Abstract

This paper presents a theoretical investigation of solar air heater using phase change material (PCM). PCM used in present configuration is homogenous mixture of paraffin wax with Aluminium powder. The purpose of using Aluminium powder with paraffin wax is to increase the thermal conductivity. PCM mixtures are encapsulated in cylinders and are used as solar absorbers. Using MATLAB program, the effect of different parameters is studied. It has been observed that with increase in mass flow rate, air outlet temperature decreases and freezing time of cylinder decreases. However, at constant mass flow rate, with increase in cylinder radius, air temperature decreases and while freezing time increase sharply. The different parameters have to be chosen such that performance of solar air heater can be optimized.

Abstract

The air is full of pessimism. The impact of Covid-19 has been anticipated as more awful than the Great Depression of 1930. Consistently analysts and agency reports are plunging into new bottoms of a tumbledown in economic activities. Indian economy, however, has a somewhat slightly different story to tell at this hour of crisis. The silver lining for the Indian economy originates from a lofty fall in crude oil costs from around $70 per barrel to a record multi-year low of $22 per barrel. They have ascended to levels of around $40 per barrel over the most recent months. This benefit increases can somewhat balance the immediate misfortunes due to Covid-19. Simultaneously, dreams like a $5 trillion economy no longer look even a distant chance. This article checks out the possible effect of Covid-19 on Indian economic development through a survey of 400 professionals the nation over.

Abstract

Sales promotion in international marketing is somewhat different from domestic markets for a few reasons. Adequate information may not be available with the exporter to make sales promotion decisions. At the same time, customers from the foreign markets may not know the exporter and his products well. Further, the exporter might face resource constraints while executing sales promotion plans in the international markets. Thus, sales promotion in global marketing is a different ball game and requires an understanding of issues that impact the sales promotion plans in the international markets. In this paper, we enlist some such areas which need to be considered by exporters while working out their sales promotion strategies for the export markets. This has been done by way of a survey of 120 exporters. Ten critical factors have been identified that have a bearing on the sales promotion efforts of international marketing.

Abstract

Organisations spend substantial amounts on sales promotion of goods and services. They ought to know the effectiveness of the sales promotion activities. To evaluate this effectiveness, different metrics are used. These include profits, return on investment, sales volume, pull-forward, halo, cannibalisation, engagement of old customers, customer satisfaction, and others. Easier said than done, evaluating the effectiveness of sales promotion activities can be a complicated task in practice, especially if there are multiple products involved. Allocation of revenue and costs over products and periods can be complex. There might be expected costs, and the division of such expenses can pose problems. A suitable basis needs to be developed for the allocation. In this paper, we present the practical difficulties involved in evaluating the effectiveness of sales promotion activities based on a survey of 110 marketing managers working in large MNCs from Pune. Findings suggest that multiple issues crop up in the actual evaluation, and at times, some approximation goes into the exercise of assessment.

Abstract

This article explores the challenges and trends in human resource management across the retail sector in India. The focus is on how retailers are coming to terms with wider recruitment patterns and skills sets, and how they are adapting their HR policies to suit these changes. The article also considers what this means for hiring managers in the future. Some of the challenges that Indian retailers face include finding people with experience in all of their stores; dealing with labour shortages when employees retire or become ill; attracting skilled staff, who have been displaced by automation, to work in retail; retaining staff by providing better opportunities for them to progress through training or promotion within a company; and retaining older workers so they do not leave at an age which is too early. It is argued that the retail sector has to recognize that a key function of HR is being prepared for future changes, in order to survive and flourish.

Abstract

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 underscores the importance of accreditation and introduces the “National Accreditation Council” as its overarching body. The NEP envisions a 15-year phased approach, emphasising graded accreditation and institutional autonomy, aiming for all higher education establishments in India to evolve into self-governing entities focused on innovation and excellence. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has formulated new guidelines, enabling universities and colleges operational for at least one academic year to apply for provisional accreditation. These guidelines intend to widen the scope of accreditation. Unlike the previous requirement that mandated institutions to be at least six years old or to have graduated two student cohorts for NAAC application, the new approach led to a limited number of institutions seeking accreditation due to low application rates. This article examines the viewpoints of 400 faculty members from Higher Educational Institutions in Maharashtra on whether the proposed norms will enhance the quality standards of these institutions. The faculty members collectively believe that the anticipated norms are unlikely to improve the existing quality standards of Higher Educational Institutions significantly.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the problem-based learning method (PBL) in improving student learning outcomes in economics subjects at SMA Negeri 15 Palembang. The research method used was a quasi-experimental with a non-equivalent control group design, involving two classes of XI IPS selected as the experimental and control groups. The experimental group received economics learning with the PBL method, while the control group used conventional learning methods. Data were collected through learning outcome tests (pre-test and post-test) and analyzed using paired sample t-tests and independent sample t-tests to determine significant differences in learning outcomes between the two groups. The results showed that there was a significant increase in the learning outcomes of the experimental group compared to the control group. The average post-test score in the experimental group was higher than in the control group, indicating that the PBL method is effective in improving students’ understanding and critical thinking skills in economics material. In addition, observations during learning showed that the PBL method increased students’ active involvement in group discussions and problem-solving processes. This study concludes that the PBL method is an effective approach to improve students’ economic learning outcomes and can be used as an alternative learning method in the school curriculum. Recommendations are given for teachers to receive training to implement PBL optimally, as well as support from the school in providing adequate resources. The implication of this study is that PBL not only improves academic learning outcomes but also students’ collaborative and independent skills, which are important to face the challenges of 21st-century education.
