Abstract

Menopause is a natural phase experienced by all women, marked by the cessation of menstruation and often accompanied by symptoms of estrogen decline. With the increasing life expectancy of women, most will spend significant years in the menopausal phase, facing various physical and psychological symptoms that disrupt their quality of life. Objective: This study aims to compare the effects of traditional massage with and without the combination of lemongrass aromatherapy on menopausal symptoms.: This is a quasi-experimental study with a pretest and posttest design with two comparison treatments on 40 women aged 40-60 years, divided into two groups. The first group received traditional massage with lemongrass oil and lemongrass aromatherapy, while the second group received traditional massage with lemongrass oil only. Measurements were taken before and one week after the intervention, using the Menopause Rating Scale (MRS) to assess menopausal symptoms. Results: Menopausal symptom scores significantly decreased in both groups after the intervention. The aromatherapy massage group showed a decrease in the average symptom score from 14.80 to 5.60 (p=0.000), while the traditional massage group showed a decrease from 11.34 to 4.65 (p=0.000). The comparison between the two groups yielded a p-value of 0.197, indicating no significant difference in symptom score reduction, although the aromatherapy massage group experienced a greater decrease in menopausal symptoms than the massage-only group. There is no significant difference in the reduction of menopausal symptoms between the groups receiving massage with and without lemongrass aromatherapy; however, both interventions are equally effective in reducing menopausal symptoms. Further research is needed to increase the frequency of lemongrass aromatherapy massage.

Abstract

TB is an infectious disease which occurs in the respiratory system. Since the implementation of DOTS nationally in 2000 to 2014 has shown positive progress. However, there are still many challenges that must be faced by the government. One of them is the knowledge of TB sufferers themselves who still need to be improved regarding all matters relating to TB disease, especially regarding the DOTS strategy In 2015, the number of pulmonary TB patients treated at the Pipit Hospital in Anutapura General Hospital in Palu from January to May totaled 115 patients. Based on preliminary studies at Anutapura General Hospital, the majority of TB patients stated they did not know or had never heard of DOTS. They only know the common signs and symptoms of pulmonary TB, which are coughing for more than two weeks and know the combination of TB drugs that must be taken. This study aims to analyze the relationship between patient knowledge about pulmonary TB with the DOTS strategy. The design of this research is analytic with Cross Sectional approach. The population in this study was all patients in the Pipit treatment room at Anutapura General Hospital, Palu in January-March 2019, amounting to 114 people. The sample in this study was 24 people using simple random sampling technique. Data analysis use chi-square test. The results showed a relationship between the levels of knowledge regarding pulmonary tuberculosis with the DOTS strategy in Anutapura Regional Hospital in Palu (p-value = 0.011)

Abstract

Academic performance and personal conduct are two interrelated facets within the field of education. Nonetheless, numerous obstacles, including insufficient motivation, diminished self-confidence, and adverse conduct, can impede the achievement of optimal learning results. This initiative seeks to employ a positive affirmation counseling methodology to improve academic performance and mitigate adverse behaviors among participants. The applied strategy encompasses problem identification via focus group discussions, execution of individual and group-based positive affirmation counseling, and assessment of outcomes through questionnaires and observation. The results demonstrate that positive affirmation approaches significantly enhance learning motivation, transform participants' mindsets, and diminish negative behaviors that previously obstructed the learning process. Participants indicated enhanced self-confidence and improved stress management in academic settings. In conclusion, the positive affirmation method has demonstrated efficacy in cultivating healthy mindsets and enabling individuals to realize their academic and social potential.

Abstract

Despite the availability of effective pharmacological treatments, blood pressure control remains suboptimal due to medication-related side effects, adherence issues, and limited access to healthcare, especially in low- and middle-income countries. This systematic review aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of natural resources in reducing blood pressure among individuals with hypertension, based on evidence from randomized controlled trials (RCTs). Following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, a comprehensive literature search was conducted in PubMed, ScienceDirect, Cochrane Library, and Medline. Eligible studies were English-language RCTs investigating the effects of medicinal plants, herbal extracts, or natural dietary supplements on systolic and/or diastolic blood pressure. Data were extracted on study design, population characteristics, type of intervention, duration, outcomes, and safety. Twenty-four RCTs were included, covering interventions such as Hibiscus sabdariffa, Nigella sativa, aged garlic extract, oat bran, celery, and polyherbal formulations. Most interventions showed significant reductions in blood pressure, especially in individuals with stage 1 hypertension. Side effects were rare and mild. Conclusion: Natural resources show promise as adjunct antihypertensive therapies, but study heterogeneity limits generalizability. Standardized, large-scale trials are needed.
