Abstract

The utilization of herbal products has gained popularity due to their perceived safety compared to synthetic drugs. However, a lack of education on the safety and analytical methods of herbal products remains a significant challenge for communities. This program aims to enhance the awareness and skills of Candirejo Village residents in ensuring the safety of herbal products through biological and chemical analysis training. Methods such as Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) and UV-Vis spectrophotometry were introduced to participants to detect active compounds and hazardous substances. The results indicate increased understanding of herbal product safety, practical skills in simple analysis, and local economic empowerment through the development of safe herbal products. The program is expected to be sustainable with the establishment of community-based working groups, contributing to the supervision and innovation of herbal products at the local level. Through educational and hands-on approaches, this initiative positively impacts health, the economy, and community awareness regarding the safety of herbal products.

Abstract

Mernurut World Heralth Organization (WHO) Limbah cair tahu merngandung zat organik yang mernyerbabkan persatnya perrtumbuhan mikroba dalam air.

Abstract

Liquid waste from tofu industries contains high levels of organic matter, as indicated by COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) and BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) values that exceed environmental quality standards. This can lead to water pollution and harm aquatic ecosystems. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of water lettuce (Pistia stratiotes L.) in reducing COD and BOD levels in tofu industry wastewater through the phytoremediation method. The research was conducted using a post-test only experimental design. The Treatments were applied by placing 500 grams of water lettuce into the wastewater for durations of 3, 6, and 9 days. The results showed that COD levels decreased from 784 mg/L to 132 mg/L on the 9th day (a reduction of 83.16%), and BOD levels decreased from 272 mg/L to 41 mg/L (a reduction of 84.92%). The findings indicate that water lettuce is effective in lowering COD and BOD levels, and the duration of exposure significantly affects the level of effectiveness. Phytoremediation using water lettuce can be a simple, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective alternative for treating liquid waste, especially in small-scale or household tofu industries.

Abstract

Tuberculosis can cause a substantial challenge to public health, especially in developing countries. The objective of this research is to determine the effect of intervention of SM-CD on the control of TB transmission in one treatment period (6 months) of TB. This Research using the quasi-experimental post-test only with control group design. The analytical unit consisted of 96 TB cases from two primary health centers as the SM-CD and 87 TB cases as the control group from two different primary health centers. The results of analysis after adjustment found that behavior of controlled taking medicine (ARR= 1.44; 95%CI: 1.22-1.70), controlled environment (ARR= 3.59; 95% CI: 2.18-5.90), and controlled droplet nuclei (ARR=4.04; 95%CI: 2.53-6.45) were found to be significantly higher in the SM-CD than the control group. The treatment outcome showed that recovery (ARR=1.95; 95%CI: 1.44-2.65), completeness (ARR= 1.65; 95%CI: 1.32-1.85), undrop out (ARR=1.25; 95%CI: 1.13-1.38), and cases no failed (ARR=1.43; 95%CI:1.24-1.65) was found to be significantly higher in the SM-CD was compared with the control group. The SM-CD intervention was effective in increasing the behavior of TB transmission control, treatment outcomes, and effective as a data collection tool that can be used to improve the surveillance system for TB transmission control.
