Abstract

The application of massanra galung has become a customary practice within the Bellu Village community. However, its execution has been observed to frequently experience certain deviations from the established regulations. This study aims to examine the application of the concept of Rahn within the context of the massanra galung practice in Bellu Village, situated in Salomekko District, Bone Regency. It was also carried out with the aim of exploring and analyzing the Rahn concept through the lens of the four main schools of thought (madhhabs) in Sunni fiqh. This research is empirical research, and it was conducted using both a phenomenological and a comparative approach. To achieve the outlined aim, data were collected from interviews with six people who practiced massanra galung and from several community leaders. The obtained results showed that within the implementation system of massanra galung in Bellu Village, it is customary for the pledgor to approach the pawn receiver to secure a loan, typically offering their rice field as collateral. It is important to acknowledge that the views of the four madhhabs on certain matters differ, specifically when considering the practice of massanra galung. However, these schools of thought all agree that due to the fulfillment of the pillars and conditions required for massanra galung, the practice is considered valid and permissible according to Islamic law. Regarding the pawn transaction, two parties are considered namely the pawn giver (rāhin) and the pawn receiver (murtahin). It was recommended that efforts aimed at reinforcing the practice of massanra galung should prioritize the enhancement of record-keeping protocols to mitigate potential disputes.

Abstract

This article explains Mandar ethnic group’s local wisdom in West Sulawesi, Indonesia. The research used qualitative methods through interviews and literature studies. Research results indicate that religion is vital for Mandarese people because they use it as the main reference in life. One of the local wisdoms believed by Mandarese people is Malaqbiq. It is a result of thought from religion and culture acculturation. It is a concept of attitudes containing values of respect, honor, and mutual respect. These values can be used as a reference for global community to manage and overcome social problems such as intolerance and social inequality. This local wisdom can also be used by the millennial in countering the world problems. In countering the disruption era, the millennial can prepare themselves by knowing and understanding their own capacity and ability, as well as staying grounded in the social reality around them, so that they are not easily swayed by the changes occurred in society. الملخص توضح هذه المقالة الثقافة المحلية لقبيلة ماندار ((Mandar في سولاويسي الغربية، بإندونيسيا، ويستخدم هذا البحث أساليب نوعية من خلال المقابلات وإجراء الدراسات المكتبية، وتشير نتيجة البحث إلى أن الدين مهم جدا لقبيلة ماندار لأنهم يستخدمونه كمرجع رئيسي في حياتهم. ومن أشكال الثقافات المحلية التي يؤمن بها شعب ماندار هو قيمة ملقبيق (Malaqbiq) أو التهذيب. وهذه القيمة هي نتيجة الوحدة الدينية والثقافية، وهي تحتوي على مفاهيم وسلوكيات تشتمل على قيم التقدير والاحترام المتبادل. ويمكن استخدام هذه القيمة كمرجع للمجتمع العالمي لإدارة قضية التعصب وعدم المساواة الاجتماعية والتغلب عليها. وهذه الثقافات المحلية يمكن استخدامها من قبل جيل الألفية في حل مشاكل العالم لمواجهة عصر الاضطرابات، ويمكن لجيل الألفية إعداد أنفسهم من خلال معرفة وفهم تمكنهم وقدراتهم الخاصة، مع الوقوف على الواقع الاجتماعي من حولهم، بحيث لا يتأثرون بسهولة بالتغيرات التي تحدث في المجتمع. الكلمات المفتاحية؛ الفوضى، الثقافة المحلية، ملقبيق، السحر، كالينداقداق (المثل) Abstrak Artikel ini menjelaskan tentang kearifan lokal suku Mandar di Sulawesi Barat, Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif melalui wawancara dan dengan melakukan studi pustaka. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa agama sangat penting bagi suku Mandar karena mereka menggunakannya sebagai acuan utama dalam kehidupan mereka. Salah satu bentuk kearifan lokal yang diyakini oleh masyarakat Mandar adalah adanya nilai Malaqbiq. Nilai ini merupakan hasil akulturasi agama dan budaya. Di dalamnya terkandung konsep dan perilaku yang mengandung nilai-nilai menghargai dan saling menghormati. Nilai ini dapat dijadikan acuan bagi masyarakat global untuk mengelola dan mengatasi isu intoleransi dan ketimpangan sosial. Kearifan lokal inilah yang dapat dimanfaatkan oleh kaum milenial dalam menghadapi permasalahan dunia untuk menghadapi era disrupsi, kaum milenial dapat mempersiapkan diri dengan mengetahui dan memahami kapasitas dan kemampuannya sendiri, dengan tetap berpijak pada realitas sosial di sekitar mereka, sehingga mereka tidak mudah terombang-ambing oleh perubahan yang terjadi di masyarakat. Kata Kunci: Kekacauan; Kearifan Lokal; Malaqbiq; Sihir; Kalindaqdaq/Peribahasa.

Abstract

This article focuses on the concept of hadith text criticism, which is essential to understand when evaluating hadiths. It covers the history, objectives, benefits, and steps involved in the process of text criticism. The method employed is library research using a deductive-inductive analytical approach to assess the quality of a hadith, ensuring its authenticity is undisputed when practiced. The research findings reveal that both sanad (chain of narration) and matan (text) criticism have been in practice since the time of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). This practice was carried out by his companions, the tabi’in, the tabi’-tabi’in, and hadith scholars up to the present day. Text criticism is particularly important to determine whether a hadith's matan is authentic or not. If the matan is found to be unauthentic, the hadith cannot be used as a basis for religious matters.

Abstract

Selayaknya kaum muslimin, Sunnah dimaknai sebagai penjabaran terhadap al-Qur’an yang global. Namun, dalam menetapkan sunnah juga sebagai sumber penetapan suatu hukum menjadi pemicu pemahaman lain terhadap sunnah. Fenomena Inkar Sunnah misalnya, menolak keberadaan sunnah terhadap al-Qur’an. Berdampak signifikan dalam menjaga kemurnian ajaran agama. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji secara mendalam sumber ajaran Islam dengan menyoroti pentingnya sunnah dalam membangun hukum dan praktik keagamaan, sekaligus menganalisis argumen kelompok inkar sunnah. Melalui pendekatan kualitatif berbasis kajian literatur (kepustakaan), penelitian ini menemukan bahwa al-Qur’an secara tegas mengakui otoritas Nabi Saw dalam menguraikan wahyu juga menegaskan pentingnya sunnah sebagai penjelas al-Qur’an. Argumen kelompok Inkar sunnah, seperti keraguan terhadap otentisitas dan kehujjahan hadis/Sunnah serta pernyataan bahwa al-Qur’an cukup memuat segala perintah Allah. Diperlukan upaya kolektif untuk memperkuat pemahaman yang benar tentang peran sunnah dalam ajaran Islam.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the views of orientalists in the study of Hadith, especially according to Goldziher and Schacht, and present a rebuttal to these opinions in order to create a balance in understanding the reading. Orientalism is often defined as Westerners studying the Eastern world. The orientalists in conducting Islamic studies, especially in studying the Hadith, are not all the same. In this paper, a literature review derived from several books related to the views of Hadith studies among Orientalists is used. As for the results of this paper on the views of Hadith studies among Orientalists according to Goldziher and Schacht, Orientalists are not all the same in viewing Islam. There are different opinions about Islam in the Hadith. This view is inseparable from how they judge the Prophet Muhammad because the Hadith is inseparable from everything related to the Prophet. In this paper, the author also adds a little rebuttal to the opinion in order to create a balance in reading comprehension.

Abstract

The historic house of Saoraja Lapinceng was created in 1879 by Andi Muhammad Saleh Daeng Parani Arung Balusu, often known as King Balusu. When Saoraja Lapinceng was established, the building collapsed, shattering glassware such as plates and other kitchenware (in the Bugis language, pinceng means glass). Thus, it was given the name Soraja Lapinceng. The components of a traditional Soraja Lapinceng home are separated into three sections: rakkeang, ale bole, and awa bola. This research seeks to elucidate the relationship between Islam and the Barru community in the architecture of the traditional Saoraja Lapinceng house. Qualitative information derived from field and library studies. The researchers employed historical, archeological, social anthropological, and architectural methods to address these issues. Observation, in-depth interviews with homeowners, community leaders, and the community surrounding the traditional house, as well as the collection of papers and audio recordings, were the data gathering techniques utilized in this study. The results of the study indicate that the concept of Islam in the architecture of the traditional Saoraja Lapinceng house is reflected in the orientation of family furniture, particularly the bed, towards the Qibla. The bedrooms for children and parents are divided, and the bedrooms for boys and girls are also segregated. The water barrel is positioned adjacent to the site's entrance stairs so that those who wish to enter the residence can do so with clean feet. According to Islamic teachings, the home must be clean, and the water barrel is used to collect water for ablution. In accordance with Islamic principles, the toilet cannot face the Qibla. This conforms to the notion of including toilets in the spatial layout of a typical Saorja Lapinceng home. The goal of this study is for individuals to apply the ideals and values of Saoraja Lapinceng traditional house building to the contemporary period.
