Abstract

Indonesian Muslims need a well-established Islamic education that can accommodate diversity as the characteristic of Indonesia. Nurcholish Madjid (1939-2005), a neo-Modernist, has an inclusive and philosophical Islamic thought that can be used as the philosophical paradigm of Indonesian Islamic education. This study intends to interpret the thinking of Nurcholish Madjid related to Islamic education using Hans Georg Gadamer’s hermeneutic model. This study shows that knowledge is a manifestation of ‘aql, one of human potential as khalīfah. Cak Nur’s objective of Islamic education is divided into four categories that led to the awareness of human existence as God’s servant and khalīfah. The model of Cak Nur’s education is humanistic education which focuses on moral education. The multicultural education of Cak Nur, which comes from the generic meaning of Islam, is tolerance education to the diversity of religions, religious understanding, and the acceptance of local wisdom. Cak Nur's educational thinking is not a practical theory, but a philosophical foundation that is easily accepted by people with the epistemology of burhānī thought.

Abstract

Learning the history of Islamic culture can train students to think chronologically and foster nationalism in planning the future based on past experiences. This research aims to test the effectiveness of the discovery learning model in improving the quality of Islamic Cultural History (SKI) learning and determine learning models that can produce quality SKI learning. The research uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method, involving an experimental class that applies the discovery learning model and a control class that uses the conventional lecture method. Data sources were taken from the pretest and post-test in both classes. The research was conducted at Madrasah Aliyah Ibadul Ghofur with a sample of class 10 MIA 1 students as the experimental class and class 10 MIA 2 as the control class. The research showed that the discovery learning model effectively improved the quality of SKI learning, with the average post-test score for the experimental class (86.91) being higher than the control class (72.50). The N-gain score measurement shows that the experimental class is in the practical category (70.49), while the control class is ineffective category (35.10). This research concludes that the discovery learning model has also been proven to increase student activity and motivation in learning compared to conventional methods. In conclusion, there is a significant difference in the quality of SKI learning between the control and experimental classes, where the discovery learning method is more effective in improving the quality of learning.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the challenges of educators in the 21st century who demand to transform the teaching and learning process using technological tools as part of the competencies and characteristics of 21st-century students. One way of transforming the teaching and learning process can be done by changing learning methods that utilize technological tools as part of the learning process and can increase students' learning motivation in their learning activities. Therefore, researchers chose the flipped learning method in order to see its influence on students' learning motivation in PAI subjects. This research aims to describe the data on the differences between students' learning motivation before and after using the flipped learning method, especially in PAI subjects in Class VI SDN 5 Rancah, Rancah District, Ciamis Regency, and to determine the effect of the flipped learning method on students' learning motivation in PAI subjects. in class VI at SDN 5 Rancah, Rancah Ciamis District. Apart from that, researchers also want to know. This research uses a quantitative experimental method using a questionnaire instrument or learning motivation questionnaire and pre-test and post-test instruments, both of which are aimed at class VI students at SDN 5 Rancah, Rancah District, Ciamis Regency. Apart from that, direct observation was also carried out at the research location. The results of this research show that before using the flipped learning method in the teaching and learning process in PAI subjects, the student's learning motivation scores showed an average pretest score of 64.8125. Then, after using the flipped learning method in the teaching and learning process in PAI subjects, the student's learning motivation scores showed an average post-test score of 73.3125. Based on the results of these two conditions, the researcher concluded that there was a significant influence, as proven by the hypothesis test data, that the flipped learning method variable (X) contributed or could explain the learning motivation variable (Y) by 32.8% while the remaining 67.2 % explained by other variables outside the model.

Abstract

The rapid development of information technology has accelerated the emergence of Islamic Education Technology (Islamic EdTech) as an innovation in Islamic education that provides wider access, improved effectiveness, and interactive learning experiences. However, its application faces ideological challenges, particularly the potential for hidden secularization through the separation of religious and general sciences, the adoption of Western pedagogical standards, and the dominance of digital algorithms. This study aims to analyze the potential secularization within Islamic EdTech in Indonesia by employing a qualitative descriptive method based on document analysis and in-depth interviews with teachers, platform developers, and academics. Data were thematically analyzed using NVivo software, supported by source and method triangulation to ensure validity. The findings indicate that although Islamic EdTech successfully enhances learning access and motivation among younger generations, there is a tendency toward reducing Islamic teachings to cognitive aspects, neutralizing religious terminology, and shaping business-oriented platforms that treat Islamic values as mere symbolic labels. Therefore, content curation involving scholars, collaboration with Islamic educational institutions, and the establishment of Sharia-based ethical guidelines for technology use, including artificial intelligence, are essential. With these strategic measures, Islamic EdTech has the potential not only to modernize Islamic learning but also to function as a medium of Islamization of knowledge while strengthening Islamic identity amid the challenges of educational globalization. Keywords: Islamic Ed-tech, Islamic Education, Secularization
