Abstract

This paper focuses on the Comparison of Verification of Election Contestants in 2019 and 2024. In addition, this paper describes the problems that arise during the verification process. In this study, the author uses a qualitative method. The data used in the study consisted of primary and secondary data. The data collection method in this study used the Literature Study Technique. The author uses scientific papers such as journals, theses, and state documents in collecting data. The data collected by the author is then processed according to the needs of the analysis carried out. The results of the research show that the basic difference regarding the verification process for election participants in 2019 and 2024 is that there is no factual verification for Parliamentary parties participating in the 2024 election. The most basic problem of any verification carried out is the membership of political parties that still have members' names. The impact of such profiteering is the rights of the community that can cause harm, especially for job seekers because of the provisions of not being involved as administrators and/or members of political parties. It is necessary to carry out factual verification of management, office domicile and verification of membership without distinguishing between small and large parties in a proportional and fair manner. With integrity in the verification of political parties, it will produce public officials from credible and qualified political parties.

Abstract

Identity politics in democracy continues to be a topic of discussion, particularly regarding issues related to gender, religion, language, race, and ethnicity. These factors are often studied in the context of political identity during election periods, such as during the 2020 election in the city of Makassar. , Fatmawati Rusdi is the only female contestant in the Makassar City Election and makes history for women in the government seat for the next five years. The purpose is to describe how gender identity politics became a strategy for winning the 2020 regional elections in Makassar City. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive research method with a literature study and observation approach. The research results explain the gender identity politics in the Makassar City election, where Fatmawati Rusdi became the first female deputy mayor in Makassar City, the only woman to compete in the Makassar City election, Fatmawati Rusdi applied direct communication (door-to-door) with the community instead of image building in the media. Conclusion from this research, the involvement of women in local elections happened almost throughout Indonesia, especially in the city of Makassar, starting with the 2020 local elections where a woman was elected as the Deputy Mayor of Makassar. Abstract

The role of shamans in the 2019 local elections is the focus of this study. In addition, the issue of the shaman's position in village elections is discussed in this paper. This study uses a qualitative method. This study relies on primary and secondary data for its findings. The Library Research method was used for data collection purposes in this study. The writer collects information from scientific writings, such as thesis diaries and documents. The author processes the information he collects according to the requirements of the analysis. The research findings show that residents still believe a certain kind of shaman exists. This kind of shaman is used to illustrate when village head elections are held. In regional head elections, especially village head elections, village head candidates develop a belief system to shape social and political attitudes. Whereas shamans rely on mystical reasoning as the foundation of their abilities and take advantage of the mystical devices they have, shamans are used as a guide to progress, what percentage of victory is desired and as a political network for electing village heads and instilling influence over residents so that they get the mass support that shamans have for their political goals.

Abstract

The verification stage is the process of checking the completeness and validity of the registered political party documents. This stage has been carried out by the KPU since July 2022 and will continue until December 2022. In this verification process, it is necessary to evaluate the implementation of existing regulations in order to realize better election governance in Indonesia. The research to be carried out is a qualitative field research. The results of the study indicate that there are still several obstacles in carrying out the verification of eligible participants. First, the use of the SIPOL application in the registration process still often results in errors that slow down the ongoing registration process. Second, there is a stigma that election organizers are unfair because they provide more space for parliamentary parties. Third, the same violations still occurred in the previous election, namely violations in cases of profiteering people's names as members or administrators of political parties.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the dynamics of transformation within the Gandangbatu Sillanan community in Tana Toraja Regency, tracing their shift from an administrative entity toward recognition as an indigenous territory. The main issue focuses on how colonial structures of power that placed Gandangbatu Sillanan under the Mengkendek District shaped the state’s way of seeing and governing indigenous domains, as well as how local communities responded through strategies of resistance and negotiation. This research employs a qualitative method, using data collection techniques through interviews and document studies, analyzed within the theoretical framework of political anthropology as proposed by James C. Scott. The findings reveal that the establishment of the Gandangbatu Sillanan District in 2007 represents a form of resistance successfully institutionalized through the bureaucratic channels of the state. This action reflects the indigenous community’s effort to rearticulate local identity and sovereignty within the framework of modern state law. In conclusion, the struggle of the Gandangbatu Sillanan community exemplifies the practice of everyday resistance within the context of Seeing Like a State, where local actors employ state instruments to reaffirm their existence and indigenous autonomy.
