Orthodox shot put learning model with wooden shot modification for junior high school students Abstract: This study develops an orthodox shot put learning model through the modification of a wooden shot to enhance students’ motivation and skills. The research was driven by limited learning facilities, particularly the standard shot, which is too heavy for junior high school students. A research and development (R&D) approach was employed, involving needs analysis, initial product development, small-scale trials, revisions, large-scale trials, and final product creation. Data were collected using questionnaires and psychomotor observations, then analyzed descriptively. The small-scale trial scored 66.4% (good category), while the large-scale trial achieved 80.3% (good category). Students reported greater confidence, reduced fear, and increased enthusiasm during learning activities. These findings indicate that wooden shot modification effectively addresses facility limitations and improves the quality of shot put learning. It is concluded that the model is effective and feasible for athletic instruction in junior high schools.
