Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of cutting speed on several variables, namely the final dimensions of the cutting results, time efficiency, and surface roughness using CNC Plasma Arc Cutting. This study used an experimental method on cutting AH36 steel with a thickness of 11 mm with a cutting speed of 3000 mm/min, 4000 mm/min, 5000 mm/min. Surface roughness testing was carried out using a visual test. The results showed that the lower the cutting speed, the less accurate the final dimensions were due to the long cutting flame hitting the material and vice versa. The greater the cutting speed, the faster the cutting is done. . The higher the cutting speed, the rougher and untidy the surface roughness. The lowest accuracy value is 3 mm x 3 mm with a cutting speed of 3000 mm/min, while the highest accuracy is 3 mm x 1.5 mm with a cutting speed of 5000 mm/min. The most efficient cutting speed is using a speed of 5000 mm/min with a completion time of 9.12 seconds.

Abstract

Currently metal joining (welding) is widely needed in the world of fabrication, mining and shipping construction. Good welding has a guiding procedure in the form of WPS. WPS has several parameters that determine heat input. This research was conducted to determine the compatibility between the parameters in the procedures used and the actual parameters used in the field. The research was carried out on 3 samples that had the same dimensions, namely a diameter of 4" with a thickness of 6.02 mm. The three samples were welded by three different welders with the same qualifications. The research results found that the actual parameters used were not too far from those stated in the WPS. The welds are then checked visually and then continued with the NDT process in the form of RT & PMI. This is done to determine the condition of the inside of the weld and its chemical composition after the welding process

Abstract

Padeye is an object shaped semicircle that made of metal and welded to a profile. The top priority in lifting process is the safety of the structure to be lifted. The structure must not suffer damage or overstress during the lifting process. This causes in mendesai padeye must bethrough careful calculation so that the resulting design is in accordance with the load to be lifted that will be lifted. This research uses a quantitative method by using design calculations and loading on the padeye design. The results research shows that the padeye design for a 100-ton load plan with dimensions Length 360mm, Width 260 and Height 400mm has a stress below the allowable stress so it is safe to use so it is safe to use.

Abstract

Welding using the Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) method is one of the popular welding techniques in the manufacturing and construction industries. Even though SAW has advantages in high productivity and welding quality, it still faces challenges related to porosity defects that can arise during the welding process. Porosity defects are one of the serious problems that can reduce the strength, ductility, and corrosion resistance of welded joints. In this study, analysis of porosity defects in SAW welding was carried out. First, a literature study was carried out to understand the factors that influence the formation of porosity during SAW welding. These factors include the nature of the base material, the setting of welding parameters, the composition of the shielding gas, and the condition of the base metal surface. The results of this study indicate that the formation of porosity defects in SAW welding is strongly influenced by the setting of welding parameters and conditions in the field. This study provides better insight into the nature and characteristics of porosity defects in SAW welding, and provides guidance for reducing or avoiding porosity defects through proper control of welding parameters and good surface preparation. By reducing the porosity defect rate in SAW welding, it is hoped that it will increase the reliability and quality of the resulting welded joints, thereby meeting higher industrial standards and structural safety.

Abstract

The Riau archipelago province has quite a large sea area and therefore the development of water transportation technology, namely ships, is a quite promising business field in the ship construction industry in Indonesia. The aim of this research is to calculate the weight of materials and make plans to estimate material needs, where Calculating ship weight and planning ship material estimates using CAD (Computer Aided Design) and Excel applications. It is hoped that from the research results, calculating ship weight and estimating material requirements will be able to achieve efficiency and effectiveness in ship production for the company. The calculation results obtained an estimated material requirement of 987,592 tons in the shipbuilding of 230x80x16 feet barge based on swc.

Abstract

Keselamatan dan Kesehatan Kerja (K3) merupakan aspek yang sangat penting dalam setiap kegiatan industri, termasuk dalam industri perkapalan. Penerapan K3 yang baik tidak hanya melindungi pekerja dari risiko kecelakaan dan penyakit akibat kerja, tetapi juga meningkatkan efisiensi dan produktivitas perusahaan. Dalam konteks perbaikan atau docking kapal, penerapan K3 menjadi lebih krusial mengingat tingginya risiko yang terlibat. Ada pun tujuan dari judul tersebut Menilai Kepatuhan K3: Menilai apakah syarat-syarat K3 menurut UU No 1 Tahun 1970 telah terpenuhi dalam perbaikan docking kapal MT.SC Stephanie XVIII. Evaluasi Pelaksanaan K3: Mengevaluasi pelaksanaan syarat-syarat K3 menurut UU No 1 Tahun 1970 dalam perbaikan docking kapal MT.SC Stephanie XVIII. Perbandingan Penerapan K3: Membandingkan penerapan syarat-syarat K3 dalam perbaikan docking kapal MT.SC Stephanie XVII berdasarkan UU No 1 Tahun 1970. Metode yang digunakan kuantitatif adalah metode mengumpulkan, menafsirkan dan menampilkan data dengan menggunakan angka, tabel, grafik, gambar atau tampilan lainnya untuk memperkuat kedudukan data yang dianalisis.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari 18 syarat Kesehatan dan Keselamatan Kerja (K3) yang dievaluasi selama perbaikan docking kapal MT.SC Stephanie XVIII, hanya 9 syarat yang terpenuhi dan dilaksanakan dengan baik, sementara 9 syarat lainnya tidak terpenuhi dan tidak terlaksana. Secara keseluruhan, tingkat keberhasilan penerapan syarat-syarat K3 mencapai 69,34%, sementara 30,66% syarat masih belum terlaksana. Hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa meskipun sebagian besar syarat K3 telah dipenuhi, masih terdapat banyak aspek yang memerlukan perbaikan dalam penerapan K3 selama proses perbaikan kapal tersebut.

Abstract

Wind farm transportation installation vessel (WTIV) is a vessel specifically designed to install offshore wind turbines. Most are self-elevating jack up rigs. To enable rapid relocation at the wind farm, the power plan is self during the process fabrication block, a cracked weld defect was found visually in one of the butt weld joints. The amount of support resulting from calculating the influence of the load from the crane pedestal is 494 kpa in the deck plate area where cracks were found to be defective and this can influence the occurrence of cracks in the butt joint. Meanwhile, the maximum stress calculation that can be calculated due to the crane pedestal load is σ: 0.370 N/mm2 or σ: 370Mpa on the deck plate. Meanwhile the steps to repair the welding crack so that it doesn’t happen again, what must be done is by adding support under the deck crane pedestal, while is terms of welding repair that is by carrying out welding in accordance with the WPS and welding sequence.

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of reducing and increasing preheat temperature in the welding repair process on API 2W grade 50 carbon steel material using a stick welding process or Shielding metal arc welding (SMAW). A number of test samples were prepared with varying preheat temperatures of 350C, 650C and 950C with the same welding parameters.This test is carried out by applying a non-destructive test (NDT) and hardness test to reduce the effectiveness of reducing and adding preheat temperature to the welding results after the weld repair process. The results of this research can provide useful guidance or references for students, campuses and the industrial world in minimizing the occurrence of weld defects and knowing the hardness value of API 2W grade 50 material after the weld repair process at companies in future projects

Abstract

TMCP (Thermo-Mechanical Control Process) material, also called anisotropic steel, has recently been used frequently for industrial needs in ship construction, onshore and offshore fabrication. Where TMCP material has different characteristics in its wave propagation speed (velocity) in the material between the direction of plate rolling (rolling direction) which is parallel or longitudinal direction and the transverse direction. This causes the refraction angle of wave propagation to change, thus making the appearance of an indication different on the monitor screen when Ultrasonic Testing (UT) is carried out. The methodology used for this study is to use the literature study method and verification of test results. Where in verifying using the manual ultrasonic testing (MUT) procedure in accordance with DNVGL-CG-0051 revision 2015. The expected results in this study are to provide knowledge about the characteristics of TMCP material and its effects on ultrasonic testing. As well as calibration techniques, how to name saved files and ultrasonic testing on TMCP materials, so that there are no errors in interpreting an indication.
