Abstract

The main issue of this research is to explore students' perceptions of the key strengths of Universitas Terbuka in implementing distance education, specifically related to flexibility, affordability, interaction, accessibility, and distance learning skills in the Selayar Islands Regency. The present study aims to delve into student perception of the key strengths of Universitas Terbuka that become the standards by which its endeavors of distance education are carried out. Adopting a descriptive quantitative method, the study gathered data using a questionnaire in which five variables were measured, i.e., flexibility, affordability, interaction, accessibility, and distance-learning skills. The 5-point scale questionnaire was created in Google Forms and was distributed to the whole student population of Universitas Terbuka in Selayar Islands Regency through Study Groups. The data from the student questionnaire was assessed using a descriptive statistical method in SPSS 20. Based on the descriptive statistic findings from a total of 48 questionnaires, the mean that stands for the student perception of the five variables is 4.37 for flexibility, 4.34 for affordability, 4.35 for interaction, 4.45 for accessibility, and 4.31 for distance-learning skills. These findings lead to a noticeable conclusion; Universitas Terbuka has mobilized education and reached out to remote learners in small islands in an effective manner. In turn, this potentially informs policy discussions as to improve the roles of Universitas Terbuka in extending educational opportunities and services for underprivileged rural communities that particularly suffer from low educational attainment.

Abstract

Pemberdayaan kelompok wanita tani melalui pengolahan daun kelor di Desa Bowong Cindea, Kecamatan Bungoro, Kabupaten Pangkajene dan Kepulauan (Pangkep), dengan fokus pada pengentasan stunting dan peningkatan gizi anak. Melibatkan kerjasama antara Universitas Terbuka (UT) Makassar, kelompok wanita tani, Penyuluh Pertanian, dan pemerintah kabupaten, studi ini menerapkan metode kualitatif partisipatif. Prosesnya mencakup ceramah mengenai nilai gizi daun kelor, sesi tanya jawab untuk pemahaman mendalam, praktik pembuatan produk berbasis daun kelor, dan pendampingan oleh tim pelaksana. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas kegiatan dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta dalam mengolah daun kelor, serta dampaknya terhadap kesejahteraan komunitas. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi kegiatan, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pengetahuan dan keterampilan peserta, serta perkembangan positif dalam pemanfaatan daun kelor sebagai sumber gizi dan peluang ekonomi. Studi ini menyimpulkan bahwa pengolahan daun kelor sebagai intervensi nutrisi memiliki potensi signifikan dalam mengatasi kekurangan gizi dan membuka peluang ekonomi baru di daerah pedesaan. Pemberdayaan kelompok wanita tani dalam inisiatif ini juga mendemonstrasikan efektivitas pendekatan berbasis komunitas dalam intervensi kesehatan dan ekonomi. Abstract. Empowerment of Women's Farmer Groups through Moringa Leaf Processing in Bowong Cindea Village, Bungoro District, Pangkajene and Islands Regency (Pangkep). With a focus on reducing stunting and improving children's nutrition, this study involves collaboration between Universitas Terbuka (UT) Makassar, women's farmer groups, agricultural extension workers, and the district government. Using a participatory qualitative method, the process includes lectures on the nutritional value of Moringa leaves, Q&A sessions for in-depth understanding, hands-on practice in creating Moringa-based products, and guidance from the implementation team. The study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of these activities in enhancing participants' knowledge and skills in processing Moringa leaves, as well as their impact on community welfare. Data is collected through activity observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The results show a significant increase in participants' knowledge and skills, along with positive developments in the utilization of Moringa leaves as a nutritional source and economic opportunity. The study concludes that processing Moringa leaves as a nutritional intervention has significant potential in addressing malnutrition and opening new economic opportunities in rural areas. The empowerment of women's farmer groups in this initiative also demonstrates the effectiveness of a community-based approach in health and economic interventions
