Abstract

The Community Service Program (PPM) implemented by the Fine Arts Education Study Program of PGRI Adi Buana University Surabaya aims to provide solutions to the problems faced by PKK women in Lambangan Village, Wonoayu, Sidoarjo. The problem identified is the lack of skills in utilizing abundant natural materials, such as leaves and flowers, to produce creative handicraft products. One of the potentials that has not utilized optimally is the processing of these natural materials into eco print crafts. In fact, eco print has a fantastic opportunity to improve people's skills and provide additional economic value to support family income. As a solution, this PPM activity focuses on providing training on eco printing techniques with the steaming method to PKK women. The training conducted in a structured manner in three meetings to ensure that all participants acquired adequate knowledge and skills. The training material includes a basic understanding of eco print, material processing techniques, and firsthand practice of making products. With this approach, it hoped that participants will not only be able to produce eco-print-based artworks but also have the potential to develop handicraft businesses in the future. The results of the activity showed an increase in the ability of participants to process natural materials into handicraft products that have aesthetic and economic value. In addition, this activity succeeded in providing motivation for PKK women to utilize the potential of the surrounding environment more creatively and productively. Thus, this program contributes to the development of community skills, especially in supporting women's empowerment and improving family welfare in Lambangan Village.

It is a qualitative descriptive research whose subjects are teachers and students of grade XII. Data collection techniques are carried out using observation, documentation, and interviews. The data analysis technique used is qualitative descriptive analysis. Based on the results of the research that has been carried out, it can be concluded that learning applied art from used towel materials goes through several stages, namely the learning planning stage, the learning implementation stage, and the learning assessment stage. Applied art can be used for human needs because it can be processed and made into crafts with use and beauty value. Applying art learning from used materials motivates students to develop creativity and learning skills. In the assessment, the weight of students' grades increased by 30% from the very low initial assessment in producing work, creativity, and innovation. The suggestions given include optimizing art infrastructure facilities in schools for hands-on practice. Learning should be focused on functional applied arts projects, and collaboration should be encouraged between students in groups.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the integration of environmental education through painting with natural dyes as a fine art learning strategy that shapes the ecological awareness of students at SMPN 21 Surabaya. A qualitative approach of the case study type to examine in depth the application of the integration of environmental education through painting with natural dyes at SMPN 21 Surabaya. Data was collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, with the main informants being art teachers, principals, and grade VIII students. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman model, while research ethics were maintained through participant consent, confidentiality of identity, and respect for the learning process in schools. The results of the implementation of painting practice with natural dyes at SMPN 21 Surabaya show that this activity has succeeded in instilling the value of environmental concern in students. Students become more creative, reflective, and responsible in using natural resources wisely. There has been a change in positive attitudes, such as maintaining cleanliness, loving nature, and producing environmentally themed artworks. This practice can foster ecological awareness through contextual and fun art learning. Further research suggests that other schools adopt a similar model by adjusting to the local context and the availability of natural resources in the surrounding environment.
