of 85 high-impact articles, a three-layered framework is developed: technological infrastructure, human capability, and ethical governance. Key findings highlight the urgency of early AI literacy, adaptive teacher training, and fair, outcome-based evaluation. The proposed “GenAI-Integrated Islamic Learning Ecosystem” model maps the adoption from awareness to autonomy. This study bridges Islamic ethics, sociotechnical approaches, and human capital policy to offer strategic insights for ethical and empowering AI governance.

Abstract

SWOT analysis has long been used in organizational strategy formulation, but this approach is considered inadequate because it focuses only on surface symptoms and ignores hidden factors such as culture, assumptions, and mindsets that influence the formation of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. This study aims to: (1) critique the limitations of traditional SWOT as a strategic analysis tool; (2) integrate the Iceberg Model to reveal the deepest structures that influence SWOT variables; and (3) formulate a conceptual SWOT–Iceberg model as a sustainable strategic solution for modern organizations. The method used is a qualitative-conceptual approach with a systematic literature review, covering Scopus/WoS articles from 2015–2025 related to SWOT, systems thinking, mental models, and organizational strategy. The data were analyzed through thematic coding and conceptual synthesis and validated using expert judgment from strategic management experts. The results show that 80% of the determinants of organizational strategy are at the bottom of the iceberg—namely, policy systems, power structures, values, and collective assumptions—which have not been accommodated in SWOT. Therefore, the SWOT–Iceberg Framework model was developed, which repositions SWOT into four layers of analysis: events, patterns, systemic structures, and mental models. In conclusion, the SWOT–Iceberg model offers a paradigm shift from descriptive SWOT to a reflective-strategic tool that can uncover the root causes of problems and produce more adaptive and sustainable strategies. Further research is recommended to empirically test this model in educational institutions, digital businesses, or public institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to recontextualize the classical sociological theories of Karl Marx, Max Weber, and Émile Durkheim within the framework of dakwah (Islamic propagation) to address the theoretical limitations often dominated by normative-theological approaches. The research focuses on three main questions: (1) the relevance of classical theories when applied to contemporary dakwah phenomena; (2) the reasons behind the epistemological gap in dakwah studies caused by the lack of critical analysis; and (3) the construction of a new conceptual framework through the synthesis of classical theory and dakwah praxis for advancing the religious social sciences. Using a conceptual research design and critical analytical approach, this study draws from primary sources such as the original works of Marx, Weber, and Durkheim, and secondary sources consisting of Scopus- and WoS-indexed journal articles from 2015–2024 discussing dakwah, Islamic communication, and classical sociology. The methodology integrates critical interpretation, comparative analysis, and framework synthesis to produce a comprehensive model. The findings demonstrate that Marx’s theory contextualizes dakwah as a domain of ideological struggle and class relations; Weber’s perspective elucidates authority, rationalization, and bureaucratization within dakwah institutions; and Durkheim’s approach highlights the role of dakwah in maintaining social solidarity and collective morality. The study concludes that the integration of these classical perspectives formulates Critical-Integrative Dakwah Studies, a new paradigm that views dakwah as both a religious and transformative social praxis. This epistemological synthesis expands the horizon of religious social sciences and promotes dialogue between Western and Islamic intellectual traditions.
