The trade relationship between Indonesia and ASEAN countries in plantation products exhibits fluctuations in export and import activities. This study aims to identify the factors influencing Indonesia’s Plantation Commodities Trade Flows with ASEAN countries. The research utilizes secondary data from eight ASEAN countries-Indonesia, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, and the Philippines-over a 15-year period (2008–2022). A panel data regression analysis, based on the Gravity Model, was conducted to achieve the research objectives. The variables examined include Indonesia’s Plantation Commodities Trade Flows, Indonesia's GDP, partner countries' GDP, exchange rates, economic distance, population, and inflation. The analysis revealed that fluctuations in Indonesia’s Plantation Commodities Trade Flows are driven by variations in export and import values. The regression results identified Indonesia's GDP, partner countries' GDP, economic distance, and exchange rates as significant factors affecting trade flows, while population and inflation had no significant impact.

The purpose of this study was to analyse the competitiveness of Indonesian cigars and the dynamics of the competitiveness position as a world exporter and competitor country. Dominican Republic, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Spain and Hungary were observed as competitor countries. The analysis was conducted over a 12-year time span with HS code 240210. The analytical methods to answer the research objectives are Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) and Revealed Symmetric Comparative Advantage (RSCA) to identify the level of comparative competitiveness of Indonesian cigars and Export Dynamic Product (EPD) to analyse the competitive competitiveness position of Indonesian cigars. The research results obtained that Indonesian cigar exports have a comparative advantage with an increasing competitiveness trend value, but have decreased in the last two years. The position of Indonesian cigar competitiveness has a retreat position in the first period and becomes a falling star in the second period. Abstract

Curcuma is frequently employed as an appetite enhancer and for medicinal purposes. In addition to being consumed domestically, Indonesian curcuma is also exported to the global market. This research identifies the manner in which Indonesian curcuma competes in the worldwide market, taking into account the fact that it also competes with curcuma from various other countries. The market position of Indonesian curcuma is identified using the Almost Ideal Demand System (AIDS) method. The comparator countries selected for this study are five curcuma exporters, namely India, the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, and the USA. The analysis utilised time series data from January 2013 to December 2022, and the identification results of this study indicate that Indonesian curcuma is a normal good with elastic and responsive properties to the global demand for curcuma. Furthermore, it is observed that Indonesian curcuma substitutes or replaces Indian curcuma. Conversely, Dutch, German, Spanish, and USA curcuma exhibit a complementary relationship with Indonesian curcuma. To enhance the competitiveness of Indonesian curcuma in the global market, it is imperative to augment the volume and quality of exports, with a particular focus on standardisation and enhancing the added value through processing. This strategic approach is expected to not only ensure price competitiveness with other exporters but also to expand the share of Indonesian curcuma exports in the global market.
