Abstract

Background: Compong Village is a village located in Pitu Riase Subdistrict, Sidenreng Rappang Regency, South Sulawesi. It is situated in a mountainous and hilly region with a significant amount of marginal land. This community service program aims to empower the residents of Compong Village through the introduction of permaculture on marginal land, specifically home gardens, targeting 28 members of the Melati Women Farmers Group (KWT) in Compong Village. The village has a high prevalence of stunting despite its substantial natural resource potential. Method: The implementation method involved intensive outreach and mentoring over three months (August-December 2024), consisting of several stages: situational and partner condition analysis, socialization, activity implementation, monitoring, evaluation, impact assessment, and expansion. Result: The Women Farmers Group successfully transformed barren and dry land into productive areas that not only met daily nutritional needs with nutritious food but also contributed to the family economy. Based on pre-test and post-test results from two key training and mentoring activities—focused on nutrition and stunting knowledge as well as organic permaculture outreach—the average knowledge of KWT members increased by more than 80%. Furthermore, they began generating sustainable income from permaculture food products cultivated through the program. Conclusion: It is hoped that in the future the permaculture garden (ProSegi) managed by the management of KWT Melati Dusun III can continue to be sustainable and empower the local community both socially, economically and in the community

Abstract

ABSTRACT The survey results conducted by the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) of the Republic of Indonesia show that around 80% of school children consume snacks in the school environment, either from vendors or in the school canteen, with 60.3% of students choosing not-so-good food, while 57.5% have a negative attitude towards snack foods. Although consuming unhealthy food has adverse effects on health, adolescents often continue these habits due to lifestyle influences and globalization. As much as 70% of students or 7 out of 10 students at SMPN 5 Panca Rijang choose their food by considering peer influence, family habits, and food accessibility based on initial observation results. This study aims to determine the relationship between peers, family, food accessibility, media influence, and socioeconomic status on snack selection behavior at SMPN 5 Panca Rijang. The research method uses a quantitative approach with a total sampling technique and data collection through questionnaires or interviews with univariate and bivariate (chi-square) data analysis. The results of the study show a relationship between peer influence and student snack selection behavior with a p-value of 0.010 <0.05, which is smaller than the established significance level, while the other 3 factors, namely family (p-value 0.446), food accessibility (p-value 0.659), and media influence (p-value 0.161), with a p-value >0.05 indicate no relationship as the p-value is greater than the established significance level.

Abstract

Providing Supplementary Food (PMT) is one way to meet the nutritional needs of toddlers. This program requires collaborative action from all parties, but there are still problems in the input, processing and output processes so that the distribution process is not yet good. This research aims to find out how the input, process and output are carried out well. This research uses quantitative methods with a cross sectional approach, using cluster random sampling. The data collection techniques used in this research are observation, interviews, population and questionnaires. As well as data analysis techniques in this research using validity tests, reliability tests, and chi-square tests. The results of this research show that financing with a p value of 0.018 (p < 0.005) and implementation of the PMT program with a p value of 0.007 (p < 0.005) show a significant relationship to the nutritional status of toddlers in Rappang Village and Human Resources (SDM) with a value of p amounting to 0.104 (p > 0.005) which shows there is no significant relationship with the nutritional status of children under five in Rappang Village.
