Abstract

Abstract: The objective of this study is to know the use of Project-Based Learning to improve the students’ speaking skill at the students of third semester of Abulyatama University. The study was quantitative approach which used pre-experimental research. This study only took eight students as sample of the research by using purposive sampling technique. The sample was divided into two groups, namely Group A and Group B. The instruments used in this study were pre-test and post-test. The result of the study showed that the use of Project-Based Learning can improve students’ speaking skill. It can be proven by the t-test result and the students’ scores on pre-test and post-test. It can be seen based on the mean in pre-test of the Group A was 62.5 and mean in post-test was 90. While the mean in pre-test of Group B was 50 and mean in post-test were 65. Based on the result of the computation of statistical hypothesis test, the students’ speaking score can be calculated by using t-test with significance α = 0.05. It indicated that the difference was significant because the t-test result was higher than the t-table (3.81 > 2.92). The students’ scores based on the Group A result was indeed better than their scores in Group B which indicates that the treatment contributes the students’ speaking skill as seen from the scores difference. In other words, it can be concluded that the Project-Based Learning was able to improve students’ speaking skill. The project provides opportunity to the students to become more creative and engaged in the interaction. The Project-Based Learning can be promoted by the teacher as a teaching method to English speaking skill.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the impact of the Think-Pair-Share strategy on students' speaking skill. The research method employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. Pre-test and post-test were used as instruments in this study to measure the development of students' speaking abilities. The sample size for both the controlled and experimental classes consisted of 25 students. The results of this research depict significant findings. The consistent use of the Think-Pair-Share strategy led to a meaningful improvement in the speaking abilities of the tenth-grade students at MAS Dayah Darul Ihsan. During the research period, students showed a noticeable enhancement in their ability to communicate more confidently and effectively. This is evidenced by the final scores in the experimental class, which were 72.92, while the controlled class scored 56.88. Therefore, it can be concluded that by providing opportunities for students to interact, discuss, and share ideas, the use of this strategy not only enhances their speaking abilities but also boosts their self-confidence in communication. Thus, the Think Pair Share strategy holds great potential for improving students' speaking abilities in various educational settings.

Abstract

The purposes of this study are to determine the improvement and perception of students about the use of the Duolingo application as an English learning tool. This research uses quantitative method. The sample of this study was 22 students in IPAS-3 class of the academic year 2023/2024. Data was obtained through the collection of test results and distribution of questionnaires. The test contains one topic about "family", while the questionnaire contains 10 closed questions. Based on data analysis of test, students' vocabulary skills in speaking have improved. Before the treatment, students' vocabulary ability in speaking had an average score 36.82, while after the treatment, students' vocabulary ability in speaking improved as much as 65,45. In addition, based on the questionnaire data, it was revealed that there are 4 very high categories, namely Duolingo is easy to use for beginners (83%), animated displays on Duolingo can attract attention (83%), students are excited to learn English through the Duolingo application (83%), and this application can help students learn English (85.2%). It is suggested that teachers can use Duolingo aplication in the teaching of vocabulary for speaking purposes.

Abstract

Learning media plays an important in learning. Through interactive learning media, students can achieve a deeper understanding of the material.. Matematics Education students know that they will kmprove their skills in creating learning media to improve the quality of learning and they request training in creating learning media.there are several application that can be utilised, including Canva. Canva has many menu services to create interactive learning materials. Therefore this service aims to provide learning media. SThe working method is a training method where participants practice directly on Canva. The result of this activity is that students can design interactive learning media using Canva. Abstract

This study portrays students' perceptions of using Instagram as a medium for creative writing. Furthermore, this study also aims to explore in-depth interactions that occur on Instagram as a medium for creative writing. The research method applied was a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative research methods. Data was collected through the distribution of questionnaires and interviews. The questionnaire issued 15 closed-ended questions, while the interviews comprised 5 semi-structured interviews. The sample for this research consisted of a mix of sixth-semester and fourth-semester students, including 10 students from the sixth semester and 5 students from the fourth semester, totaling 15 samples from the English Education program for the Academic Year 2024. Based on the data analysis of the questionnaire, it was revealed that students had a very positive perception and good attitude toward using Instagram as a medium for creative writing. Additionally, the interview data showed that the interactions occurring on Instagram had beneficial effects and were perceived positively by the students. Particularly, it was depicted that creative writing on Instagram enhances students' motivation, enthusiasm, and self-confidence in writing creatively. It, additionally, helps them expand their ideas into coherent pieces of writing. By engaging in creative writing on Instagram, students could observe the development of their writing skills over time. Therefore, this study's results indicated using Instagram as a medium for creative writing. It is an effective way to enhance writing skills and foster students’ motivation and self-confidence.
