Abstract

In searching for a track record of earth formation, people tend to interpret field data in a way that limits the potential of history and explanation, which is often less influenced by theory and available facts, this requires valid data gathered intellectually. Geocomputing, which is the digital processing of geographic data, is a relatively recent field that reflects a wide range of research methodologies and their application to help solve problems in machine learning, geostatistics, image processing, and spatial analysis, among other areas. The purpose of this study was to assess the effectiveness of using geocomputational methods with Avenza Map and ArcGIS. This study uses geocomputation and spatial analysis to carry out geological mapping at a scale of 1:25,000 located in the Battang area, West Wara District, Palopo City, South Sulawesi. Two aspects are the main focus in implementing this research method, namely when mapping by relying on Avenza with a base map sourced from the Rupa Bumi Indonesia (RBI) map and on data management using the ArcGIS application to become a 3D map. Lithological of the study area showed basalt, porphyry basalt, and phyllite. The geological structure that develops in the research area is joint and fault. Avenza Map work with spatial analysis in ArcGIS is obtained cognitively, involving the relationship between individual conditions, tools, and terrain conditions. It can be stated that the use of avenza on smartphones in this modernization condition is more effective. This research allows for a review of the practical level of use of computer methods ranging from mapping to data management. Regarding implementing cognitive mapping, Avenza Map and ArcGIS can be recommended tools in geo-computation techniques as more effective support for recording and managing data while still paying attention to noise that may occur as a barrier to data accuracy.

Abstract

Pulau Sulawesi khususnya Sulawesi Selatan dibeberapa lokasi merupakan daerah yang rumit menentukan susunan batuannya terutama penyusunan urutan stratigrafinya, sehingga penelitian ini diharapkan dapat mengungkap sejarah panjang fenomena geologinya. Riset dilakukan di Wilayah Tondong Tallasa, Pangkajene, Sulawesi Selatan, letak geografis berada pada koordinat 119°40’00” – 119°4’30” BT (Bujur Timur) dan 4°45’00” – 4°47’00” LS (Lintang Selatan). Penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk pemetaan singkapan olistostrom dipermukaan secara detail menggunakan skala 1:2.000. Tujuannya untuk mengetahui karakteristik olistolith dari olistostrome dan menentukan lingkungan tektoniknya, sehingga dapat diperoleh hasil kesimpulan yang baik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan terdiri atas pemetaan traversing dan labo analysis. Berdasarkan hasil analisis geokimia berupa analisis unsur utama menggunakan metode Flouresensi Sinar-X (XRF), maka diperoleh jenis olistolith olistostrome pada daerah penelitian yaitu batuan Granit dan batuan Granodiorit. Susunan batuan tektonik terbentuk pada lingkungan tektonik Continental arc (busur kontinen).

Abstract

The Palopo City West Ring Road is included in the Malili Sheet which is in Salobulo Village, Wara Utara District, South Sulawesi Province with coordinates 2º59'32.10” - 2º58'41.10”S and 120º10'34.51” - 120º10'40 .49” East. This study aims to determine the potential for landslides based on rock characteristics and slope geometry using the exploratory method, namely conducting research directly in the field and laboratory testing. Data acquisition was carried out at 5 observation stations which indicated the potential for landslides to occur. The data obtained are rock characteristic data including, rock type, fresh color and weathered rock color, rock texture and rock structure, as well as sampling, while the slope geometry data collection includes, height and slope of the slope, as well as observing other supporting factors namely, the degree of weathering, the presence of joints, surface runoff and the condition of the land vegetation.The results of data analysis show that the Palopo City West Ring Road has the potential for landslides which are influenced by several causal factors, namely, the steep slope of the slope, dominated by basalt rock which has undergone a weathering process with a high level of weathering at stations 2, 4 and 5 and the level of weathering moderate at stations 1 and 3. In addition, the presence of joints at stations 1 and 2 is a supporting factor for the potential for landslides to occur at the study site.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine and distribute foraminifera in vertical positions using measured stratigraphy. This research aims to analyze the distribution characteristics of foraminifera in the Parepare Tanmailie Pinrang volcanic tuff, South Sulawesi. This research was conducted in the Tanamailie area in Suppa District, Pinrang Regency, South Sulawesi, where the fine-grained Parepare volcanics are well exposed. The method used in this research is field observation. The results of the research show that the analysis and description of fossils found in the measured stratigraphic landscape determined four sequential biozonations, namely from (1) The composition of the bottom layer in the N13 zonation Sphaeroidinellopsis subdevices - Globigerina Drury, (2) The composition of the lower middle layer in the N14-N15 zonation Globigerina nepenthes - Globorotalia (T.) sickness to Globorotalia (T.) continuous, (3) Upper middle layer arrangement zonation N16-N18 Globorotalia (T.) acostaensis acostaensis - Globorotalia (G.) merotumida to Globorotalia (G.) tumi-da plesiotumida – Sphaerodinellopsis subdevices paenedehiscens, (4) Top layer composition of zonation N18-N19 Globorotalia (G.) tumi-da – Sphaerodinellopsis subdevices paenedehiscens to Sphaeroidinella dehiscent dehiscent - Globoquadrina altispira altispira. Analysis of abundant benthic foraminifera. This tough paleoenvironment is characterized by an abundance of Textularis sp and Nodosaria sp, indicating a shallow marine depositional environment.
