The result of the study showed that the use of Project-Based Learning can improve students’ speaking skill. It can be proven by the t-test result and the students’ scores on pre-test and post-test. It can be seen based on the mean in pre-test of the Group A was 62.5 and mean in post-test was 90. While the mean in pre-test of Group B was 50 and mean in post-test were 65. Based on the result of the computation of statistical hypothesis test, the students’ speaking score can be calculated by using t-test with significance α = 0.05. It indicated that the difference was significant because the t-test result was higher than the t-table (3.81 > 2.92). The students’ scores based on the Group A result was indeed better than their scores in Group B which indicates that the treatment contributes the students’ speaking skill as seen from the scores difference. In other words, it can be concluded that the Project-Based Learning was able to improve students’ speaking skill. Abstract

This study aims to improve students’ vocabulary mastery in English learning using the Jazz Chants technique. This study uses pre-experimental research with quantitative methods. There were 35 students from fifth grade of MIN 09 Banda Aceh who were involved as respondents in this study. This study used pre-test and post-test research instrument. The test consisted of 10 questions in which the students had to recognize the vocabulary about body parts. The data then was analyzed using SPSS 22 version. The findings show that the use of Jazz Chants technique is significantly improving students’ understanding of vocabulary mastery. This is because students learn and practice to recognize the body parts vocabulary using Jazz Chants technique. It is evidenced by the average pretest score of writing vocabulary before treatment, namely 55.14, while the average score after being given treatment are 92.29. The paired T test shows that the t value obtained is -37.142 with a p value of 0.000. This means that there is significant increase in students’ vocabulary mastery after using the Jazz Chants technique. Thus, it is recommended for English teachers to use Jazz Chants technique in teaching vocabulary to students

Abstract

Communication skills are critical in multiple aspects of life.   However, many students experience difficulties developing their speaking ability. Therefore, Project Based Learning (PjBL) through showtime project work, plays a vital role in improving students' speaking skills. This study investigated the effect of PjBL through showtime project work on enhancing EFL learners' speaking skills. A quantitative approach with a true experimental design, employing tests and questionnaires as data collection instruments. Seventy students in a senior high school in Banda Aceh were involved as participants, each consisting of 35 students in experimental and control classes. The data were analyzed using inferential statistical analysis. The average posttest score showed a significance level (Sig 2-tailed) of 0.000, which is less than 0.05. Therefore, the alternative hypothesis was accepted. The research result indicated that the students who were taught using PjBL through showtime project work showed improvement in their speaking abilities. The questionnaire findings indicated that over 80% of respondents expressed favorable perceptions regarding the implementation of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) through Showtime Project Work. This method not only enhances language proficiency but also develops critical thinking, facilitates creative expression, and strengthens collaborative competencies among learners.
