Abstract

Teaching English needs various media and methods to make the studentsenthusiastic in teaching and learning process. A lot of media are employed inteaching and learning process. One of media used in teaching grammar especiallytenses is comic strips. Comic strips tell a story in form of pictures series and textstructures or dialogue. This article aims to find out the effect of using Englishcomic strips as media in teaching simple past tense. A quasi experimental designis used in this study to identify the causal impact of an intervention on targetpopulation without random assignment when the treatments were given. Thesubjects of this study were the seventh grade students of junior high school.The finding of t-test obtained was 3.865 which were higher than t-table 2.08.It means that the comic strips are effective for teaching simple past tense. Thecomic strips can be used in teaching other aspects such as storytelling, anothertense, writing and so forth, and also it can be collaborated with the students’learning style.

Abstract

Pintu air adalah komponen penting dalam sistem pengelolaan sumber daya air, terutama untuk pengaturan aliran air di saluran irigasi, waduk, dan bendungan. Penggunaan teknologi otomatisasi dalam pengoperasian pintu air dapat meningkatkan efisiensi dan akurasi dalam pengelolaan air. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang dan mengembangkan pintu air otomatis berbasis kontroler logika fuzzy Mamdani. Sistem ini menggunakan sensor untuk mendeteksi level air dan mengirimkan data tersebut ke kontroler logika fuzzy yang akan memproses informasi tersebut untuk menentukan posisi buka/tutup pintu air secara otomatis. Dengan menggunakan metode Mamdani, sistem ini diharapkan mampu mengatasi ketidakpastian dalam pengukuran dan pengambilan keputusan, sehingga menghasilkan pengaturan aliran air yang lebih optimal. Pengujian sistem dilakukan melalui simulasi dan implementasi prototipe pada skala kecil. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa sistem pintu air otomatis ini dapat beroperasi dengan akurat dan responsif terhadap perubahan level air, sehingga meningkatkan efisiensi dalam pengelolaan air.

Abstract

Vocabulary mastery is a fundamental aspect in English language learning. However, vocabulary learning is often boring and less interactive, so students have difficulty remembering and understanding new words. Digital learning applications such as flashcards offer an innovative solution to overcome this obstacle by having interactive features that can improve students' memory and learning interest. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of using digital flashcard applications as a pedagogical medium for teaching English vocabulary. Although some findings state that flashcards are effective in improving vocabulary in learning activities, a systematic review of the existing literature is needed to assess the extent to which digital flashcard applications have an impact on vocabulary learning both in terms of improving learning outcomes, learning motivation, and other aspects related to pedagogy. This study uses the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method by reviewing several journals discussing the research topic. The results of the study indicate that digital flashcards as a learning media strategy can be said to be effective in improving students' vocabulary mastery ranging from elementary school, MTs, vocational high schools, to undergraduate students, which in this case can enrich vocabulary; easy, easy to recognize images, words, and meanings; Students are more active, focused, and enthusiastic when learning English; improve receptive and productive aspects in vocabulary knowledge; remembering material easily; and increasing students' learning motivation.
