Abstract

This paper is based on research results conducted on first-time voters in the City of Makassar, South Sulawesi, in 2020. This paper aims to show the parent’s roles in the process of first-time voters forming initial political preferences, especially the ethics in political behavior within the widespread of social media as important information, including political information today. It affects the information for first-time voters’ political preferences formation, which at the same time has the potential to influence their understanding of ethics in politics. The fact is that social media is an open-source system where the information presented often provides bad and good information that cannot be detected earlier has made first-time voters potentially affected. It raises concerns about the potential negative effect of their behavior under the political ethics term. The unavailability of an early warning detection system on social media and the inexperience of first-time voters in receiving information wisely makes them vulnerable to receiving erroneous information. Therefore, the presence of parents is one of the hopes for this situation, including establishing moral and ethical understanding related to political behavior as an essential part of maintaining the sustainability of democracy in Indonesia.

Abstract

This paper aims to show the potential sustainability of the Waste Power Plant (PLTSa) policy implementation in Surabaya City. PLTSa is a central government program designed to increase waste processing into renewable energy. Surabaya City is one of 12 cities that have been targeted in the design of PLTSa. However, each targeted city has different urban characteristics so that Surabaya City needs a more in-depth study regarding the implementation of PLTSa and can be a parameter for other cities in implementing PLTSa programs in each region. Several aspects of the policy review study should be conducted by the city government to determine the extent to which Surabaya City can implement the program, including economic, and environmental aspects. Based on the literature review research conducted, Surabaya City can potentially implement the sustainability of PLTSa development if it fulfills the economic and environmental aspects of the study. The economic aspect looks at the extent to which the PLTSa budget can help with local revenue costs. And the environmental aspect looks at the extent to which the PLTSa program is able to minimize existing environmental damage.

Abstract

This research explores the political behavior and political participation of the Rajuni Village community in Takabonerate Sub-district, Selayar Islands Regency, South Sulawesi, in the context of the 2020 Regional Head Election. Using a qualitative approach and a case study design, this research explores the factors that influence political choices and the level of community participation in 3T (Disadvantaged, Frontier and Outermost) areas. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with Rajuni villagers, community leaders, village officials, and representatives of non-governmental organizations. Data analysis included three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the political choices of the Rajuni Island community were influenced by money politics, political awareness, and mobilization by local figures. The Bugis tribe is more likely to be influenced by money politics with a Rational Choice approach. Political awareness is also important, where voters consider the vision, mission and programs of candidates that are relevant to their needs. Mobilization by economically influential local figures also influences political choices. The level of political participation of the Rajuni Island community is quite high, reaching 70% in the 2018 Governor Election and the 2020 Selayar Islands Regency Regent Election. This research provides insights into political behavior and community participation in an archipelago with significant geographic and social challenges.

Abstract

Policy implementation is the most crucial stage of the policy process because, at this stage, benefits will be obtained from previously defined concepts. Regarding the policy for the construction of the Salutambung-Aralle axis, the steps taken were to compare the implementation of the policies of the Governor of West Sulawesi in each period so that the efforts and obstacles of each Governor were found in that period. The research method used is a qualitative approach with a descriptive analysis type. The study results show that during the reign of Anwar Adnan Saleh, efforts to increase the construction of the road got an excellent basis after changing its status from a district road to a provincial strategic highway. Meanwhile, during the administration of the Governor of ABM, policy planning was quite good. Still, it did not have a strong commitment at the implementation stage, as evidenced by various obstacles, including passing incompetent contractors and a lack of communication involving the community.

This paper focuses on the Comparison of Verification of Election Contestants in 2019 and 2024. In addition, this paper describes the problems that arise during the verification process. In this study, the author uses a qualitative method. The data used in the study consisted of primary and secondary data. The data collection method in this study used the Literature Study Technique. The author uses scientific papers such as journals, theses, and state documents in collecting data. The data collected by the author is then processed according to the needs of the analysis carried out. The results of the research show that the basic difference regarding the verification process for election participants in 2019 and 2024 is that there is no factual verification for Parliamentary parties participating in the 2024 election. The most basic problem of any verification carried out is the membership of political parties that still have members' names. The impact of such profiteering is the rights of the community that can cause harm, especially for job seekers because of the provisions of not being involved as administrators and/or members of political parties. It is necessary to carry out factual verification of management, office domicile and verification of membership without distinguishing between small and large parties in a proportional and fair manner. With integrity in the verification of political parties, it will produce public officials from credible and qualified political parties.

Abstract

The role of shamans in the 2019 local elections is the focus of this study. In addition, the issue of the shaman's position in village elections is discussed in this paper. This study uses a qualitative method. This study relies on primary and secondary data for its findings. The Library Research method was used for data collection purposes in this study. The writer collects information from scientific writings, such as thesis diaries and documents. The author processes the information he collects according to the requirements of the analysis. The research findings show that residents still believe a certain kind of shaman exists. This kind of shaman is used to illustrate when village head elections are held. In regional head elections, especially village head elections, village head candidates develop a belief system to shape social and political attitudes. Whereas shamans rely on mystical reasoning as the foundation of their abilities and take advantage of the mystical devices they have, shamans are used as a guide to progress, what percentage of victory is desired and as a political network for electing village heads and instilling influence over residents so that they get the mass support that shamans have for their political goals.

Abstract

This article aims to examine crisis management in the villages of Sigi Regency, Indonesia, with a focus on government policy interventions and grassroots mobilization in overcoming the post-COVID-19 crisis. This article uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, where data collection is carried out using interview and observation techniques. This article highlights the crisis management policy scheme in Sigi, which tends to be centralistic with more dominance by central government policies. However, grassroots social movements have emerged as an alternative to mitigating the post-pandemic crisis. We argue that the political participation of communities and voluntary movements has significant social resilience implications. Therefore, policy interventions involving grassroots communities have proven effective in crisis management. This study contributes to seeing citizen mobilization and participation as a form of alternative social resilience and offers insights into the importance of collaboration between government policy and community activism in dealing with crises in rural Indonesia.
