Abstract

The understanding of demographic trends, particularly in terms of population dependency ratios, is crucial for formulating responsive and sustainable policy. This research employs a descriptive quantitative method using data from the number of inhabitants based on age in Jawa Timur from 2015 to 2022, projected to 2023 to 2030. The data analysis is performed using arithmetic and geometric methods. According to the arithmetic population projection method, the relative increase in population remains constant each year. On the other hand, the geometric method, which is the second method, assumes that population growth will increase geometrically using a compound interest formula. However, both population projection methods result in decreasing dependency ratios each year. Using the arithmetic method, the increase in the working-age population remains stable. In contrast, the geometric method indicates an increase in the working-age population each year, resulting in a higher annual growth rate. For non-productive age groups, both methods are classified as low growth rates, as the results are less than 1%. This projection provides a foundation for understanding demographic trends that are essential for policy planning and development in the future.

Abstract

Abstract:  The importance of peat ecosystems in maintaining environmental sustainability and the threats faced due to deforestation, land degradation and peat fires. Education is considered an effective solution to overcome this problem by instilling environmental knowledge and attitudes from an early age. This research aims to analyze the need for a peat environmental learning module based on local wisdom in increasing knowledge and attitudes towards caring for the peat environment in the Geography Education Study Program at Tanjungpura University. The research method used is Research and Development with a 4D development model. The main focus of this research is on definition, which includes beginning-to-end analysis, student analysis, concept analysis, task analysis, and formulation of learning objectives. The research results show that students' knowledge of the peat environment tends to be sufficient and their caring attitude tends to be high, but there is still room for improvement. Concept and task analysis resulted in a module design that includes material about peat ecosystems, the problems and challenges faced, and preservation and conservation efforts by integrating local wisdom. By developing learning modules that are relevant and appropriate to the context, it is hoped that students will gain a deep understanding of the importance of peat ecosystems and be inspired to implement local wisdom values in their daily lives. The goal is to create a more aware and responsible generation for the environment.

Abstract

The village of Rasau Jaya Dua is primarily composed of peatlands, and since most of its residents are farmers, much of their agricultural activities take place on these lands. The practice of burning peatlands for farming purposes raises the risk of forest and land fires. Additionally, careless actions like burning waste or improperly discarding cigarette butts on peatlands can also trigger fires. For this reason, researchers must evaluate the community’s level of emergency response planning as part of their disaster preparedness efforts. This study uses descriptive quantitative research with a questionnaire as the main data collection method. A total of 44 people participated in the study. The results revealed that the Rasau Jaya Dua Village community has emergency response plans for forest and land fires, with 48% having a high-level plan, 6% moderate, and 25% low. The community also has fire suppression tools and basic supplies such as clean water, first aid kits, and masks.
