Abstract

Abstract

Numerous papers have examined the effect of national income on FDI using cross-country data, including in developing countries. However, few papers focus on one specific region, particularly in ASEAN developing countries.  This study analyzes the effect of GDP growth on FDI in ASEAN-5 countries from 2004 to 2019. Panel data regression with fixed effect estimation was performed to document the relationship between GDP growth and FDI. Using some macroeconomic control variables, the findings demonstrated that GDP growth has a positive and significant impact on the FDI.  Additionally, the effects of the currency rate, trade openness, and inflation on FDI are positive. Therefore, macroeconomic performances such as GDP growth, exchange rate, trade openness, and inflation are the main factors attracting FDI in ASEAN-5 countries.

Abstract

Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises is an important sector in the Indonesian economy. Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises have a very important role in improving people's welfare and creating jobs. However, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises also face various obstacles, such as limited access to capital, limited access to information, and limited market access. This scientific study aims to examine the impact of economic growth and inflation on MSME credit growth in Indonesia during the 2015-2022 period. Abstract

Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia, especially in Sigedong Village, have a significant role in economic development and job creation. To improve innovation and efficiency of MSMEs, the One Village One Product (OVOP) program is implemented, with a focus on brick production. The innovations implemented involve the use of wood powder as an alternative raw material, which is expected to improve product quality, efficiency, and sustainability. The implementation method includes counseling, mentoring, and collaboration with wood producers. The results of these innovations show that the bricks produced are of better quality, higher efficiency, and more environmentally friendly, as well as supporting sustainable production practices. Follow-up recommendations include the adoption of innovative methods, collaboration with academia and government, and periodic monitoring to ensure the success of innovation.

Abstract

Foreign direct investment (FDI) is an important input to the achievement of a country's goals such as economic growth and poverty. The study looks at the impact of financial development (FD) on foreign direct investment (FDI) in nine ASEAN member states along with China, India, Japan and South Korea in 2018-2022. The estimate method used is the GMM method (generalized method of moment). The study found that financial development positively and significantly influenced the flow of foreign direct investment. Trade openness, human development and price levels were also found to influence FDI while economic growth was found to have no significant impact. The findings in this study imply that a good financial system is essential to attract even higher FDI.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to integrate the concept of Brain, Beauty, and Behavior (3B) into the character development of university students as a foundation for shaping a high-quality generation, particularly through an educational approach within the field of Development Economics. The activity was conducted through an interactive seminar targeted at participants of the “Akang-Teteh Ekbang” selection event, namely selected students who serve as departmental ambassadors. The seminar covered the scope of development economics, career prospects, and the importance of strengthening critical thinking (brain), self-confidence and communication skills (beauty), as well as ethics and social responsibility (behavior) as an integrated foundation for forming excellent and adaptive graduate profiles. The methods applied included material presentation and reflective discussion. The results indicated an increase in academic motivation and participants' understanding of the strategic role of the Development Economics major. These findings suggest the need to strengthen similar programs as part of an integrated strategy for student character and academic development.
