Abstract

Abstract

?-glucosidase inhibitor is a potential antidiabetic drug in controlling the blood glucose in diabetic patients. This study aims to screen the inhibitory activity of various parts of Alpinia denticulata against the ?-glucosidase enzyme through in-vitro testing. As a preliminary study, the 70% ethanolic extract of the Alpinia denticulata including rhizome, stem, leaf, and fruit was evaluated for inhibition of ?-glucosidase, together with total phenolic content and the toxicity based on the Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT). Each part of the plant extract showed a higher IC50 value than acarbose as a positive control (IC50 of fruit extract = 14.39 ?g/ml, IC50 of leaf extract 6.13 ?g/ml, IC50 of stem extract 20.57 ?g/ml, rhizome extract 126.67 ?g/ml and acarbose 172.02 ?g/ml). Interestingly, each of the extract also showed different quantities of total phenolic content in the same order as their IC50 in inhibiting ?-glucosidase activity. Additionally, the BSLT showed that only the leaf and stem are in the non-toxic group. Based on the assay, it suggested that this plant has the potential to be investigated as an antidiabetic drug.

Abstract

Celery plants (Apium Graveolens L) and bay leaves (Syzygium polyanthum) have been used as alternative medicine to treat Hyperuricemia. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of administration of extracts from celery plants and bay leafs to decrease uric acid levels in blood. This research used a post-test control group only design. A total of 24 male mice (randomly divided into 4 groups; P0, P1, P2 and P3). P0 was the control group (induced with caffeine at a dose of 0.5 mg/kgBW). P1 was induced with caffeine 0.5 mg/kgBW+celery extract 35 mg/kgBW, P2 was induced by caffeine 0.5 mg/kgBW+bay leaf extract 35 mg/kgBW and P3 was induced by caffeine + a combination of celery plant extract and bay leaves 35mg/kgBW. Uric acid levels were measured using an easy touch GCU meter device. The results showed that average of uric acid level for P0, P1, P2 and P4 were 7.1mg/dl; 4.9 mg/dl; 4 mg/dl; and 5.2 mg/dl, respectively. The most significant antihyperuricemia activity was demonstrated by administering 35 mg/kgBW of bay leaf extract. The One Way ANOVA analysis described that the administration of extract ethanol generated significant effects (p-value <0.05). Based on post hoc LSD analysis, it was found that the administration of ethanol extract from bay leaves showed significant differences compared to combination (celery + bay leaves) in lowering uric acid levels. Therefore, it was concluded extract from celery and bay leaves can be used to lower the level of uric acid

Abstract

The aim is to analyze the effect of work culture and discipline on the implementation of SOP, the influence of work culture, discipline, and the application of SOP on ASN performance, the influence of work culture on performance through the application of SOP, and the influence of work discipline on ASN performance through the application of SOP as an intervening variable. The method used is an associative quantitative method. The ASN population at the Regional Secretariat of the Province of West Sumatra, comprising 188 people, was sampled using a probability random sampling technique. The path analysis test was conducted using a closed-ended questionnaire instrument, which was analyzed using SPSS 24.0 software. The results of the data analysis show that work culture and discipline have a significant effect on the implementation of SOP. There is a substantial influence of work culture, discipline, and the application of SOPs on ASN performance. Then, the work culture indirectly, through the implementation of SOPs, doesn’t have a significant effect on ASN performance, and the influence of work culture on performance through the implementation of SOPs. The implementation of SOP has no considerable impact on ASN performance at the Regional Secretariat of West Sumatra Province.gb777
