Abstract

The Taburia program is an effort to increase body weight in stunting toddlers. Some mothers do not know about the provision of taburia for stunting toddlers. The problem of stunting growth in toddlers is still common, especially in coastal communities, mothers do not understand how to meet the nutritional needs of children under five. The purpose of this study was to determine the knowledge, attitudes of mothers in giving taburia to stunting toddlers on body weight at posyandu. The research design used the One Group Pre-post Test Design on giving taburia and the Cross-Sectional Study to measure the knowledge and attitudes of mothers. The sample of the study was 150 mothers with stunting toddlers. The sample technique used simple random sampling. The independent variable of this study is knowledge, the mother's attitude is measured by a structured questionnaire. The dependent variable is measuring body weight using a weight scale. Data were analyzed by using Chi-Square test. The results of this study indicate that there is an effect on changes in body weight in giving taburia for two weeks for 2 months, and there is an influence between mother's knowledge and there is no effect of mother's attitude on body weight in giving taburia to stunting toddlers. The fulfillment of taburia nutrition in stunting toddlers can be optimal if the family is active in looking for the latest information about the provision of taburia and posyandu cadres often conduct socialization on giving taburia to stunting children. Keywords: Taburia, Mother's Knowledge, Mother's Attitude, Body Weight, Stunting

Objectives:  The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between motivation to become a volunteer and knowledge of disaster management in Surabaya. Methods: The research design was analytic observational with cross sectional approach. The sampling technique uses Probability Sampling using simple random sampling. The population of Surabaya volunteers with a sample technique using simple random sampling obtained a sample of 50 respondents. Instrument used a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rho test with a degree of significance ρ≤ 0.05 Results: The results showed that most respondents had high motivation to become volunteers. Most respondents had a good level of knowledge related to disaster management. And obtained a relationship between motivation to become a volunteer and knowledge of disaster management in Surabaya. From the statistical results of the Spearman rho test, it shows the value of r = 0.357 with a value of p = 0.011 Conclusions:  The implication of this research is that high motivation makes it easy for volunteers to learn about disaster management science and vice versa

Abstract

Background: Relaxation techniques and slow deep breathing are known to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, making them an integral non-pharmacological intervention for musculoskeletal pain management. However, evidence regarding the effectiveness of slow deep breathing interventions in reducing muscle pain in adults with myalgia, particularly in primary care settings, is limited. This study aimed to examine the effect of slow deep breathing on reducing muscle pain in adults with myalgia. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental pre-test-post-test control group design following TREND guidelines. Total sampling was used to recruit 36 myalgia patients at the Peneleh Community Health Center, Surabaya, who were divided into an intervention group (n = 18) and a control group (n = 18). Participants aged 17–65 years with pain intensity ≥3 on the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) were included. The intervention group received slow deep breathing exercises for 15 minutes twice daily for five days, while the control group received standard care. Muscle pain intensity measured using the NRS was the outcome variable. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test due to non-normal distribution and the Mann–Whitney U test, with p < 0.05 considered statistically significant. Results: Muscle pain intensity in the intervention group significantly decreased from 4.33 ± 0.84 to 2.50 ± 1.15, showing a mean reduction of 1.83 points (Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, p < 0.001). The control group showed no significant change (from 4.22 ± 0.81 to 4.00 ± 0.80; mean reduction = 0.22; p = 0.102). Posttest comparison demonstrated significantly lower pain intensity in the intervention group than in the control group (mean rank 24.67 vs 12.33; Mann–Whitney U = 51.0, p < 0.001). Conclusion: Slow deep breathing for five days significantly reduced muscle pain intensity in patients with myalgia compared to standard care, suggesting it is an effective non-pharmacological intervention for pain management in primary care settings.
