Abstract

The rapid growth of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) technology, or drone, has shown its popularity and has been significantly applied to various purposes today. Nevertheless, with all the sophistication of drones, many related topics are still attractive, especially when a drone is designed to carry out a cargo mission. Thus, in this research, the dynamic model of a Hexacopter drone to deliver goods belongs to PT Aero Terra Scan is being developed. This dynamic modeling aims to further the drone's development by modeling it in 2 cases: no-payload and with a payload of 5 kg cases. The dynamic model of this Hexacopter is based on flight dynamics, a field of science studied in Aeronautical Engineering, and is implemented using Simulink. Through the results of this research, several conclusions have been withdrawn: (1) The drone's unstable nature characteristic inherently, even though it is analyzed from the initial hover condition. Thus, the drone and its system as a whole can never be separated with the feedback control that made it can maneuver adequately. (2) Several technical parameters of this Hexacopter, including the geometry, mass, the moment of inertia, until the estimation of motor throttle is required to achieve its hover conditions, both in the no-payload case and with-payload of 5 kg case.  (3) The Hexacopter basic dynamic system model is based on the flight dynamics until its motion system control tuning through root locus map analysis using Simulink.

Abstract

Red onions and garlics are one of the most usual spices that is used in Indonesian food. One of the content inside the onions is sulfur, which can react chemically and form sulfenic acid. Sulfenic acid is one of the chemical compound which can cause sore to redness on human’s eyes. Production process that include pre-harvest to post-harvest requires support of effective facilities, suitable equipment and agricultural machinery so that productivity could be increased. Red onions and garlics peeling in mass number will cost a lot of time and can cause irritation on human’s eyes. Therefore, an onion peeler which can peel a lot of red onions and garlics without human intervention is needed to increase productivity. Bhakti Kasih Orphanage at Bogor provides a home for 55 children from around Indonesia such as Papua, Ambon, Nias, Jakarta and even Timor Leste. Furthermore, there are also 4 caretakers and 7 alumni from Bhakti Kasih Orphanage living with them. Foods that are provided there often use red onions and garlic as base spices, which usually takes 20 minutes per kilogram garlics or red onions to peel the skin off.

Abstract

Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) is a control valve designed to reduce upstream pressure to downstream pressure on fluid flow. When operating, a PRV is in an equilibrium condition because of the forces acting on it, such as fluid resultant force, membrane force, and spring force. On some working conditions, a PRV cannot operate because the equilibrium is unattainable by the spring that deflects further than the maximum allowable limit and unable to produce force balancing out other forces. Therefore, a modification on the spring wire diameter from 17 mm to 20 mm is conducted without altering other PRV parts dimension and geometry. The modified spring will be analysed through analytical analysis and simulation analysis with Ansys software. On the same working conditions with the enlargement of the spring wire diameter, the deflection that once was 99,28 mm decreases to 42,64 mm and does not exceed the maximum limit at 74,375 mm so the PRV can operate on said condition and the pressure drop range increases from 7 bar to 9 bar.

Abstract

The increasing global energy demand drives the development of efficient and sustainable renewable energy solutions. Floating Solar PV (FSPV) technology offers a viable solution by utilizing water surfaces such as reservoir ash ponds in coal-fired power plants without requiring additional land. This study aims to analyze the technical and economic aspects of an FSPV system with a capacity of 15.2 kWp using HelioScope and Homer Pro software, assuming Global Horizontal Irradiance (GHI) data from the National Solar Radiation Database. The analysis methods include annual energy production, Net Present Cost (NPC), Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE), and other economic metrics such as Return on Investment (ROI), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and Simple Payback Period for various grid electricity price escalation scenarios. The results show that a 5% annual increase in grid electricity prices reduces the simple payback period from 18.2 years to 13 years, with an ROI increase to 6.3% and an IRR of 7.1%. This study concludes that the FSPV system not only supports the transition to clean energy but also offers greater financial benefits under scenarios of rising grid electricity prices.

Abstract

The traditional process of peeling a pineapple using a knife is complex and time-consuming. Therefore, a specialized peeler is needed to increase the productivity of honey pineapple peddlers located in the Cisauk area, South Tangerang. The objective of this service activity is to design a prototype of a pineapple peeler using press technology that can peel pineapples more quickly and efficiently, and produce more precise and uniform cuts. This pineapple peeler consists of a knife ring with a diameter of 11-12 cm. It is also equipped with a spring system with an inner diameter of 30 mm, an outer diameter of 41 mm, and a length of 206 mm which functions as part of the mechanism to automatically return the knife ring and pressing lever to their original position. The knife and spring components are made from food-grade Stainless Steel 316 and 304, rsepectively. The test results show that the prototype peeler can peel honey pineapple measuring 10-12 cm in diameter in an average time of 13.11 seconds. It is hoped that the use of this peeler can help increase the productivity of small pineapple peddlers, as well as reduce their burden and work risks.

Abstract

This research was carried out by developing simulation scenario for the integration of solar power plant into the existing electricity system in Tanjung Kelumpang Village (Punai Beach Area, Belitung Geopark Global Network) with an electricity load pattern at the location in the amount of 24.000 kWh/ day using HOMER software. The simulation scenario prepared is integrating solar power plant with 30% of the existing diesel power plant capacity (the diesel power plant capacity entering the system is 540 kW) and the PLN electricity network. The simulation and optimization results show that integrating solar power plant with 30% of the existing diesel power plant capacity and the PLN electricity network produces the most optimal value, with the number of Levelized Cost of Electricity (LCOE) is Rp 1.173/ kWh and Net Present Cost (NPC) is Rp 1.788/ kWh. The integration of solar power plant into the existing electricity system of Tanjung Kelumpang village can be a solution for providing clean, environmentally friendly energy at competitive rates. The development direction of Bangka Belitung Province is currently experiencing a transition from mining based economy to sustainable tourism based economy. The integration of renewable energy generation from solar power plant in geosite area is considered to be able to create multiplier effects to achieve sustainable development goals in tourism sector. A number of methods must be encouraged and accelerated to achieve this, such as policy making, providing infrastructure, increasing human resource competency, cooperation and investment pattern, as well as active community involvement in the process.

Abstract

Selama dua dekade terakhir, telah banyak studi mengenai manfaat sayap membran lentur terhadap kinerja aerodinamika untuk pengembangan Micro Air Vehicles (MAVs). Studi eksperimental kali ini dilakukan untuk mengeksplorasi manfaat pengaruh profil sayap lentur terhadap kinerja aerodinamika pada bilangan Reynolds sebesar = 50000. Pengujian pengaruh kelenturan sayap dilakukan dengan cara menguji berbagai jumlah dan interval antar pembuluh sayap di arah chord. Pengujian untuk mengetahui kinerja aerodinamika pada setiap variasi profil sayap lentur dilakukan dengan menggunakan terowongan angin. Kinerja aerodinamika dapat diketahui dengan mengukur gaya angkat dan gaya hambat pada setiap variasi profil sayap lentur terhadap berbagai sudut serang. Hasil pengukuran menunjukan bahwa profil sayap dengan distribusi interval tidak seragam, terutama lebih padat di daerah dekatdengan pangkal sayap (root), akan memberikan manfaat kinerja aerodinamika yang signifikan. Pengukuran menunjukan bahwasayap dengan pembuluh yang lebih padat di daerah root dapat meningkatkan leading edge vortices (LEVs) dan membentuk pusaran udara di daerah tepi sayap (tip vortices) yang berguna untuk menyeimbangkan beban aerodinamika pada permukaan sayap atas dan bawah.
