Abstract

Art is often viewed as a worldly thing connected with worldly luxuries and pleasures. In response to the use of this art, it is no wonder that among mainstream theologians there is a dichotomy between the spiritual and the earthly or the holy and the secular. The effect is that many Christians close themselves to the things they regard as 'worldly' in the social life of society, and they live alone isolated in their holiness. This study discusses that art is God's creation, so the presence of art should be able to help humanity establish its existence as a creature and be able to help human beings become closer to God.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project [P5] through Javanese local wisdom-based cultural arts education at SD Negeri Ngaliyan 05 Semarang as a pedagogical strategy for strengthening character, cultural identity, and the internalization of Pancasila values in primary education. The study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive case study design conducted at an elementary school implementing the Merdeka Curriculum in Semarang City, which is oriented toward strengthening regional and national cultural values. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies, and were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana. The findings indicate that the implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) through arts and cultural education grounded in Javanese local wisdom at SD Negeri Ngaliyan 05 is effective when it is designed contextually, integratively, and reflectively. This effectiveness is reflected in thematic planning based on local culture, participatory project-based learning practices, and authentic assessment that emphasizes both the learning process and students’ character development. The study also identifies several challenges, including limited teacher pedagogical capacity, insufficient cultural arts resources, the tendency toward cultural symbolization, and gaps between national policy design and local implementation realities. As a case study, this research emphasizes that reorienting P5 from an administrative-ceremonial approach toward substantive cultural pedagogy is a crucial prerequisite for transforming character education in elementary schools. This study contributes to strengthening local wisdom-based cultural arts education as a contextual, reflective, and transformative pedagogical strategy for implementing P5 in primary education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the character formation of elementary school students through the implementation of Christian values, with a particular focus on Christian school culture as the primary pedagogical medium. Employing a qualitative approach with a descriptive case study design, the research was conducted at SD Daniel Creative School Semarang. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, students, and parents, and were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana. The findings reveal that character formation becomes more effective when Christian values such as love, discipline, integrity, responsibility, and service are internalized through the school’s vision, institutional culture, hidden curriculum, learning practices, teacher exemplarity, and family involvement. Christian school culture functions as a transformative space in which Christian values are embodied as students’ lived practices. This study concludes that the effectiveness of character education in Christian elementary schools depends on the consistent, contextual, and holistic integration of Christian values into school culture.
