Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the dose of bromelain enzyme on the linear body size of first generation IPB-D1 chickens. The livestock used were 80 first generation IPB-D1 chickens aged 4 weeks. This research method used a Completely Randomized Design consisting of 4 treatments and 5 replications. Each replication consisted of 4 chickens. The treatment given was E0 = Drinking water without enzyme (control), E1=4 ml of bromelain enzyme/liter of water, E2= 8 ml of bromelain enzyme/liter of water and E3=12 ml of bromelain enzyme/liter of water. The research variables included back length, chest circumference, wing span and shank length. The results of the study showed that the use of the bromelain enzyme had no significant effect (P>0.05) on back length, chest circumference, wing span and shank length at 4 weeks of age. 8 and 12 weeks. It was concluded that the use of the bromelain enzyme in drinking water up to a dose of 12 ml had the same effect on the linear body size of first generation IPB-D1 chickens.

Abstract

he purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of giving tempeh bran, bran tape and their combination on the economic value of broiler chickens finisher phase. This study used 96 broiler chickens strain CP 707 aged 21 days. This research method uses a Complete Randomized Design (RAL) with 4 treatments and 6 repeats where each test consists of 4 broiler chickens. The experimental treatment was R0: basal ration + 20% rice bran (control), R1: basal ration + 20% tempeh bran, R2: basal ration + 20% bran tape, and R3: basal ration + combination of 10% tempeh bran + 10% bran tape. Data analysis is economic analysis which includes; production costs, receipts, profits, IOFC and BEP. The results of the analysis show that the treatment has a significant effect (P<0.05) on revenue, income and IOFC but has no significant effect (P>0.05) on production costs. It was concluded that the combination of 10% tempeh bran and 10% bran tape (R3) in the ration provided the best revenue, income and IOFC but had the same effect on the production costs of finisher phase broiler chickens.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine the effect of giving tempe bran tape bran and its combination on the performance of broiler chickens in the finisher period. This research used 96 CP 707 strain broiler chickens aged 21 days. This research method used a Completely Randomized Design with 4 treatments and 6 replications and each replication consisted of 4 broiler chickens. The treatments tried were R0: basal ration + 20 % rice bran (control), R1: basal ration + 20 % tempe bran, R2: basal ration + 20 % tape bran , R3: basal ration + combination of 10 % tempe bran and 10 % tape bran. The variables measured were feed consumption, body weight gain, feed. The results of the study showed that giving tempeh bran, tape bran and their combination had a significant effect (P<0.05) on body weight gain, feed consumption and feed conversion of broiler chickens in the finisher period. It was concluded that the best performance was obtained by broiler chickens that received a combination treatment of 10% tempe bran and 10% tape bran in the ration (R3) in terms of consumption, body weight gain and ration conversion finisher phase broiler chickens.

Abstract

Purpose: The aim of this community service program is to increase entrepreneurship knowledge and skills in making a variety of food products from duck eggs and duck meat from ducks that are no longer productive. Method: The activity method is providing training about entrepreneurship, and demonstrations of processing ducks into various ready-to-eat food products. Participant consisted of 15 duck farmers from Oesapa Kupang city. Practical Application: Processing cull or rejected duck meat provides the right solution for farmers to overcome the problem of handling ducks that are not productive and can also improve family income and increase consumption of animal protein for the community. Conclusion: Small scale duck farmers were able to increase their knowledge about entrepreneurship and improve skills in making a variety of nutritious food made from duck eggs and duck meat.

Abstract

The study aimed to analyze the effects of different feed commercials, the level of acidifier, and their interaction on carcass weight, pH of breast meat, protein, fat, and cholesterol content of broiler chickens. A total of 160 broiler chickens (21 day old, mixed of male and female) were randomly allocated to 8 groups with 4 replicates per group, and 5 chickens per replicate. Research methods using a Completely Randomized Design with a 2x4 factorial pattern involving 2 types of commercial diets (Diet A and Diet B), and 3 levels (L) of acidifier (0%, 0,5%, 1%, and 1,5%). The carcass and protein, fat, and cholesterol of breast meat were analyzed on day 35. The results showed, with the increase of acidifier level, the fat and cholesterol content significantly decreased (P<0.05), reaching the lowest value in the levels of acidifier of 1 and 1,5%. Carcass weight and protein content of breast meat were not affected by diets and the level of acidifier. Diets and the interaction between diets and the level of acidifier had no significant effect on all of the parameters measured. In conclusion, the low fat, and low cholesterol content can be obtained when the acidifier level is between 1 and 1,5% regardless of the type of commercial diets.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyse the effects of different sources of fibre-rich ingredients (FRI) at different levels on the growth performance, blood parameters, and carcass yields of broiler chickens. A total of 135 broiler chickens (21-day-old, mixed male and female) were allocated to 9 treatments consisting of 3 replicates with 5 chickens per replicate. The research methods used a completely randomized design with a 3x3 factorial pattern involving 3 types of FRI (rice bran (RB), wheat bran (WB), and corn bran (CB)) and 3 levels (L) of FRI (10%, 20%, 30%). Body weight gain (BWG), feed intake (FI), and FCR data were collected for the finisher (d 21?35) phase. The carcass and serum samples were analysed on day 35. There were no significant 2-way interactions for growth, carcass, or blood parameters. There was no difference in the growth performance of broilers fed RB, WB, or CB. The levels of FRI individually affect growth, carcass, and blood parameters. Compared with birds receiving 10% and 20% FRI, those receiving 30% FRI presented lower FI, BWG, and carcass yields. The highest measurement of total cholesterol (TC) occurred in broilers fed RB, and the lowest values of TC were obtained in those fed WB and CB. No differences were detected in triglycerides (P>0.05), but total serum HDL was significantly (P<0.05) greater in chickens fed WB and CB than in those fed RB. In conclusion, RB, WB, or CB can be used as a source of FRI for better growth performance, carcass, and blood parameters at moderate inclusion levels (10–20%) in broiler diets.
