Abstract

The quality management of biological laboratories can be detected through laboratory personnel evaluation that includes an evaluation of the quality of the laboratory, evaluation of student satisfaction as a practitioner, as well as the evaluation of the lecturer of biology, laboratory chief and head of the biology education courses as service providers practicum. This study aimed to analyze the satisfaction of practicum student of biology education S1 FKIP - UKI to quality of lecturer performance in providing service practicum. The usefullness of this research can be used as an evaluation of the quality of lecturer performance so that the results can be used for follow up as consideration in designing the management of the laboratory. Samples are students of Biology Education FKIP UKI third semester until seventh. The collection of data obtained by observation techniques, distribution of questionnaires and interviews. The data were collected and analyzed using descriptive methods percentage. The results of this study showed that the students of Biology Education FKIP UKI are satisfied with the services provided by a lecturer practicum.Keywords: student satisfaction, laboratories quality, management of biological laboratories quality, lecturer performance

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to develop a module on biodiversity with a local wisdom and cultural approach according to the Research and Development research method with the Sugiyono R&D stage. This research was conducted in 2 (two) stages, namely the First Stage of Development / Developing the Biodiversity Module with the Local Wisdom and Cultural Approach) and the Second Stage (Testing the use of modules and Mass Production). The Biodiversity Module with the Local Wisdom and Cultural Approach has a score of 91.33, which is in the very valid category. The mean score of knowledge (posttest) in the experimental class was higher than that of the control class, namely the knowledge value of the experimental class ≥65 but there is no significant difference the post-test scores between the control and experimental classes. This is because based on the Mann Whitney U Test, Ucount (54)> Utabel (27) then H0 is accepted. All respondents (100%) gave positive responses to the biodiversity module with the local wisdom and culture approach. Keywords: modules, biodiversity, local wisdom and culture, biology

Abstract

Utilization and processing of cassava peel waste into a paste of dry batteries associated with the needs of new alternative sources of electrical energy that is being Actively sought and developed along with the development of biotechnology. The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of cassava peel waste to generate electrical energy for use as an alternative material of organic pasta dry batteries. This study used experimental method with two variables: the independent variable ( X ) is the amount of salt usage while the dependent variable ( Y ) is a type of skin cassava Manihot utilissima Pohl with large voltage generated parameters. Data obtained from measurements of a large voltage is processed in the form of a table, and then analyzed by F test using ANOVA (Analysis of Variance). The results showed that the best concentration of salt administration which resulted in average - the highest average by a large voltage is 1.38 volts with a salt concentration of 20 grams of uncooked pasta treatment. ANOVA F test results show that the calculated F is greater than F table 0.05 so that Ho refused and the calculation continued to DMRT (Duncan's Multiple Range Test). These results indicate that there is the effect of salt concentration on the large voltage generated and cassava peel could be used as an alternative to pasta making dry battery.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the understanding of students' understanding of plant morphology and entomology specifically on the morphology and structure of insects in the Biology Education Study Program, FKIP Christian University of Indonesia. The research method is survey and content analysis. The research instrument was a non-test instrument. The data obtained are qualitative data in the form of resume biosketching and quantitative in the form of a questionnaire which is analyzed using percentage descriptive statistics. The results obtained were the first semester students with a score range of 65-80% in the understanding category, in the fifth semester students with a score of 90-100% in the very understanding category. This difference occurs because the fifth semester students have already received courses in plant morphology and entomology so that during the workshop they understand more about the morphology of the specimens drawn.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk modul materi Chordata dengan Pendekatan Saintifik dan mengetahui persepsi siswa mengenai modul tersebut. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian dan Pengembangan (R&D). Prosedur penelitian ini terdiri atas potensi dan masalah, pengumpulan data, desain produk, validasi desain, revisi desain, dan penyebaran kuesioner persepsi siswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada Semester Genap tahun ajaran 2021/2022, pada bulan Maret-Juli 2021. Validator modul terdiri atas 2 orang validasi materi, 2 orang validasi media, dan 2 orang validasi bahasa. Penilaian dari ahli materi memperoleh kelayakan dengan hasil rata-rata persentase 87,5% dengan kategori “sangat layak”. Penilaian ahli media memperoleh hasil rata-rata persentase 92% dengan kategori “sangat layak”. Penilaian ahli bahasa memperoleh rata-rata persentase 88,25% dengan kategori “sangat layak”. Subyek penelitian adalah 108 siswa kelas X MIPA dengan teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah purposive sampling. Teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis statistika deskriptif. Modul Chordata yang dikembangkan dengan Pendekatan Saintifik, memilliki karakteristik antara lain: 1) cover dan gambar yang diambil sebagian besar merupakan gambar yang difoto sendiri dan hewan khas Indonesia sehingga siswa lebih mengenal; 2) adanya peta konsep di awal modul membuat siswa bisa mampu melihat gambaran keseluruhan modul; 3) kegiatan-kegiatan yang bersifat Pendekatan Saintifik terdapat di setiap kegiatan pembelajaran; 4) terdapat pojok animalia sebagai informasi tambahan mengenai keunikan hewan; dan 5) terdapat link/tautan di dalam modul yang bisa diakses siswa.Persepsi/tanggapan siswa terhadap Modul Chordata dengan Pendekatan Saintifik berada pada kategori baik yang terdiri 43.52% memberikan persepsi sangat baik dan 56.48% memberikan persepsi baik

Abstract

This article is purposed to describe local and cultural wisdom approaches on biodiversity topics. Furthermore, this article describes the contents and characteristics of the Biodiversity module (handbook) with a local and cultural wisdom approach. The research method is Research and Development (R&D) conducted in 2020. Biodiversity module with local wisdom and culture approach   has 15 characteristics, namely containing elements: cover design reflects topics, communicative language, scientific learning, the meaningful learning, critical thinking, innovative, basic literacy especially digital literacy, character education, ethnobiological studies, ethnopedagogy study, 21st century skills, joyful learning through creativity, student centered learning, illustrations/pictures/media that explain the topic, originality of content and presentation, and prioritizes tolerance and not discriminatory. This module is expected to be a media alternative to biological learning by respecting the local wisdom and culture of the nation in order not to fade.

Abstract

Biology is a subject that learn topics about morphology, anatomy, and physiology, biodiversity, ecosystem, and the environment. Therefore, an appropriate learning approach is needed for students so that the topics will be received by students well. Learning is not only about a transfer of knowledge but also skills and attitudes. This article describes about learning approaches that can be applied to students in Biology. The research was a literature study method from various literature. There are three kinds of learning approaches that appropriate in Biology. They are Scientific Approach, Environmental Exploration Approach, and Local Wisdom and Cultural Approach. The characteristic of the scientific approach was scientific thinking. The characteristics of the Environmental Exploration Approach was an exploration in the environment, such as natural, social, and technology. The characteristic of the local wisdom and cultural approach was ethnobiology and ethnopedagogy studies in learning through science processes based on the level of knowledge, skills and attitudes of students. These three approaches were expected to be an alternative in learning Biology because they contain the principles of scientific processes and student centered learning in them to accommodate 21st-century education.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an electronic module for the material of sensory system which is continued by investigating students' perceptions toward the E-module that is made. This research method is Research and Development (R&D). This research is only up to the design revision stage, not going to the mass production. This research is conducted at SMA Trisakti, Medan from March to July 2021. Previously, E-module is validated by language, material, and media validators which are classified as very suitable to be used as learning media at school. The E-module of sensory system contains cover, introduction, concept maps, book characteristics, material description, videos for learning, articles, questions for exercise with the answer keys, and bibliography. The material description will be divided into five parts. There are the eyes, nose, ears, tongue, and skin. In the E-module, it is also linked to video that can make it easier for students to understand the material. The E-module of sensory system belongs to a good category rating and interests the eleventh graders of SMA Trisakti Medan.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk menganalisis kualitas laboratorium sehingga mengetahui manajemen laboratorium, kinerja pelayanan dosen pada praktikum, dan kepuasan mahasiswa melaksanakan praktikum di FKIP UKI. Permasalahan adalah bagaimana manajemen laboratorium dan kinerja pelayanan dosen dapat memberikan kepuasan praktikum kepada mahasiswa S1 Pendidikan Biologi FKIP UKI? Sampel penelitian adalah mahasiswa semester tiga hingga semester tujuh (35 orang). Metode penelitian adalah survei dengan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dengan teknik koesioner, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Kualitas manajemen laboratorium biologi diketahui melalui: evaluasi personel laboratorium, kualitas laboratorium, evaluasi kepuasan mahasiswa sebagai praktikan, dan evaluasi pada dosen biologi, kepala laboratorium, kepala program studi sebagai pemberi pelayanan praktikum. Pengolahan data dengan analisis deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa Program Studi S1 Pendidikan Biologi FKIP UKI tidak puas terhadap kualitas laboratorium dan kualitas manajemen laboratorium biologi, tetapi mahasiswa puas terhadap kinerja dosen dalam memberikan pelayanan praktikum kepada mahasiswa

Abstract

This study used Leiognathus equulus (fish pepetek) with simple biotechnology through lactic acid fermentation to produce preserved food that has intact fish texture, fragrant aroma, and delicious taste. The data collection technique used a closed questionnaire to the respondents. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive analysis of percentages and table tabulation of the percentage of preference criteria. The results showed that the preserved food products that were most liked by the public, namely the first sample fermentation was fermentation in the B3 sample, namely with a concentration of 30 grams of granulated sugar, 2 grams of Lactobacillus bulgaricus bacteria and 10 grams of salt. Percentage of assessment of the appearance of 94%, which is highly preferred with very attractive appearance indicators, fish shape that is intact, soft and fresh brownish white color. The organoleptic assessment of taste, which is 86%, is very favorable with indicators that it tastes very good, sweet and savory. The aroma is 90%, it is highly preferred with the indicator that the aroma is very delicious, fresh and smells like fruit. The organoleptic assessment of texture is 92% which is very favorable with indicators of soft, intact texture and softer bones fresh and fragrant like fruit.
