Abstract

Uncontrolled anger has a negative impact on mental health and reduce one's quality of life. Students, in particular, often face academic and social pressures that can trigger these emotions. In Islamic teachings, the hadith provides valuable guidance in managing emotions so as not to harm oneself or others. This study aims to investigate the relationship between anger and mental health from the perspective of the hadith teachings, focusing on students of the Hadith Study Program at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, where data are obtained through in-depth interviews and observations of five students who have a basic understanding of the hadith. The results of the study indicate that the hadith teachings on anger control, if understood and applied consistently, can reduce the negative impacts of these emotions such as stress, anxiety, and depression, and also improve students' mental well-being and social relations. The conclusion of this study underlines the importance of integrating the hadith teachings in character education and the development of emotional literacy among students. The practical implications are that the results of this study can be used as a reference in designing religious-based counseling guidance programs on campus, as well as encouraging the formation of educational policies that support mental health through an Islamic spiritual approach.

Abstract

The Marpege-Pege tradition, a practice of mutual assistance and cooperation in the Pargarutan Village community, South Tapanuli Regency, is a form of local wisdom that still survives amidst the currents of modernization. This research is based on the academic urgency to show how living hadith works within the local cultural realm and contributes to the preservation of customary values that are in harmony with Islam. The research aims to identify Marpege-Pege values that are relevant to Islamic principles, interpret their relationship with the hadith on mutual assistance, brotherhood, and deliberation, and explain the internalization of hadith teachings in the community's social practices. This research was conducted using a qualitative-phenomenological method with participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and field documentation as primary data sources, which were then analyzed by emphasizing the relationship between the hadith text and customary practices. The results show that Marpege-Pege is understood by the community not only as a customary tradition, but also as an implementation of the Prophet's hadith on community solidarity, mutual cooperation in goodness, and mutual assistance in social and religious matters. Collective activities such as housebuilding, weddings, and agricultural management demonstrate the values of togetherness, deliberation, volunteerism, and Islamic brotherhood, which serve as the basis for religious legitimacy for these practices. In conclusion, Marpege-Pege serves as a medium for harmonious integration between custom and Islam, while demonstrating the relevance of living hadith in strengthening social cohesion and providing a conceptual contribution to the study of the relationship between local traditions and Islamic teachings.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to determine the influence of gender on access to contraception among women of childbearing age in the coastal slums of Medan City using multilevel spatial analysis. Methods: The study utilized a modified version of the 2017 Indonesian Demographic and Health Survey questionnaire, incorporating variables related to paternalistic gender influence. 600 respondents were involved, including 255 married men, 255 women, and 90 ward heads. Spatial analysis was conducted on the respondents' locations within the slums of Medan City. Data from the questionnaires were analyzed using the Chi-square test and multilevel linear regression, with a significance level of 0.000 < 0.005. Results: The findings indicate that gender significantly influences access to contraception among women of childbearing age in the coastal slums of Medan City. The analysis revealed that paternalistic gender norms and practices hinder women's access to family planning services. The difficult access to health service facilities and high transportation costs exacerbate this issue, leading to low community participation in family planning programs. Conclusion: Gender plays a crucial role in access to contraception in the coastal slums of Medan City. Efforts to improve family planning participation must address gender norms and provide more accessible and affordable contraceptive services.

Abstract

This article aims to explain the development of learning kalam science, which has become one of the mandatory subjects for all study programs at State Islamic Religious Universities (PTKIN). To understand the new direction of kalam science learning, this research focuses on several formulations, such as the trajectory of kalam science learning, the orientation, and the inclusiveness of kalam science learning at PTKIN. This research uses qualitative research with a case study approach. Data sources consist of lecturers and students involved in learning natural sciences. Observation, interviews and documentation were carried out for data collection. Data analysis with stages of categorization, interpretation and presentation. The findings of this research explain that the learning trajectory of natural sciences at PTKIN has shifted from the IAIN era, which was ideological-subjective, to the UIN period, which was more ideological-objective. Meanwhile, the orientation of learning kalam sciences has also changed from being focused on preaching to scientific development. The new direction of learning natural sciences at PTKIN has demonstrated inclusive learning, characterized by accepting differences and finding common ground and reason among students. This research confirms that the inclusive attitude of learning kalam science has positively impacted creating a harmonious society amidst disagreements.

Abstract

Misogynism is the perspective of men who consider women to be weak, even though women are of the highest rank because women give birth, help their husbands and are also educators for their children. The researcher's aim is to find out what factors make women inferior in the eyes of men, especially in the Aek Nabara emplasmen village. This research method uses a qualitative method with a case study approach, and in this research uses unstructured interviews. And researchers want to know why the people of the Aek Nabara emplasmen village, especially men, consider women inferior or misogynist and why women are considered inferior by men. The results of the research showed that as many as 20 respondents from the Emplasmen Aek Nabara Community did not understand the Misogynist Hadith about Women Are Aurat, because they had never heard of the missogynistic hadith that the researcher explained to the people of Emplasmen Aek Nabara Village. ABSTRAK Misioginis adalah cara pandang laki-laki yang menganggap wanita itu lemah, padahal wanita itu adalah yang paling mulia derajatnya dikarenakan wanita itu melahirkan, membantu suami dan juga pendidik bagi anak-anaknya. Tujuan peneliti adalah ingin mengetahui apa saja faktor yang membuat wanita itu rendah dalam pandangan laki-laki khususnya desa emplasmen Aek Nabara. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus, dan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan wawancara tidak terstruktur. Dan peneliti ingin mengatahui apa sebab wanita dianggap rendah oleh laki-laki. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebanyak 20 orang responden Masyarakat Emplasmen Aek Nabara tidak memahami Hadis Misioginis tentang aurat, wanita yang suka bergaul, menjual harga dirinya, dan tidak cukup dengan satu laki-laki. Hal ini dikarenakan mereka tidak pernah mendengar mengenai hadis misoginis yang peneliti paparkan kepada masyarakat Desa Emplasmen Aek Nabara. Setelah peneliti memaparkan tentang hadis kepada masyarakat di desa emplasmen Aek Nabara, diharapkan masyarakat memahami hadis tentang misoginis yang membuat wanita lemah di mata laki-laki agar menghindari hal-hal yang dianggap rendah oleh laki-laki terhadap wanita.
