Abstract

Morpheme dan Syntax merupakan subjek perkuliahan yang wajib diampu oleh seluruh mahasiswa program studi pendidikan Bahasa Inggris, ironisnya, berdasarkan hasil observasi, 70% mahasiswa tidak memiliki ketertarikan dalam pembelajaran ini karena diaggap sebagai momok yang menakutkan. Sulitnya memahami buku saintifik bahasa asing, dan kelangkaan pembaharuan materi pembelajaran menjadi kendala mahasiswa, mengakibatkan mahasiswa hanya menggantungkan pemahaman mereka kepada dosen dalam proses pembelajaran tatap muka. Situasi pandemi yang mengharuskan mahasiswa untuk belajar mandiri dengan buku induk morphemes dan syntax yang sulit dipahami, serta metode pembelajaran yang monotone membuat pembelajaran daring menjadi tidak efektif. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan materi tambahan Morpho-Syntax melalui smart chart bagi mahasiswa agar mudah dipahami dan dapat digabungkan dengan sumber pembelajaran lainnya. Untuk mencapai tujuan, peneliti menggunakan desain Penelitian dan Pengembangan dengan mengadopsi dan mengadaptasi dari Borg and Gall yang dalam tiga langkah, yakni analisis kebutuhan, desain pengembangan dan validasi produk. Peneliti melakukan studi pendahuluan, mendesain pemecahan masalah dan mengembangkan materi pelengkap sejak akhir Agustus 2020 lalu melalui beberapa tahapan sampai akhirnya peneliti berhasil memproduksi materi tambahan English Morpho-Syntax berdasar pada Smart Chart. Berdasarkan hasil trying out yang telah dilakuakan, pengembangan materi ajar melalui Smart Chart mendapatkan hasil bahwa 75% mahasiswa dapat memahami pembelajaran Moprho-Syntax dengan baik.

Abstract

Most of the students got low scores in reading and understanding the material in online classes, this situation should be attention to Merdeka Curriculum. Most of the students lack interest in learning reading in an online class, because the learning methods in reading did not attract students, so the students had difficulty in answering explicit and implicit questions in reading comprehension. The purpose of this research is to determine the significant differences before and after using the brain mapping method in students' reading comprehension. This research designed as quantitative research that used one group pre-test and post-test design. sample amounted to 35 students. Collecting data used documentation and reading comprehension tests which were analyzed using Paired T-test with the help of SPSS 18 for Windows and N-Gain using Microsoft Excel. The post-test average learning outcome (77,29) was greater than the pretest (69.00). The results of the paired t-test showed the significance value (2-tailed) was 0.000 means there was significant effectiveness before and after using the Brain Mapping method toward Blogger as the online media for learning reading. The results of N-Gain showed the students’ learning outcomes improved from 35 students, 21 (60%) students got improvement in the medium category and 14 (40%) students got improvement in the low category. Brain mapping method combined with rewards and interesting materials can improve student achievement where students are more active and enthusiastic in the online teaching and learning process.,

Abstract

Most of the students form non English Department have difficulties to understand the scientific reading text and served it in verbal based on their understanding. Then, Productive Reading Technique is one of techniques that could improve the students’ critical thinking trough scientific reading text, especially for students’ non English Department. This is the way to prepare the students’ to achieve their understanding in scientific reading text in TOEFL test. This research designed in experimental way and served as control class and experiment class. Through this research, the students faced some activities that improved their reading skill. The result in pre-test is 54,24 and the students’’ post-test 73,9, even this research is not significant but Productive Reading Technique effective to solve the students’ problem for Non English Department.

This study is a qualitative investigation aimed at exploring the role of the TikTok platform in English language learning. Employing a conceptual-empirical approach, the research utilises data gathered from observations conducted by the researchers. This empirical data serves to examine a phenomenon independently of existing theoretical frameworks. The analysis of both conceptual and empirical data reveals that the TikTok platform functions as an effective learning medium, facilitating students' enhancement of their English skills across listening, speaking, reading, writing, and supplementary competencies such as grammar. Furthermore, it was discovered that the integration of TikTok into the learning process affords students opportunities to engage with experiences and knowledge beyond the confines of the classroom. Consequently, students develop a positive outlook, bolstered by increased self-confidence in their English learning journey.

Abstract

CCUI is a college learning approach designed to develop deep conceptual and critical social understanding. This approach not only improves academic achievement but also shapes analytical and critical thinking skills, preparing students to face real-world challenges. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Critical-Conceptual Understanding Instruction (CCUI) in improving students' critical thinking skills in learning sociolinguistics. The quasi-experimental research study was conducted on English language education students who took sociolinguistics course. Data were collected using questionnaires, tests, and documentation, with parametric analysis used for data processing. Various activities were implemented to stimulate understanding, critical thinking process and learning outcomes of sociolinguistics by using YouTube as a learning tool. The results of observations, questionnaires, and tests showed that students' understanding of sociolinguistic material improved after the application of CCUI. The mean score of the pretest in the experimental class was 38.06, which increased experiment was 38.06, which increased to 82.06 in the post-test. Although some students made mistakes in answering the questions, their overall understanding showed a significant improvement. Students' social critical thinking skills were evident from their responses and ideas during the learning process, as well as from the comparison between pretest and post-test scores. Based on the analysis of the test results of learning outcomes, learning completeness, student activities, and critical thinking development, CCUI in sociolinguistic learning using YouTube effectively improves students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Abstrak Chat GPT merupakan salah satu AI yang paling sering diminai oleh mahasiswa dalam memahami pembelajaran. Hal ini karena Chat GPT memberikan banyak sumber data secara cepat dan instan dalam memecahkan suatu masalah. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui motivasi mahasiswa mempelajari Moprhosyntax sebelum dan setelah menggunakan apikasi AI chat GPT. Dengan kata lain, peneliti ingin mengukur efektifitas media Chat GPT Bagai mahasiswa dalam pembelajaran Moprheme dan Syntax yang disingkat dnegan Morphosyntax. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen yang berfokus pada motivasi mahasiswa. Peneliti menggunakan purposive sampling dengan menggunakan 32 mahasiswa. Sementara itu, kueasioner yang teah di desain dalam 25 petanyaan pilihan ganda digunakan sebagai data penelitian. Penelitian ini menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan statistik inferensial dengan uji-t untuk menganalisis data. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, diketahui taraf signifikan 5% untuk Df = 31, nilai thitung 6,621, dan nilai ttabel 1,696, maka nilai thitung ttabel yang berarti Ha diterima. Mahasiswa juga mendapatkan nilai rata-rata pre-test 75,718 dan rata-rata post-test 83,906. Dengan demikian, ChatGPT efektif dalam meningkatkan minat mahasiswa dalam pembelajaran linguistik   Abstract The students were familiar with ChatGPT as AI in education. This application provides various data to solve the students’ problems easily and quickly. The purpose of this study is to determine students' motivation before using ChatGPT media in linguistic learning; Determine students' motivation after using ChatGPT media in linguistic learning; and determine how effective ChatGPT is in increasing students' motivation in linguistic learning. This study was designed quantitatively, and the type of experiment was pre-experiment with one pretest-posttest group. 32 students in the treatment class were the sample used by the author.  Purposive sampling was the sampling method. In this study, a questionnaire test was used to collect data. This study used descriptive statistics and inferential statistics with t-test to analyze the data based on the exam results. Based on the results of the analysis, it is known that the 5% significant level for Df = 31, the tcount value is 6.621, and the ttable value is 1.696, then the tcount value is ttable which means Ha is accepted. Students also get an average pre-test score of 75.718 and an average post-test of 83,906. Thus, "ChatGPT is effective in increasing students' interest in learning linguistics."

Abstract

Difficult in understanding the saintific book, the monoutone learning method and uninteresting way to learn the Linguistic was the the classic problem which never resolved up to now. The purposes of this research are to cover the students’ problems in understanding Morphemes and Syntax Material based in virtual learning, reduce the students’ pressure and Increase the students’ motivation to learn Morphemes and Syntax material using Smart Chart. In implication, this reseach using experimental research with one group pre-test and post-test. The research was done for the English Department Students by using population and sampe is 32 students whose taken Morpheme and Syntax subject. This research designed was suitable which education atmoshere atmosphere in this era. The technique of sampling is using purposive sampling as the collecting data. Even the lecturer must be working hard and need more time to prepare the learning process, the students show the value table is 1,696 and value of t-test is 20,42. It means that Smart Chart Technique is effective and the students got good achievement.
