This study aimed at investigating categories of semantic fi eldby nonenglish department students. The researcher designed thisresearch as explanatory qualitative research. There are three steps in holding this research. The fi rst stepis to collect the data. The data card is considered as the appropri-ate data. The nonenglish students’ aspirations of semantic fi eld arethe only data. The next step is to analyze the data. The researcherused the Riemer’s theory (the semantics of categorization) to ana-lyze the data. The students’aspiration would be classifi ed accordingto Riemer’s theory. The last step is to present the analysis. The re-searcher classifi ed the data into two categories: a) classical categori-zation, and b) prototype categorization. The dominant classical cat-egorization could be fi nd in the lexical items like house, bathroom, tree, concert, holiday, library, hospital, football competition, and aircraft. The researcher investigated dominant prototype cat-egorization in the lexical items as follows; car, ship, mountain, post offi ce, and minimarket.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of assertive speech acts in an official press release by the Chief of the Indonesian Attorney General’s Office, which addressed public concerns over the illegal blending of RON 92 fuel. A descriptive qualitative method was employed, using documentation and indirect observation as data collection techniques. The researcher transcribed into written form and analyzed through pragmatic approach, focusing on identifying assertive speech acts based on Searle’s classifications. Data analysis applied Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed 11 assertive speech acts categorized into four types: stating, reporting, claiming, and concluding. These speech acts functioned to rebuild public trust in Pertamina Patra Niaga and to counter misinformation circulating among the public. This research contributes to the understanding of how institutional communication through assertive speech acts can reinforce public confidence during social controversies.

Abstract

The quality of education in the digital era demands a deeper and more adaptive learning approach. Deep learning as a learning strategy oriented towards conceptual understanding and critical thinking is a solution in improving the quality of education. This concept emphasises students' active involvement in the exploration, analysis, and application of knowledge in a real context. However, the implementation of this method in various educational institutions still faces challenges, especially in the readiness of educators and supporting infrastructure. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design to explore the application of deep learning in quality education strategies. The data sources consist of teachers, lecturers, and students who have direct experience in this method, selected through purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. Data were analysed using thematic analysis to identify patterns of implementation, impacts, and challenges in implementing deep learning. The results show thatdeep learning has a positive impact on students' conceptual understanding, critical thinking skills, and creativity. The implementation of this method through project-based learning (project-based learning) and inquiry-based approach is proven to increase students' active engagement. However, challenges such as educators' readiness and limited infrastructure are still the main obstacles. Therefore, a more systematic strategy is needed in integrating deep learning into the education system so that it can be implemented effectively.

Abstract

High institution needed the management of employment resources that were suitable, fair, and selective. However, the educational workers from private institution frequently considered as low quality workers because they could not be competitive with others. Al Muhammad Cepu High Institute has a fixed strategies for the recruitment of lecturers from Assistant Professor (AA/Asisten Ahli) up to Full Professor (Guru Besar/GB). In this study, the current researchers aimed to describe strategies in recruiting lecturers. Those strategies was reached based on the S.W.O.T. matrix analysis with the internal and external factors. This was descriptive research by completing the collaborative approach between qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative data were identifications of internal external  factors and synchronization of any norm and applicable rules related to lecturer’s recruitment. Quantitative data were tabulation of IFAS AND EFAS factors.  Next, the writers have found two strategies for recruiting functional-level lecturers that were; 1) open-ended recruitment, and 2) closed-ended recruitment. Moreover, from the current employment data and those applicable recruitment systems, the researchers processed the findings by using the S.W.O.T. approach. This process occurred in some steps like a)identifying internal and external factors, and b)composing IFAS (Internal Factor Analysis Strategy) and EFAS (External Factor Analysis Strategy), c) confirming the statistical rate starts from 0,00 up to 1,00,  d) taking the level from the number of 1,00 up to 4,00, and e) making quadrant matrix and relativity ratio, and 4)explain the challenges, obstacles, and opportunities.
