Abstract

The research on the sustainability of waste management in the city of Kupang aims to analyze the current status of waste management sustainability in the city. The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the sustainability status of the waste management system and identify the factors that influence its sustainability. This research employs sustainability analysis using the Multi-Dimensional Scaling (MDS) technique through the RAPFISH (Rapid Assessment Technique for Fisheries) approach. The data collection techniques in this study include observation, Questionnaires, and Interviews. Field data collection will be conducted from July to November 2023. The research results indicate that the waste management system in Kupang City, in terms of reduction and handling, is not optimal, with a sustainability status of waste management in Kupang City having an average index value of 46.17, placing it in the 'Less Sustainable' category.  The conclusion of this study emphasizes that waste management in Kupang City still requires improvement, particularly in terms of regulations, facility and infrastructure enhancements, and community engagement. The implications of this study are the need to transition the landfill system from open dumping to a sanitary landfill, enhance education and socialization programs, and allocate a larger budget for more sustainable waste management.

Abstract

This service activity has been carried out in the GMIT Mizpa Bonen categorical group, most of whom work as farmers and livestock breeders who are members of the dry land farmer group. The aim of this training is to provide knowledge, understanding and skills about increasing productivity through the use of livestock manure, dry land weeds and plant litter as compound organic fertilizer which has higher economic value and plays a dual role in dry land plant cultivation. The approach method for this activity is lectures and direct practice regarding the application of making compound organic fertilizer. The results achieved from this PKM activity are that the community has increased knowledge and skills in utilizing plant biomass around their living environment as organic fertilizer to support the growth and development of cultivated plants.

Abstract

The Certificate of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is a regulatory requirement in Indonesia to ensure the quality and safety of food and beverage products. However, many micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Kupang City have yet to obtain CPPOB certification, largely due to limited knowledge and skills in meeting the necessary requirements. This community service program aimed to assist an MSME in implementing CPPOB standards through a series of activities, including surveys, production process assessments, coordination with stakeholders, and mentoring to improve production systems. UMK Abon Yudhistira, located in Naikoten II, Kupang City, was selected as the model enterprise. The intervention focused on redesigning the production room layout to reduce the risk of cross-contamination arising from the movement of raw materials, finished products, personnel activities, and external factors. In addition, product packaging information was revised to enhance traceability in accordance with CPPOB guidelines. The program resulted in significant improvements in production practices, enabling UMK Abon Yudhistira to successfully obtain CPPOB certification from the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority. This initiative demonstrates that targeted technical assistance can effectively support MSMEs in achieving compliance with national food safety and quality standards.

Abstract

Abstract - The PKM Program for Organic Vegetable Cultivation in the Yard Land in an Effort to Support the Family Economy During the Covid 19 Pandemic was carried out in the area of ​​RT 17, RW 07, Naimata Village, Kupang City. The main targets to be achieved from this program are: (1) increasing the independence of partners in meeting household food needs; (2) mastery of hydroponic system installation techniques; (3) mastery of hydroponic system plant cultivation technology; (4) mastery of technology for making liquid organic fertilizer based on household organic waste and organic pesticides. The approach method applied in the implementation of this PKM program is the transfer of information and technology transfer through socialization and training activities. Activities carried out include: training on plant cultivation technology with hydroponic and verticulture systems, training on hydroponic equipment installation, as well as training on technology for making liquid organic fertilizers and organic pesticides. After this PKM activity took place, the level of knowledge and skills of partner group members regarding technology for cultivating organik vegetables with a hydroponic system, installation techniques for hydroponic plant cultivation equipment, techniques for making liquid organic fertilizers and organic pesticides have increased significantly. This increase in knowledge and skills is followed by an increase in the interest of partner group members to apply the technology in an effort to fulfil household food by optimally utilizing the yard. Abstrak – Program PKM Budidaya Sayuran Organik di Lahan Pekarangan Dalam Upaya Menopang Ekonomi Keluarga Pada Masa Pandemi Covid 19 dilaksanakan di wilayah RT 17, RW 07, Kelurahan Naimata, Kota Kupang. Target utama yang ingin dicapai dari program ini adalah: (1) peningkatan kemandirian mitra dalam memenuhi kebutuhan pangan rumah tangga; (2) penguasaan teknik pembuatan instalasi sistem hidroponik; (3) penguasaan teknologi budidaya tanaman sistem hidroponik; (4) penguasaan teknologi pembuatan pupuk organik cair berbasis sampah organik rumah tangga dan pestisida organik. Metode pendekatan yang diterapkan dalam pelaksanaan program PKM ini adalah transfer informasi dan alih teknologi melalui kegiatan sosialisasi dan pelatihan. Kegiatan yang dilakukan meliputi: pelatihan teknologi budidaya tanaman dengan sistem hidroponik dan vertikultur, pelatihan instalasi peralatan hidroponik, serta pelatihan teknologi pembuatan pupuk organik cair dan pestisida organik. Setelah kegiatan PKM ini berlangsung, tingkat pengetahuan dan keterampilan anggota kelompok mitra tentang teknologi budidaya tanaman sayuran organik dengan sistem hidroponik, terknik instalasi peralatan budidaya daya tanaman hidroponik, teknik pembuatan pupuk organik cair dan pestisida organik mengalami peningkatan secara signifikan. Peningkatan pengetahuan dan keterampilan ini diikuti dengan peningkatan minat anggota kelompok mitra untuk menerapkan teknologi tersebut dalam upaya pemenuhan pangan rumah tangga dengan memanfaatkan lahan pekarang secara optimal.

Abstract

Penelitian ini telah dilaksanakan di lahan Unit Pelaksana Teknis (UPT) Laboratorium Lahan Kering dan di Laboratorium Kimia Tanah, FakultasPertanian, Universitas Nusa Cendana dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan zeolite dalam meningkatkan ketersediaan hara N asal pupuk NPK, pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman jagung di lahan kering beriklim kering di NTT. Penelitian dirancang dalam percobaan faktorial menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap. Faktor pertama yang dicobakan adalah dosis pupuk NPK yang terdiri atas 4 level, yakni: tanpa aplikasi pupuk NPK (P0); 1/3 dosis anjuran pupuk NPK yakni 133,33kg.ha-1 (P1); 2/3 dosis anjuran pupuk NPK yakni 166,67kg.ha-1 (P2); dan sesuai dosis anjuran yakni 400 kg.ha-1 (P3). Faktor kedua yang dicobakan adalah dosis zeolit yang terdiri dari 4 level, yakni: tanpa aplikasi zeolit (Z0); 3t.ha-1zeolit (Z1); 6t.ha-1zeolit (Z2) dan 9t.ha-1 zeolit(Z3). Terdapat 16 kombinasi perlakuan yang dibuat dalam 3 ulangan. Parameter yang diamati adalah: kandungan N-total tanah, tinggi tanaman, total jumlah daun per tanaman dan bobot segar tongkol per tanaman. Hasil penelitianmenunjukkan: (1) peran zeolit dalam meningkatkan ketersediaan N asal pupuk NPK di dalam tanah terlihat hanya pada level perlakuan dosis pupuk NPK yang relatif tinggi. Pada level dosis pupuk NPK sebesar 2/3 dosis anjuran (267,66 kg.ha-1) dan sesuai dosis anjuran (400kg.ha-1), aplikasi zeolit dengan dosis 3 ton.ha-1, 6t.ha-1, dan 9t.ha-1 mampu menghasilkan kandungan N-total tanah yang nyata lebih tinggi dibanding perlakuan tanpa aplikasi zeolit; (2) aplikasi pupuk NPK sebanyak 1/3 dosis anjuran (133,33 kg.ha-1), 2/3 dosis anjuran (267,66 kg.ha-1) dan sesuai dosis anjuran (400kg.ha-1) mampu menghasilkan bobot segar tongkol per tanaman yang nyata lebih tinggi dibanding perlakukan tanpa aplikasi pupuk NPK. Walaupun demikian, antar perlakuan dosis pupuk NPK tidak terdapat perbedaan yang nyata pada bobot segar tongkol yang dihasilkan, sehingga tidak ditemukan perlakuan dosis pupuk NPK yang memberikan pengaruh terbaik terhadap hasil jagung pada penelitian ini; (3) aplikasi zeolit dengan dosis 9t.ha-1memberikan pengaruh yang terbaik terhadap bobot segar tongkol per tanaman jagung dibanding perlakuan dosis zeolit 3t.ha-1 dan 6t.ha-1.

Abstract

ABSTRAKTanaman gewang (Corypha utan Lamk) merupakan salah satu tanaman palma penghasil nira di Timor. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk mempelajari karakteristik nira yang disadap dengan dua cara. Tanaman gewang dipilih secara sengaja di Kecamatan Kupang Timur. Nira gewang yang disadap dengan cara mengiris ujung tandan bunga memperlihatkan jumlah hasil panen nira yang lebih banyak, yaitu rata-rata mencapai 60,37 ± 5,82 liter per hari dengan total padatan terlarut dan kandungan gula pereduksi yang lebih tinggi, yaitu masing-masing berturut-turut 18,3 ± 0,1 oBrix dan  24,50 ± 0,6 % dibandingkan dengan nira yang diperoleh dengan cara pemangkasan pucuk tanaman, serta memiliki pH netral (6,92) dan tampilan warna maupun sifat mikrobiologis (total koloni mikroba) yang relatif tidak jauh berbeda untuk nira dari hasil kedua teknik penyadapan; sehingga disarankan bagi masyarakat petani pengrajin nira gewang untuk sebaiknya memanen nira gewang dengan cara atau teknik pengirisan ujung tandan bunga tanaman.Kata kunci: Nira gewang, Teknik penyadapan, Sifat fisiko-kimia
