Abstract

Gigi susu mudah terserang karies karena struktur giginya lebih tipis dan lebih kecil dibandingkan gigi permanen. Apabila gigi geraham susu tanggal sebelum waktunya akibat karies, kemungkinan pertumbuhan gigi permanen akan berjejal karena geraham berfungsi menahan ruangan bagian gigi tetap yang tumbuh. Maka perlu dilakukan langkah-langkah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan orang tua yang akan melakukan pendampingan dan bimbingan pada anak usia dini dalam melakukan pemeliharaan kesehatan gigi dan mulut. Metode pelaksanaan program kemitraan kepada masyarakat melalui berbagai tahap, yaitu tahap persiapan koordinasi, pelaksanaan dan evaluasi. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan di 2 sekolah, yaitu KB TK Islam Ar-Rahman Islamic School dan TK Islam AL Khautsar. Waktu pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat program kemitraan dilaksanakan pada bulan Maret sampai dengan bulan September 2022, dengan sasaran berjumlah 130 orang. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu media edukasi dan kuesioner. Hasil pelaksanaan kegiatan ini terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan orang tua dalam pendampingan menyikat gigi dan mencuci tangan sehingga dapat meningkatkan keterampilan anak dalam menyikat gigi dan mencuci tangan.

Abstract

Edukasi sangat penting diberikan kepada anak usia prasekolah, karena pada usia tersebut anak-anak belum mempunyai pengetahuan yang cukup untuk memelihara kesehatan giginya. Makanan yang manis adalah makanan yang sangat disukai oleh anak prasekolah karena makanan tersebut enak saat dimakan. Tanpa mereka ketahui makanan tersebut dapat menyebabkank karies gigi. Kegiatan bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan tentang makanan kariogenik yang dapat merusak gigi, meningkatkan pengetahuan tentang karies dan cara mencegahnya, meningkatkan keterampilan menyikatgigi yang benar dan diketahui status karies gigi pada siswa. Pengabdian dilakukan di sekolah TK/PAUD Tunas Ceria dan Sanggar Fortune yang berada di wilayah Kelurahan Pasar Minggu. Metode pelaksanaan program kemitraan kepada masyarakat  melalui berbagai tahap, yaitu tahap persiapan dengan melakukan koordinasi dan advokasi dengan berbagai pihak dan mitra juga untuk pengambilan data awal. Tahap pelaksanaan dengan memberikan pre test pengetahuan tentang makanan kariogenik, penyuluhan Kesehatan gigi, post test setelah penyululuhan, menyikat gigi bersama dan pemeriksaan gigi geligi. Tahap evaluasi dengan melakukan evaluasi terhadap hasil pretest dan post test setelah penyuluhan. Tahap evalusi untuk melihat apakah gigi yang berlubang sudah ditambal. Hasilnya adalah terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan responden tentang makanan kariogenik, karies gigi, sikat gigi yang baik dan meningkatnya keterampilan tentang cara menyikatgigi dengan benar. Terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan tentang makanan kariogenik, karies gigi juga keterampilan menyikat gigi. Dengan demikian edukasi sangat penting untuk merubah pengetahuan dan keterampilan siswa, sehingga diharapkan hal tersebut akan menetap sampai mereka dewasa. Lebih banyak siswa yang menderita karies dibandingkan yang bebas karies dikarenakan siswa belum mengetahui cara menyikat gigi yang benar.

Abstract

Preschool students are the most vulnerable group to dental caries. The cariogenic food consumption habits and oral cavity maintenance that children do at an early age can affect their dental health. PAUD Sanggar Fortune is located in the puskesmas area of Pasaar Sunday sub-district. The location of the PAUD is in the middle of a dense residential area in the Ragunan sub-district of Pasar Minggu sub-district, where health workers' access to the school can only be done by passing two-wheeled vehicles or walking between residents' houses. This difficulty is an obstacle for health workers in carrying interactive counseling logistics to school students. Therefore, the community service team intends to conduct visual education activities to avoid Si KAGI (dental caries and cariogenic food) for PAUD Sanggar Fortune students. The purpose of the activity is to improve the ability of PAUD Sanggar Fortune children to recognize signs of dental caries and cariogenic foods. The method of implementation of the activity was carried out by screening dental caries, counseling with Si KAGI media, distribution of tooth brushing equipment and non-cariogenic foods, and tooth brushing guidance together. The targets of the activity amounted to 38 children. The results of the activity showed that 66% of children had dental caries; children were able to recognize signs of caries; the ability of the majority of children to recognize a good toothbrush increased from 97% to 100%; and the ability of the majority of children to choose healthy or non-cariogenic foods increased from 66% to 92%. In conclusion, the activity succeeded in improving children's ability to recognize signs of dental caries and cariogenic foods. The future follow-up plan is that activities can be carried out routinely, sustainably, and involve targets from other locations so that the benefits of activities will be felt by more groups of preschool children in maintaining oral health.

Abstract

Background Dental and oral therapists are required to carry out dental and oral health care services. The results of the researcher's observations showed that there were still obstacles in the health service to implement a good care process. Problems include not understanding or forgetting how to write a diagnosis statement according to the concept of dental hygienist darby & walsh, not having a dental hygienist darby & walsh textbook as a guideline, and it is impractical to use the textbook because of the thick pages of the book and in a foreign language. Therefore, a more effective and efficient tool is needed as a reference / guideline by students and TGM at the health center, one of which is in the form of a web application prototype. in this study the researcher intends to develop a dental and oral health care application which is the main task of dental and oral therapists. The initial focus of the case is for pediatric patient services at the health center. The purpose of this study is to determine the prototype form of a web-based oral health care application as a guideline for pediatric patient services at the health center. This type of research method is research and development (R & D). Initial research was carried out with descriptive qualitative. The stages of the activity are preparing the material database, making web-based applications with the help of the IT team, then reviewing the material by experts. The results of the research Prototype of oral health care applications can be accessed online based on a website both through laptops, PC, tablets and handphone. The application contains patient data menu features, assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation, and documentation (printing). Expert review shows the majority of answers strongly agree and agree to 9 indicators of material suitability Conclusion A prototype of oral health care application for pediatric cases at the health center has been created under the name SIDALUT (oral health care documentation system).

Abstract

Background: Based on the Basic Health Research in 2018, in Banten province, the population who have dental problems in the form of damaged teeth, cavities or pain in the 3 - 4 year old group with a percentage of 36.4% and the 3 - 4 year old group who do tooth brushing care with the correct time is only 1.1%. Therefore, it is necessary to provide dental health education to children using methods and learning media that are tailored to child development. One of the methods used is by monitoring toothbrushing using toothbrush time table media.  Objective: analyzing toothbrush time table media as an effort to increase the independence of brushing teeth in preschool children Methods: This study used a quasi experiment with pretest and post test design, conducted on 77 students as respondents obtained using the total sampling technique. The type of data used is primary data, which is data obtained directly by measuring the level of children's tooth brushing independence. The instrument used was a tooth brushing independence checklist sheet. Results: The results of the study before and after using the toothbrush time table media on 77 respondents, with the category needing guidance as many as 64 students (83.1%), became excellent toothbrushing independence as many as 60 students (77.9%), and the mean of toothbrushing independence with the results of 47.9, namely the category needing guidance changed to 87.9 with an excellent category, with independence p-value of 0.001 (p <0.05). Conclusion: The tooth brushing time table media can increase the independence of tooth brushing in preschool children

Abstract

Background: Oral and dental health is an important component of Health. Dental caries is common especially in children caused by sweet foods, such as chocolate, candy, and cakes, easily sticking to the teeth. To maintain the health of the teeth and mouth by providing counseling in the form of educational games (APE) such as busy board which provides a variety of activities arranged in one board, aims to keep children engaged and busy in the learning process. Objective: To describe the analysis of busy board media as an effort to increase knowledge of early childhood. Method : is descriptive with a total of 50 respondents using a total sampling. Type of data used is primary data obtained directly by observation using evaluation media busy board pre-test and post-test. The instrument used is busy board and check sheet. Results: The results of the study before the counseling with the evaluation of the busy board is good category as many as 41 ( 82%) respondents, knowledge with sufficient category as many as 8 (16%) respondents, and less knowledge as many as 1 (2%) respondents. After the extension of good category 50 (100%) there is no sufficient category and less (0%). Conclusion: There was an increase in knowledge after being given counseling on food to prevent caries and evaluation with a busy board by 18% and none of the respondents had less knowledge category

Abstract

Background: In general, learning while playing is popular among children, especially kindergarten students, besides being interesting, children do not get bored easily. To improve knowledge and motivation to learn, one of them is by playing the ROMPI Si Gigi media game. The material in this media is shaped like a spinning wheel and is equipped with pictures of the steps for brushing teeth. Objective: To analyze knowledge and skills before and after being given education on how to brush teeth through the ROMPI Si Gigi game media in preschool children. Method: This research employs a quasi-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. It was conducted at TK Bakti Mulya 400 South Jakarta, using a purposive sampling technique of 36 respondents. The independent variable is the ROMPI Si Gigi game media and the dependent variable is the knowledge and skills of brushing teeth. The instruments are in the form of questionnaire sheets (pretest and posttest), checklist sheets for brushing teeth skills. Results: This study shows that the results of respondents' knowledge before the ROMPI Si Gigi media game education were mostly in the sufficient criteria of 18 students (50.0%) and after being given education, most were in the good criteria of 21 students (58.4%). Respondents' skills before the ROMPI Si Gigi media game education were mostly in the sufficient criteria of 14 students (38.9%) and after education, most were in the very good criteria of 36 students (100%). Conclusion: There was an increase in knowledge and skills in brushing teeth after being given ROMPI Si Gigi media game education.

Abstract

Halitosis in children is a common problem that can affect their social and psychological well-being. While many interventions exist, there is a growing demand for natural and effective solutions. This study aimed to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of MAGIfresh, a novel herbal mouthwash containing Manalagi apple peel (Malus sylvestris Mill.) extract, in reducing halitosis in children. A quasi-experimental study with a one-group pretest-posttest design was conducted on 63 elementary school students. Halitosis levels were measured using a 0-5 organoleptic scale before and 30 minutes after rinsing with the mouthwash. The collected data were analyzed using the non-parametric Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. The results showed a statistically significant reduction in halitosis scores after the intervention (p < 0.001). The mean organoleptic score decreased from 0.74 in the pretest to 0.07 in the posttest. The findings concluded that MAGIfresh mouthwash was highly effective in reducing halitosis in children.
